    I am born and raised here in Las Vegas. As a child I would dream about being on the top of Sunrise ( Frenchman's) I just never knew there was a trail. I think I found out when I was 60. Thank you for doing the hard work.

      It's wild that you dreamed about being up there as a kid! You must have seen Las Vegas change a lot over the years! I'm glad I was able to at least give you a virtual tour. It's a really hard hike. I've done it twice, and I'm not gonna do it again, lol 😆. Thanks for watching.

    I always use at least one pole on every hike, feels part of me now to be honest. The curse of any hike is false summits but always good to know they are there, so you are nor disappointed. Looked a steep up in parts and that false summit where the heart of rocks were must have been a killer when you saw what was still to do. Amazing effort to get to the top and the view was spectacular, never knew LV was so big either! Cheers Alan

      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I have always had hiking Poles. I just never bring them. Certain hikes just really need them. Yeah, this is a steep slippery sucker of a hike! The false summit is insane on this one for sure, lol. Las Vegas is actually a pretty good-sized city with around 2 million people living here. Thanks for watching Alan!!

    @DestinationEarth ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's quite the climb! Yes, all those loose rocks would make for a very slippery climb. Glad the trail is nice and wide so you have some options. Wow, that's a bad false summit, lol. That's a pretty steep climb even after all that - no wonder it's a difficult trail. You did a wonderful job getting to the top! Good hike brother!

      Yeah, it's is a pretty crazy local hike! You really have to work hard to get these killer views of Las Vegas! I'm glad I came back to do it after all these years to film it! Thanks, Josh!

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's pretty intense! It's crazy how much elevation you gain in such a short period of time. And on top of that it's slow moving and slippery. Thank you so much for checking out another video of mine! 🙂

  • @yasminshikingmission
    @yasminshikingmission ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow that looks steep, I would have been so upset at the false summit haha 😂 always hate those. That’s quite the false summit too, but the view as you came over was amazing. Stunning views from that summit! Well done for this one I imagine it really is a tough one.

    • @adventuringoutdoorswitheric
      @adventuringoutdoorswitheric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, this sucker was steep for sure! You're right about the false summit, that' was a crazy one! Definitely a really hard hike that you have to use much caution because of how slippery it is. The view of the Las Vegas Valley at the top is amazing though. Thank you so much for watching.

    I'm 65 and it was my first hike since doing Gold Strike last year. It's more of a pace hike in that you adjust for the steep grade and loose rock fields rather than try to charge ahead. I was going to say if your younger maybe you can do that but with all the loose rock, probably constant focus on where you are stepping is the main thing. Some of it was fairly easy but steep. The challenge areas were mainly in the washed out places and steel loose grades. For me the first 1/3 was pretty easy, next 1/3 difficult and last 1/3 pretty easy again at a slow pace. Fun hike though with great views. As an older person the downhill grade coming back was hard on the knees but a lot faster easier pace. Go slow because with all the big loose rocks a miss step could end badly.

    I don't think there would be anyway I could do a hike that now and good you took the hiking poles, going down is hard on the knees and with that loose gravel a wise choice, must admit that is an amazing view of Vegas from the summit, take care Eric till the next adventure

      Yeah, this hike is very sketchy. Definitely not for everybody and not one I would do regularly because of the difficulty. But it is an awesome hike, and I'm glad I got to do it again after 10 years. Thank you so much, Craig. I really appreciate it, brother.

And that...THAT VIEW OMG! Are there any hiking groups in Las Vegas / in Nevada I could network with to do this journeying adventure? Awesome segment! Hope you'll have content videos coming soon! The hike is definitely hard, but the view is pretty amazing! If I were you, I would look up Facebook hiking groups in Las Vegas. That's a good way to meet local hikers. Thank you so much, my friend, for watching and subscribing! Right now. I'm putting out a new video every week, and lately It's been a lot of Las Vegas area hiking trail videos.

    This was one of the very first hikes I did when I first moved to Vegas. It whooped my butt 😅- definitely do not do this trail without boots and poles.
    I gave up after that first false summit; would love to return again to finish it.

      Yeah, it's pretty crazy to hike up over 2000 feet of elevation in 2.2 miles. Then, on top of that, it's very rocky and slippery. But as you can see the reward of the hike is pretty amazing for the challenge. Thank you so much Nicole!

      This trail is an out and back. You go down the same way you went up. You just have to go down carefully because it's slippery!
