We have ASA in California, although , my old club shot according to IBO rules in the 90's and early 2000's. IBO used to have a qualifier shoot in Arizona. I don't think they do that any longer. I love ASA Bare Bow class.
I don't think the various organizations have kept up or embraced new technologies in the sport of archery for quite some time and perhaps this is causing a decline in participation in the sport. I have several Bear Archery recurves and I shoot off the shelf and one has an elevated rest. I also have a ILF takedown cut past center and use an elevated rest, but no plunger and I also have a hybrid longbow. I use wood arrows with fletching and carbon arrows with fletching and some with vanes. These days it can be difficult for families and or individuals to participate in various events because of requirements of equipment, shooting styles and the cost involved to acquire the appropriate gear for the various association rules. Greg, you did very good and had fun with your Trad Bow.
In ASA's you call the upper. Asa dropped the Trad class because of a rule change that caused the lack of participation. In 2023 they went to WA rules for Trad. A wood riser was required. The ASA Trad class for 18 years I shot it at thr ProAm level was 80% metal risers. You eliminate 80% of your customers then wonder why attendance dropped.

Barebow in ASA, in Louisiana is dead, just like Trad, Mike Ellis is really trying to grow it and generate interest in it.
