    “Look at this thirst trap” 😅😅😅 great alocasia care video! I had issues with my imperialis nebula too. Definitely the fussiest of all my alocasia. So ungrateful lol.
    My scalprum just put out a bunch of corms if you ever want to trade for some heterophyllq dragon’s breath corms. I’m in Denver.

      Thank you!! 🧡 Yes those nebulas have a reputation! I'm hoping to crack the code 🕵🏼
      🔥 Yay! I'm in no rush, so I'll def keep you in mind when my DB starts pushing some corms! 🔥

    One that I missed on your list, and one of the most stunning, is the Alocasia Watsoniana. In my opinion I consider that one of the more rare Alocasias. At least for me it was. Great vid, BTW

    • @AllureAndInk
      @AllureAndInk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! I agree A. Watsoniana should be on this list! I've added it to the want list! (As if I need to get more plants). Thank you for watching! 🧡🧡

    I enjoyed watching😊🙏💖You have a lot of Alocasias there. The crunchy, brown tips on plant leaves are 'stress' from the ph going up or down and fertilizer salts, and also heat stress, or roots drying out. Humidity just needs to be about 40 to 50% and all is fine for growth. If you observe plants in habitat they aren't dripping with humidity because the leaves are designed to repel any water like: the pointed end of the leaf. This tip, along with the waxy covering makes it easier for water to run off the leaves. This is very important as without these adaptations, algae would grow on the leaves😊🙏💖Happy growing🥰

      Thank you! 🧡🧡 I'll definitely keep in mind those factors with new leaves and adjust the water accordingly 🙏🏼 Never thought about the algae and the waxiness! Makes perfect sense! Thanks 🧡

    I also have a collection of Alocasia. And some are very hard to tell apart. I have a Nebula that now is a stump, but it is alive. Mine are mostly in soil, but I know some of the large ones grow submerged in water, in ponds. This makes me wonder if all of them could be grow pretty much in leca, or whatever, in water. I think all of them are much easier to grow as they get larger. My silver dragon is large now, multiple plants. I bottom water it and leave it be. It is in soil. Same with my black velvet. My Corazon and scalprum have just put out a leaf after loosing them all. My oldest plant is a pink dragon (as pink stems and glossy veined green leaves). This plant is under 3" tall but seems to make it through cooler winters without loosing most of its leaves. For those living in cooler states outside of Florida the big issue is getting through the winter with more than one leaf. The jewel alocasias seem to do better than the larger type. I am pretty sure it is the lack of light and warmth. Sorry for the rant, but now one I know cares about these plants much unless they are variated.

    • @AllureAndInk
      @AllureAndInk  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So far all of them are doing well in leca (except, funny enough, my pink dragon! But she's a mess!) Im really enjoying all of them and while the variegated can be pretty. I find that most people are buying sport variegation for a lot of $$ I prefer to wait for the variegated version to be in TC or cheaper. Like the Var bambino and Frydek! Are now around $50 and the Var Black Velvet is dropping too ( but I've heard it's tough to transition out of TC)! I think Alocasias are too finicky to pay over 1K. Patiently waiting for the Var cuprea to make its way down!

    • @AllureAndInk
      @AllureAndInk  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      💯Agreed! Part of me buying all these was to know which I find the easiest and then get that variegated 😂

    I owned a few alocasia in the past. Just had spider mites. Any tips on how to prevent them?

    • @AllureAndInk
      @AllureAndInk  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes spider mites are the worst!! I use, and recommend, Captain Jack's insecticidal super soap! I clean it with that and then again every couple days for a week if it's really active. But now, I'm usually just cleaning all my leaves with that as preventative and to clear dust. Also took care of an aphid issue I had when I moved back in!
