- Join us on the 2nd day of our 5 week vacation in Accra, Ghana. We are taking a drive to Accra mall. Enjoying the sights while we have our first taste of Bofrot all in the comfort of our car. We then enjoy our first taste of GHANIAN food and end with dessert and walk around the mall. Aaron Lewis we were in the Cantonments. Can’t remember the specific name of the gated community. It was mostly American and European diplomats that lived there because the embassies were close by. It was the perfect little oasis in the city!

Having lived in the cities in America for many years, it's boring for me to stay in the cities when I visit Africa. I go straight to the rural areas where my grandparents raised me. There, it is really peaceful--you are literally living within nature. Everywhere around you is green...trees, fruits, vegetables, grass, wild and domestic animals, and the air is clean and refreshing. You might not see a vehicle for months. The natives are either on their feet walking or they are riding bicycles. Life is simple

No you have to change your money over when you get there. Banks are the best place to do it. But many shops do take credit cards.

Great video. I’m happy and angry at the same time.happy because it brings joy to me to see your family have a good time in Africa. And angry 😤 because the systems in Africa don’t allow for easy transitions for those who want to move there and for the masses to live well. For example the part your husband was explaining about the housing about people building bit by bit , that part is an inefficiency of the system because if everyone is to build a custom house on their own there will always be housing deficit as opposed to the us where are big builder like dr Horton or pulse homes chugs our houses for the masses etc
You can buy your house too, the options are available. Most people like to own outright instead of getting a credit. That type of system is what is going to destroy countries like Ghana. Ghana's system to me is better than United States because you end up with less debt. This has nothing to do with transitioning, you can rent until you can buy or build, simple. If you can't afford to do any then wait till you can do it.

They expected a 💩hole or wild animals. When we told people we were going to Ghana for 5 weeks, the first thing they’d say is, “For a missions trip?” Nope! Vacation!

I love Ghana but if you all don't mind, I just can't stand the impunity of which Ghanaians will occupy any available space and make it so filthy, build shacks to sell and when they are being forced to remove it, they think they have to be treated with respect. Sidewalks, neighborhoods are just occupied just for the hell of it because its an open space, why?
There are certainly many issues that they are dealing with and things that need to be addressed and from speaking to people there, change is coming. But as we know things take time, policies need to be written and enforced and solutions need to be thought out. And trust me, the government and people know it and many want the change. But again, the road ahead will be slow because change doesn’t come easy. I appreciate the frustration you have. We heard it and saw it from the people who live there.
