How to remove soft top for 2007 - 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Removing the soft top is very easy. If you purchased your Wrangler new you should have received directions with the vehicle. On 2012 models they are usually right on the passenger side visor. How do you take it all the way off though? I know how to fold it back but I have seen jeeps ride around with it completely off.

Two questions. When just folding back the Sunrider part way, how do you stop it from closing back over? Also, when you fold it all the way back, how do you keep it folded down? Thanks

Once you've got it folded down, how do you keep it down? Do you wrap straps around the back/middle of the soft top? Or, do you wrap straps around the metal arms on each side?

+Shawn McDonald I have an 09 x and it took me some time to figure it out as well. In the front where it's latched on to the car you have to make sure to pull down on the top and make sure to separate it from where it's attached. It's attached some what like the back windows are to the actual car. If you want I can make a video of it if you guys haven't figured it out. It's kind of difficult to explain.

+Austin Budell from what I've figured out with mine, I've had it a little over a year now, there's no sunrider option on mine, but to take the top down just do what he does with all the windows, and unlatch the header latches, then on the door surrounds there's a little sail flap kinda thing that you have to get out from the top of the door surround. I take a flathead screwdriver sometimes if it's tough and it all comes down. Hope that helps!
