Just wanted to thank you for the instructional on this process. Used all of the products plus some Plexus for a final cleaning. I recently purchased a used '12 wrangler and the windows were in really, really bad shape with large, deep scratches along the sides and back. Now, my windows are so incredibly better! The back one in particular looks like a piece of glass. I ended up taking the back off and taking it inside to buff on a piece of carpet. So impressed on how good of a job this did. I ended up using 4 rounds of #3, 3 rounds of #2 and 1 round of #1, then the final plexus clean. Night and day difference. Thank you!
Guys do yourselves a favor and do this with a dual action polisher. I detail for a living and have done this a hundred times. Makes the job waaaaaaay faster and since the surface area is distributed you can't really burn through the plastic. I've never even felt it get warm before. The only thing these powerballs are good for is polishing hard to reach areas like on rims.
If you take care of soft windows and keep them clean from the start, you won’t have to worry about polishing them to remove scratches. But over time, everyone is bound to pick up a few, so it’s good to know how to get rid of them.
Why wouldn't you use a different polishing ball since you are working your way down from coarse to fine. There is still coarse grit on the ball and your using the same ball.
Seems like swirls are unavoidable. Bought these products and Powerball and back window is worse now than before polishing it. Swirls! Tried turning the Powerball sideways with new #3 polish and never could get the swirls to come out. Live and learn I guess.
Key is to go SLOW. Or if you go fast you go LIGHT. Bit of practise and it starts becoming second nature. You can use the same technique on bodywork clear coat
This appears to be similar to doing the powerball headlight restoration treatment. I’ll say that your demo shows an improvement in the plastic window in that it looks shinier. But clearly there are still hazing and scratches present but they are masked by the shine provided by the polishing products. Just like headlight restoration, it’s not truly removing scratches or buffing them out and it’s not permanent removal. The polish just diffuses the light more evenly this the scratches do not appear as evident. Anyone who has restored their headlights knows that as the polish wears off with washing, the haziness reappears. So it just needs to be understood by anyone using it that it makes the windows appears clearer, but it doesn’t actually remove scratches and leave a “like new” surface.
Got the novus stuff that’s used here. It’s taken out scratches but the “dirty haze” that made the rear window impossible to see through is still there. Spent a good hour polishing it, so I’m not sure what to do from here.
John Edwards yes. And it works waaaaaaaaay faster than this power Ball. And since the surface area is distributed I can't see you ever burning through the plastic. I've done it a hundred times and it don't even get warm.
Hey any suggestion on a safe way to clean months of road grime from the back soft top window, ??I have a 21 and haven't washed the back window for a few months, salt ,mud and road grime
7:12 Wow... where can I get all these cleaners at ?? Just bought a used soft top that needs some TLC when I get it on. 10:13 Wow awesome !! Huge difference
Thanks, great video. I bought the novus system and powerball as my Wrangler rear window is very hazy and I can't see through it. I have managed to get one side of it looking pretty shiny on the surface (both sides), but it's still as hazy as the other, untouched side. I spent about 30mins doing this. Do I need to spend more time to fix it or does the haze run right through the plastic do you think? Thanks.
Rob, are the decals on the window mounted on the outside surface or the inside? Just wondering how the polishes might effect those if they are stuck on the outside .... great video!
Yes, this Jeep had a variety of different types of decals stuck on the outside of the windows. The Quadratec decal was a single color vinyl decal and was not affected by the cleaning process. The AOAA decal is a printed type decal with black printing on white vinyl. That decal was slightly affected with some of the black being polished away. You could always tape off a sticker to protect it if you wanted or simply be extra careful and not polish over the sticker.
Thanks for the video. My TJ rear side windows, made by Safari I think, appear to have some sort of organic growth on them (they appear green) that hasn't come off with many different chemicals I have tried. What do you suggest for this?
So, you used the same polishing ball for each step? Don't have to rinse the previous step out before starting the new step? Thanks, I need to do this on my '15 Willys
I'd recommend using a different ball for each one. If you use the #3 ball when you use the #2, there will still be some of the #3 on the ball. You'll contaminate the ball and your results won't be as good.
To me the window just looks like it was cleaned. When I pause the video I still see the scratches. I have been using pledge furniture polish with microfiber cloth for years and looks about the same.
I prefer by hand. Like Rob said, if you are going to use a drill or buffer, you have to be careful not to buff to hard. When you do it by hand, you have more of a feel of how the cleaning/buffing is going. There's less risk of damaging the windows. It takes more time but it's safer. Having a few beers and listening to good tunes helps pass the time. 🍺✌🏽
First, a lite dusting with a microfiber cloth, then a lite application of the glass treatment. It may seem like overkill but I think it will really protect the windows from interior fog/moisture and an extra defense from the UV rays. ✌🏽
hey, what’s up brother sorry for the bother, but I got a quick question I have a best top soft top twill version and I don’t know how to clean it safely, I’ve been researching for about three years now and I cannot find a reliable source of how to clean it not even desktop has anything on their website for cleaner. can you please help me how to clean my twill top?
Will these products work on those new 21 Ford bronco softtop windows ,they scratch easily, I didn't know they very sensitive and used window cleaner at a gas station 😞
Yes they will, same type of windows. I also have a 21 B6G, and maintain them using the Mothers Plastic polish about every 3rd or 4th detail. Once they do get some more pronounced scratches I'll try the Novus system. Stay away from the powerball, when you do yours, though. If you have the funds, a Rupes dual action polisher works a lot better.
Saw vid and bought. Cleans throughly...DOES NOT REMOVE THE CLOUDINESS OR SCRACTCHS....Restoring is a big word. Did exactly as the vid, several times....they were cloudy within a couple of weeks. Not impressed.

Glad it worked out for you! we were honestly shocked at how well it worked.

Frank McKinley , thanks for info. Can you provide a link?
Didn’t know about the maintenance that’s involved with soft tops. Awesome product video!

It's OK if your a DIY guy but it's not professional.
Why wouldn't you use a different polishing ball since you are working your way down from coarse to fine. There is still coarse grit on the ball and your using the same ball.
U could put the drill sideways to prevent swirls. Great video.

Love this video… so glad I found it.
Thanks so much!
I have a soft top and a hard top , thanks for the tips will tey this on the soft top
Amazing video , thanks. Please can I get a list or picture for the material you use

The Best Top brand works really well. I apply it and clean my windows by hand. It takes time, but the results are pretty good. ✌🏽
Could you use a foam pad and a dual action polisher instead of the Powerball?
John Edwards yes. And it works waaaaaaaaay faster than this power Ball. And since the surface area is distributed I can't see you ever burning through the plastic. I've done it a hundred times and it don't even get warm.

I know that Quadratec carries the Best Top brand cleaners. I'm not sure about the other brand.
The Best Top brand works great.✌🏽👍🏽
Gotta do this to my Miata !
Great demo
Little Da buffer works great
Thanks, great video. I bought the novus system and powerball as my Wrangler rear window is very hazy and I can't see through it. Definitely do both sides. I roll my back window up alot and it gets rub marks on the inside and I do both sides
Great video. Thank you!
On my JK rear window, I have misaligned the zipper and cannot remove the window. Do you have a video or recommendation on how to fix?
What kind of soap did you use on the windows, before using the three step cleaner.
Any good car wash soap is fine

Quadratec thanks, Rob! Excellent advice, as always. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻👍🏻 OIIIIIIIO
@@Quadratec Oh -----------> And never put stickers on plastic windows!

Did you ever find anything that worked?
Can you use this on tinted soft top ?
Which mother ball should I get?
So, you used the same polishing ball for each step? Don't have to rinse the previous step out before starting the new step?

What did you use after you washed the window before the polish?
I had to pause the video to get it but it was Adam's Waterless Wash. not sure youre looking for it 2 years later but oh well haha
To me the window just looks like it was cleaned. When I pause the video I still see the scratches. I have been using pledge furniture polish with microfiber cloth for years and looks about the same.
How about washing the Jeep through a touchless wash every now & then?
Anyone try a Magic Eraser to remove scratches? Seems like it should work.
Doing it by hand will still make it that effective or not as much?
I prefer by hand. Like Rob said, if you are going to use a drill or buffer, you have to be careful not to buff to hard. When you do it by hand, you have more of a feel of how the cleaning/buffing is going. There's less risk of damaging the windows.

Mother’s Polish 💪🏻
Does anything need to be done to the inside of the windows?

What to use if soft top window has paint from inside door on it

Also, I use a non abrasive wax to protect them from water spots and general junk sticking to them. Recommend the Meguiars #26 yellow wax for that.
@@Broadi_Adventures thanks for the reply 👍 well do
I read that the mother’s powerball is not very durable. Is that true?
Yes, mine fell apart after a couple of normal uses
Thank you so much!!
I just got an ‘18 wrangler with a softtop(had a ‘10 with a hardtop) is it a good idea to use rain x on the plastic windows?
I would not put rainx on the plastic windows, that might cause discoloration over time.
Thanks for the video. It all worked great
Do you also clean the inside of your windows as well?
Mines got like rust
So, step 1 is 3rd an step 3 is 1st. Got it.
It was
seems like its just an oil thats making it seem less scratched. comes back when oil dries, but with more swirls. garbage

nice best top commercial. all those products plus a drill. ouch
Hard tops should be standard, not the other way around jeep.
Waste of time...$
I used the novus products but my windows are still hazy as hell and I cannot see through them. Only a year old.
Great video, thank you so much!
Thanks for the video!
