I've noticed by participating in the Expats in Italy Facebook group by Anyexpat.com that people are leaning more towards the superior homes. So here are the top 5 superior homes in Biccari Puglia. They give you a good example of what else will be available in upcoming months since they announced having potentially nearly 100 properties and I'd say the majority in the superior category.
My impression of the community is actually very high. It's relatively close to the sea, close to the nature, and has that small town community life people are hoping for. At the same time, it's a bit distant and located in the province of Foggia which in recent years has proven to be less than safe according to various articles and numbeo.com statistics. Even with the higher provincial crime rate, Biccari seems like an oasis just waiting to be discovered. Living in Italy is becoming a goal for more and more people as of 2021. Love it. Wish I could get my wife to go. She moved to U.S. from Russia. She does not want to learn another language. We visited Italy in 2019 and she really liked it. He brother is still in Russia. I would love to get him to leave russia.

I think I'm always amazed at how they get such large armoires and other pieces of furniture up very narrow steep staircase. 🤔

@@DauvO The second and third homes struck my fancy, the third home had a little more light than the first and second and I believe you can make it into a nice art studio if there is any interest in rent for that.
The first was my least favorite just because it had no natural light, but I am sure one can work around that, the fourth one is just to expensive for me.🤣🤣🤣

Dauvo, one of the things we see alot in videos from italy is the outside facade, why are the outside not kept up, paint or cleaning of the outer stones, homes in general seem a bit dilapidated. ALSO, who is responsible for emptying the home if we do not want furniture?
PINK BEDROOM: so much mold, how do they address that.
It's common to see dilapidated buildings for many reasons. Some are abandoned and the owners don't want to dump money into them. Income is lower on average here, so upkeep of the facade can be pushed aside. If it is an apartment building, getting all the owners to agree to maintain the building can be quite the headache.. I'm sure there are many more reasons as well.
Assuming that it isn't due to a water infiltration... Mold is best battled before it is present. Mold forms on the areas of the wall where water condenses due to the temperature being lower. Allowing air to circulate by opening up the windows daily helps a lot.. When houses are closed up and empty, it is common that mold begins to form.

My Italian is terrible, but on the fourth house, when up in the attic, it seemed like your guide was suggesting to open up one wall and install a terrace or balcony beyond it. I got that it would take a lot of effort, and involve historic planning permission, but that was the extent of what I could surmise (and even with that I don't know how correct I am). Is that what he said? If so, what would be the cost to do something like that? Your other videos on the one-euro houses has indicated a renovation cost of around 700 euros per square meter. Do you have an idea what renovation costs are for "superior" properties? Any answer would be a generalization, of course.
More move in ready superior homes in nice climate or places with/near attractions please.

Superior? I'm guessing "superior" means "not quite as falling apart but still old" as one euro homes?
That's probably one of the best ways to describe most of them. They should be categorized together most the time, but they are structurally superior.

What's amazing is all the wonderful food that came out of those dinky little kitchens that were in use even up to the 70's and 80's! Now Americans have huge kitchens and they don't even cook, go figure. 😂
These old hilltop cities always look so fascinating and mysterious from drone footage. So alluring. And then you get to the ground and see the reality. I question the sanity and the talent of those who designed these homes. So many are impractical living spaces. The Italians are famous for squeezing a set of stairs in places no one would think of. No wonder older people have left these cities. These homes are no friend to arthritis, or worse, a wheel chair. Why would any young, modern family want to deal with bad design, remodeling challenges, or worse, city regulations. Imagine what it takes to cart the garbage away. Imagine what it's like to order a new couch and have it delivered. How does anyone deal with these impractical, badly designed stairs to get furniture inside? €1 homes sounds like a deal on the surface. I see mostly headaches, a hard life, and a questionable investment. Yes, it's sad these places are dying, but they're dying for a reason. They are so impractical and out-of-date.

the comune of Biccari is in charge of selling some of the houses and the geometras are the people to speak to , There are other houses in Biccari but most are private telephone numbers listed on a paper sign, you would very much need to have an Italian translator speak for you if you don't speak Italian yourself. There are relatively few houses that are like this on real estate websites, it is complex to buy one and renovate if you do not know the process My family owns 2 houses in Biccari and we are slowly moving there to open a business, it is not easy but it is happening. Biccari is a beautiful town.

The person in this video is not a realtor, he is a geometra that is helping the 1 euro home program. The town didn't really have a real estate agency when I was there. Maybe that has changed at this point, but if there is, they would be from Foggia or somewhere else most likely.

I like the 5000 euro home.
The only way I would buy one of those properties is if I immediately got dual citizenship or permanent residence why would I spend thousands of dollars in a country that I cannot call my forever home .
If you travel to Italy a lot, buying a house can save you money that you would spend on Hotels. There are plenty of reasons, but perhaps not anything that matches your perspective.
