The Guild defines Elder Dragon as a monster capable of drastically affecting the ecosystem or capable of destroying an environment. i.e. Kirin, Fatalis, Alatreon oh god Alatreon Or monsters that don't really fit anywhere else: Yama Tsukami, Ceadeus, Chameleos Akantor and Ukanlos are not elder dragons. They once were, until the Guild found tigrex, showing that they are just elder (psuedo)wyverns. Just as Gore Magala is not an elder dragon, even though the adult Shagaru Magala is. It reached a point of disaster causing.
TheBuragi No. Gore Magala can cause a big mess, but to go as far as to compare it to a disaster is a step too big. Shagaru Magara, though, is a different story. Deviljho is just the apex predator, it's on top of the food chain, but he can't actually damage the ecosystem, only the animals in it.
In Tri, you had Ceadeus and Alatreon, one purely a UW hunt, one purely a land fight. In 3U, you have Dire Miralis, the Black Dragon that puts ALL of your skills to the test. Your hunting skills on land, and in water. Truly an Elder Dragon worthy of his apocalyptic title
I know it's pretty late, but i didnt complete 3u back then. I decided i had to do it and created a new character. And today i finally did it, i took down the Dire Miralis alone. I know so many people already did it and that is clearly not the hardest quest to clean, but i still feel so proud of myself.
@@HunDev_PL It's been a while since i played 3u, but isn't Dire Miralis the urgent quest to unlock G3 quests? So it's definitely not the final g rank quest if that's the case. And it's a really easy quest compared to stuff like raging Brachy and other end game quests.
I only have the 3ds version, so no wifi. No one I know has the game or heard of the monster hunter series, and I have to face this thing by myself. God help me....

Nouj After they both threw a dung bomb at a lagiacrus which forced it back into the water which got me killed (three times in two quests) I really don't have much faith in them.
+Boshwa that happened to me too. i had to choose the hardest weapon to master (for me) as my main weapon (bow). it was a really HARD time i fainted thousands of times and i thought i wouldn't be able to beat him. but it happened! so now i have to kill it more to be able to make the armor and the bow (screw you desire sensor!)

At first, eventually, I got my friends into it, and MHF2/U was when I played with others the most. Then, people began getting busy and moving away. MH Tri, MHP3rd, MH3U and MH4U have almost exclusively been solo experiences for me. Hell, I didn't even play with another person in MH4U until I had already put more than 475 hours into the game. You eventually get to the point where you'll impress even yourself. DIre Miralis got easy for me pretty quickly.

There is one theory that is mulling about, that Dire Miralis is the result of Fatalis' heart landing in the ocean after it's body breaks down from injuries and regenerates into the walking armageddon.

TheShadoek Yes, I think Miralis is actually a Fatalis brethren. Besides, in MH1 Fatalis actually CAME BACK TO LIFE! And that is why Lao Shan Lung woke up from his slumber and ran away from it. So the fact Dire Miralis is immortal is not something that the Fatalis brethren don't have. Fatalis was the first dragon to die and come back to life.
So, a little Japanese lesson. The Japanese word for future is Mirai. Sounds oddly similar to Miralis, doesn't it? If Miralis's name is taken from Mirai, then its name means grim future. And Miralis's in-game description states that It is the being fated to destroy the world. Yes, that's factoring that it was "killed" in 3U by your Hunter. Miralis is capable of regenerating its entire body from only its heart, which never stops beating.

Third generation... God I remember when fighting the barroth was actually challenging and scary. Once I reached this battle I didn't feel fear. I felt excited. I was a hunter. I may be beaten down and almost die, but now I can fight.
tbh, he is not really HARD, like... you dont need incredible fighting or dodging mechanics or anything... just attack shoulders when under water and tail when on land, ignore him when he goes on all 4 and he should be dead in about 40 minutes (i used jho dual blades, and my best was about 32 minutes)

Monster Hunter soundtracks are always so on point. Easily one of the franchises with the best soundtracks ever. I still get a chill everytime i hear that Kokoto Theme.
I really hope that Dire Miralis gets to return in a later game. I get that a lot of it's fight can take place in the water, but if they could bring back Lagiacrus and Royal Ludroth, why not Dire Miralis?
The thing is that it would be near impossible to attack his back cannons and such without water, so unless he gets significantly smaller, RIP hellwings
+Timmy Reobed Bowguns, glaives, and aerial style seem to be the only way to hit them, as any other person will have a hard time trying to break a wing, much less touch them. Don't get me wrong- I want him to come back, it's just that he's TOO BIG to fight the way we do now, unlike dalamadur where you can climb it. The only way I see him coming back is if tainted sea gets updated, with pillars, ledges, or even a second floor.

I love how the real final fight of mh games has a part of the theme of the game in it. For example dire miralis has the theme of tri in it and AT Nergi has the theme of world in it. These make it seem like an epic final battle

Because you fight Alatreon before Dire Miralis. Alatreon has the power of the true elder dragons, which means it's a lot stronger than Dire Miralis. And the hunter killed it. I'd respect someone and treat them as a danger if they killed something like that, too.
This is a long shot. I'm hoping.. HOPING they can bring this iconic Black Dragon back. This is all I ask this is the only monster in the main series I have not fought and I feel a need to fight him
I have only played Gen and 4U but just for this theme i want this guy back in Monster hunter. Possibly he could come back in Gen XX along with some of the other Massive elder dragons
No because too many people bitched about the water combat in MH3 so it is highly unlikely they are bringing miralis again UNLESS they do some tweaks like they did with Lagiacrus in Generations. That's the only way I see Miralis coming back. You see, that's what made Miralis unique that he was both a land and a underwater monster. It was cool.
Same at 200 I was at High rNk, basically spent them on getting every low rank item, weapon, and armor, Etcetera, at 600hours every highrank, now at 1345 hours and 45 minutes every grank, um do I have an addiction.

so beutiful the way that capcom worked in all of the parts is amazing that part reminecent of the theme that plays as you first step foot into that first hunting area, the overall dread of fight a dragon supposidly fated to destroy the world the grandure off a dragon that can boil an ocean passivly, truly as much of a work of art as any painting, Good job capcom
Still awesome. Me and my cousins(we are 3 players) killed him in 14 minutes. I can kill Dire Miralis solo with no problem but it takes me a lot of time.
I feel like, despite having water combat in his fight, this black dragon still has a chance to return someday. It would just mean that they have to remake the fight to be more land based, maybe even siege weaponry to use if he still goes back into the water

I used this music to fight The Warrior in Borderlands 2 in True Vault Hunter Mode. It takes the whole loop to take the Warrior down, but with this music, the fight is even more epic.
I just fought this guy for the first time, when I saw his volcano wings I just about crapped myself, the I saw he had one of the biggest villain/monster blunders on him, BIG GLOWING WEAKPOINTS. Oddly enough my group killed him on our first try, but every try after that we lost, though I'm genuinely surprised I didn't die as a dual sword berserker who was in his face every other moment.
I remember doing runs of this with my random lobbies, when it came to my turn to pick a hunt, we'd transition from something little like volvidon for fangs and barroth scalps, to this. Everyone would bust out the best shit, we'd call out what weapons we'll need, when the ammo mule had to give more pierce over etc.
Dire Miralis, if you ask me, is what happens when a Crimson Fatalis lives for a very long time. Black Fatalis turns into White Fatalis, while Crimson turns into this.
Demon from hell is an understatement this thing has the title eventual ender of the world its body is so hot every animal from within 100s of miles boiled alive and turned the ocean red with their blood he kills islands and summons meteors he's in all words the devil itself

if we can fight lagis and R. ludroths in gen, then fighting THIS MONSTER, who is more then capable to fight on land, should be in gen. If that day comes, i will cry tears of joy and fear
Thing is, on land he is basically Crimson Fatty with less moves. They'd have to rework him entirely to make him even remotely fun with Gen 4 mechanics.
I wish I got to fight this thing. I got 3U for the Wii U. I was working my way up the ranks, but then my Wii U broke and I haven't gotten it repaired yet
This guy and Goldbeard Caedeus are what prompted me to make a Heavy Bowgun set and I never ever regretted the decision. It wasn't even that hard, just make the Aquamatic "Ashmaker" and the Wroggi X set. And for Dire Miralis, always stay at the surface of the water when he's in water. Being able to farm these guys solo was worth it.
OHHH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY. all my friends dont play mh and i wanted to finish 3u cause i did not when 4u arrived and some that do, weren't avalible/too low hr. so i go against this guy with 2nd last upgrade brachy db, killed him SOLO in the last 40 seconds. HOW. my luck continues when i soloed a High Ranak Alatreon with two minutes left. i am so lucky C:

Besides, in MH1 Fatalis actually CAME BACK TO LIFE! And that is why Lao Shan Lung woke up from his slumber and ran away from it.
So the fact Dire Miralis is immortal is not something that the Fatalis brethren don't have. Fatalis was the first dragon to die and come back to life.

Yes, that's factoring that it was "killed" in 3U by your Hunter. Miralis is capable of regenerating its entire body from only its heart, which never stops beating.
The Miralis (Miraosu) in his name represents the word Mirabilis, which means miraclous/wonderful in Latin.

tbh, he is not really HARD, like... you dont need incredible fighting or dodging mechanics or anything... just attack shoulders when under water and tail when on land, ignore him when he goes on all 4 and he should be dead in about 40 minutes (i used jho dual blades, and my best was about 32 minutes)

Bowguns, glaives, and aerial style seem to be the only way to hit them, as any other person will have a hard time trying to break a wing, much less touch them.
Don't get me wrong- I want him to come back, it's just that he's TOO BIG to fight the way we do now, unlike dalamadur where you can climb it. The only way I see him coming back is if tainted sea gets updated, with pillars, ledges, or even a second floor.

Because you fight Alatreon before Dire Miralis. Alatreon has the power of the true elder dragons, which means it's a lot stronger than Dire Miralis. And the hunter killed it. I'd respect someone and treat them as a danger if they killed something like that, too.

No because too many people bitched about the water combat in MH3 so it is highly unlikely they are bringing miralis again UNLESS they do some tweaks like they did with Lagiacrus in Generations. That's the only way I see Miralis coming back. You see, that's what made Miralis unique that he was both a land and a underwater monster. It was cool.
Ivory was kind-of like that in the sense that it was effective at both water and land combat.

I used this music to fight The Warrior in Borderlands 2 in True Vault Hunter Mode. It takes the whole loop to take the Warrior down, but with this music, the fight is even more epic.

I just fought this guy for the first time, when I saw his volcano wings I just about crapped myself, the I saw he had one of the biggest villain/monster blunders on him, BIG GLOWING WEAKPOINTS.
Oddly enough my group killed him on our first try, but every try after that we lost, though I'm genuinely surprised I didn't die as a dual sword berserker who was in his face every other moment.
I remember doing runs of this with my random lobbies, when it came to my turn to pick a hunt, we'd transition from something little like volvidon for fangs and barroth scalps, to this. Everyone would bust out the best shit, we'd call out what weapons we'll need, when the ammo mule had to give more pierce over etc.
Dire Miralis, if you ask me, is what happens when a Crimson Fatalis lives for a very long time. Black Fatalis turns into White Fatalis, while Crimson turns into this.

This guy and Goldbeard Caedeus are what prompted me to make a Heavy Bowgun set and I never ever regretted the decision. It wasn't even that hard, just make the Aquamatic "Ashmaker" and the Wroggi X set. And for Dire Miralis, always stay at the surface of the water when he's in water.
Being able to farm these guys solo was worth it.
