I have speaker box which originally came with a 20watt 4ohm speaker, can I replace it with a 150w(80w nom) 4ohm speaker?

It depends on whether there's a built-in crossover inside your speaker cabinet. If there is, replacing the original 20W 4-ohm speaker with a 150W speaker could cause issues. The crossover is designed for the original speaker's power rating, and increasing the wattage might lead to performance problems or even damage to the components. If you're not sure about the internal design, it might be best to stick with a replacement speaker that matches the original wattage or consult with a professional for guidance.

What is a crossover? This box has 2 satellite speakers (midrage and tweeter), what I am replacing is the subwoofer.

@@Hicky33 A crossover is an electronic component that splits the audio signal into different frequency ranges, directing the low frequencies to the subwoofer. When replacing the woofer, it's important to choose one that closely matches the original specifications to ensure optimal performance. If you're unsure, it's always best to consult the speaker manufacturer for guidance.
