I would have agreed with that pre Widows Weeds. Outside of Don’t Know Yet and Freakazoid, the album isn’t really that good IMO. They are still one of my top three bands. Speaking of Freakazoid, the intro to to this cover sounds similar.

If I didn't know any better I would've guessed this cover was done in the early 2000s. That rich good music era that still had the good sounds of the 80s and 90s while morphing into newer styles for a new millennium. And that makes me appreciate this cover even more. To be able to cover a song that was originally legendary and to make it sound this good AND in 2020 clearly means that this is a band that respects music. Thank you for this. This is just so good.
Awesome! I *adore* SSPU original music, but I would also LOVE to hear more covers! Always interesting to hear SSPU's take on other people's songs! This was beautiful.

This video's tight. Love the direction in the sound. Especially the guitar twinkling in the back, and the melodie's rhythm. It's got a more happy/victorious tone than i expected, but still has that melancholy vibe i associate with SsPu.
Old enough to remember Martika originally recorded this song in1988!

This is kinda like that time Ataris covered Boys of Summer, but also not like that at the same time.
I love how much of a unique sound SSPU have. No one sounds like them so it makes each song they produce that much more valuable.
Silversun has the ability to create a satisfyingly accurate synthesiesa of their videos and songs. This release is a perfect example of that. The lighting, the time of day, everything visually in the video partners with the sounds exactly how I want them in my mind.
There are few bands that I consider to be truly in perfect synchronization. SSPU is one of them.

It's a real challenge to cover a song that was huge when it was originally released and have it come anywhere near being as good as the original. I have never heard of you before listening to this but I am impressed. You definitely made an amazing cover. Be proud of that. I listen to a lot of covers and I am often disappointed. You were true to the authenticity of the original Toy Soldiers but at the same time you gave it a modern twist and I love it. I look forward to hearing more from you whether it be covers or your own songs.
