    Very helpful to see how it goes on and off, I'm looking at one this weekend that has a factory hard top.

    Many thanks! Getting a new storage shed tomorrow for my hard top and be removing it on Thursday the way you do :) How heavy is it?

    • @TeslaDIY
      @TeslaDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on your body position, make sure you have a perfect balance on your lower body before you pick it up since its a rather big object and the weight is away from your body, so the main key is to make sure you can remain a good balance upon picking it up, if you have a slight hesitate, don't do it, or at least square up and try again. Try at your own risk and good luck =]

    • @markm-ci6rj
      @markm-ci6rj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      mission accomplished, not as heavy as I expected! Now trying to work out how the trip meter works and the air con, so if you fancy doing any more videos

    Do you still have the soft top roof in there or did you have to remove it in order for you to install the hardtop?

    • @TeslaDIY
      @TeslaDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bernard Yap hello, you don’t need to remove your soft top for hardtop installation, however, if you have no plan on using the soft top ever again, or if it was in bad condition to begin with, you may save some weight and create a bit more storage space in your cubby by removing the soft top.

    I would rather enlist the help of someone to take off my hardtop, I would not want to risk scratching my body paintwork.
    That is the most simplest way to remove the hardtop with no risk of damage to the car. :)

    Hey there, I was thinking about buying an Mr2 spyder for a daily. I see you know much about this car, do you have any tips or suggestions on what to look for when buying this car that is used such as engine problems. Thanks !

    • @TeslaDIY
      @TeslaDIY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Kendrick, first of all, thanks for watching my video(s). i actually don't know too much in detail, but i can share what i know about the car. Without going into too much detail,
      I would recommend a 5 speed or 6 speed (celica or euro spec mr2 factory 6 speed), don't get SMT although i've never had one, i heard it requires lots of maintenance in order for it to NOT break down.
      Watch out for precat, the precats on earlier models 00-02? are known to fail and can cost you a new motor. if the precat is still there, gut it or get a catless header.
      Ebrakes are known to freeze up and don't work anymore, its about 200 bucks in parts but requires dropping fuel tank to fix.
      Water drain for softtop tend to get clog from time to time ( i have had 4 spyders and 2 of them had drain clogged) easy fix, just get a stick to poke it and get all the stuff out the drain port.
      I guess Evap is a known issue too, there are many possibilities for evap code to pop up. many had posted what they did to fix the issue.
      Good quality aftermarket parts are hard to come by since no one are willing to spend time and money on these cars... atleast thats how i feel.
      Headlight lens are often hazy/foggy/yellowish/cracked.
      other than that, i have not had much issue with these cars, they are fun to drive, just have to becareful, take it easy and learn how to drive the car, know its limit. Front end can feel a bit light sometimes especially on the freeway

    • @k3nny235
      @k3nny235 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      4agemr2 wow thanks! I will definitely make sure to keep an eye on the stuff you listed. I also definitely prefer a normal stick shift rather than the sequential because that wouldn’t be no fun. Also one last question, how reliable is the 1zz engine and how many miles can it take on regular maintenance?
      I also drive a mk3 supra daily and found this underrated mr-s and am interested in this car btw. Keep up the great videos!

  • @paulshibbs
    @paulshibbs 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, what a difficult procedure. If you just squat down inside the car, you can stand up and walk away with the hardtop resting on your head. 1/10 the time.

    • @TeslaDIY
