You have no idea how much this channel means to the deep lore of Star Wars fans, from the ancient Sith lord coverage, to this video. This video is about to be a banger.
Seriously I can’t say it enough. I love these long format vids. I literally love these doesn’t matter what it’s about. Personally my fav one is the sith history one. That one goes so hard. Can’t wait to watch this one tho.
Right? Originally a side character that was essentially just a plot device and decades later The Mandalorian became a global cultural phenomenon. Has that ever happened before or since?
Kinda with Zaku. Gundam needed to be marketable as toys, Zaku not so much so the creator had more freedom. What was just supposed to be the disinteresting villain mech is now both within gundam beloved (with a massive part of the semi-recent red comet movie being about its development) and outside of it influential.
Well, it's offical, Geetsly is trying to become the master of long form Star Wars videos now. No wonder we're only getting one video a week instead of four, because these videos take four days to get through with all the lore. LOL. Also, with this video, this channel has now covered the history of the six most powerful and influential groups in Star Wars: Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, Clones, Battle Droids, and Hutts.
I love it I listen to his videos like they’re podcasts while I’m at work makes the day go by faster when I get to listen to my favorite Star Wars lore TH-camr
This video has been sweet as. Had it on while working in my room. Had each work colleague write down what they needed as I didn't want to miss any of this history. A lot I knew but it is the Mandalorians so I had to listen to the whole history.
I still think being born inducted into the Jedi leaving at the end of Padawanhood then becoming a Mando would make you one of the best warriors in the Universe
I second Twitch's recommendation, only five books but honestly do a great job expanding and personifying those two factions. Honestly don't think Mando would be what they are today without those books.
Awesome video man I absolutely love long videos like this from you looking forward to more and more. Your easily one of my favorite star wars channels I still watch the sith long video almost every night before bed lol and the clone wars video
It's always amazes me how fast species devolve in the star wars galaxy the qua, the basiliskans, and a vew ithers devolved into beasts or jawas and sand people in centuries or a few thousand years not tens of thousands or millions.
I know it's a far-fetched headcanon, but I like to imagine A Song Of Ice And Fire actually takes place on Notron, some time after driving of the Taungs and before humans established an advanced cicilisation there.
I rememeber when i was 13 and i met someone who was playing star wars galaxy which i had never heard of. This lead to playing kotor and a never ending love of mandos
The lore missed out on a major opportunity with basilisk war droids. It said they are semi-sentient, as inteligent as animals of burden. Why did the Jedi not use that against them. Jedi have calmed and controlled animals before. In addition, imagine if Jedi had captured some. The mando riders had such strong bonds that it literally hurt the droid when they died. What would a Jedi have been like, creating a Force bond. Might basilisks have become some type of Force sensitive droid from exposure? Just a thought.
It’s the whole attachment thing. Mace windu’s people had amazing force bonds with their dogs and mace liked and respected the connection but the idea of ANY kind of attachment ment he WOULDN’T (not couldnt) do it. ( source. Shatterpoint novel) however that woulda stopped them from USING them but calming them woulda been interesting that could’ve been intriguing
What a beauty of a video. Took a bit to get through, but I consider that a feature, not a bug. At this point, future coverage would be forced to split into either current Disney canon or Legends continuity, as there's not really a way to reconcile them past here. Realistically, that point is a bit further back, but I digress. As one of the few truly distinct non-Force factions of the galaxy, the Mandalorians truly stand heads and shoulders above many of the other mainstays of the Star Wars galaxy. More videos about them would certainly garner my attention.
Fantastic video chronologizing cuun ruyot! All of this platform should be like this! Cause who needs House of Mouse when we can get more, better and smarter content like this for free here on TH-cam?
For anyone who reads this, this is going to be a bit long. This is a eulogy for the Mandalorian Clans Skirata and Fett in Star Wars Legends. This does have a bit of spoilers for the Mandos during Republic Commando and Jango and Boba Fett's own stories. Enjoy. I know many people may disagree with my statement, but I honestly think that Clans Fett and Skirata are the two greatest Mandalorian clans ever created by the Mandalorian way of life. Neither were perfect and both were iffy in their decision making MANY times, but deep down, they were good people. Though it would kill Jango, Boba, and their family to admit that. Jango Fett may have been a mercenary who was working with Sidious, though that last part was done unknowingly, and he was working for Dooku which is still very shady. However, he raised a good son for as long as he was able to. He led the Rebellion against Deathwatch after Jaster died until Galidraan. He loved his family and his adopted father Jaster Mereel. He was a warrior with every breath he took. Boba was no different. He got a rocky start, but he was a family man. He lost his father. He had a woman he loved and lost, because he wanted revenge for failing to protect her. He led Mandalore as double agents and then rebels during the Yuuzhan Vong War when he very easily could have turned traitor. He was a mercenary who found his family and did right by them. He led Mandalore to greatness once more with an incentive and lot of help. In his own way, he was a hero too. Clan Skirata were warriors before even Boba was. They fought for the Republic. They loved each other. They fought and bled in the worst campaigns so that they and the people of the Republic could be free of the pain and suffering the war brought. They were an unlikely blend of warriors brought together and bonded together. They never truly abandoned each other in their hearts and in their minds. They loved and they lost people and they never stopped fighting until the job was done. They got married and had children. Even after they fled the Empire, they kept coming back for the family that they still had left. They sacrificed their personal world so that people could be free during the Clone Wars before it all went down the drain. I could go on. Suffice it to say, they were heroes. Morally questionable heroes at times, but, still, heroes. Clan Skirata and Clan Fett were heroes to the end. They protected people and sacrificed themselves on missions most people never knew about and ultimately, they were loyal to their family. They were also jaded, edgy, and acted selfish many times, but that doesn't make them evil. That makes them Mando'ade and I wouldn't exchange that for anything. Oya Manda!
Watching The Armorer working on Mando an listening to the narration about smelting and working on Beskar in the Forge was giving me "Forged in Fire" vibes... Dunno about anyone else... An if some Holo series in their verse ever started, if that's a thing for them, the way Streaming Apps an Cable are for us .. which IS a distinct possibility it seems, can totally see the Mandalorian Enclave's Armorer as a judge on it... Sitting maybe next to DinJarin, a Jedi (maybe) or someone similar an some smelting or tech specialist like an Ugnaught or some kinda smelting Droid... Probably a protocal Droid Host to boot too
One can find out about both of them a little more easily than the history of the mandalorians. The vong are mostly contained in the legacy of the force novels, and Krayt to the Legacy comics. Until the Disney acquisition though, nothing was consistent about Boba Fett's story or the mandalorians.
@@noname-bu1uxYes, actually the Mandalorians were EXTREMELY consistent in Legends. If anything New Canon Mandalorians are subjected to arbitrary rules. Most of which are ridiculous and contradictory.
@@vetarlittorf1807 actually, most of the concrete stuff in legends about the mandalorians came out after attack of the Clones during the legacy of the force era, and the vast majority of it was written by Karen Travis, who's work I love, but it got her fired from LucasArts for her failure to adhere to the currently established Canon at the time, which I should remind you was less strictly guarded than it is now. Two things,
1. The stuff I've read said the world was Coruscant.
2. Myth claims that their are still Tong amoungst the ranks of the Mandolorians,
Notron is the ancient name of Coruscant, which was renamed after the construction of Galactic City
