Square Knot Bow for Tying Shoes

Probably half the population ties their shoes with a bowed version of a Granny Knot. This know quickly works its way loose, so you end up re-tying your shoes all day. One simple fix turns this into a bowed version of a Square Knot, which will hold!

Wow this is great!
I looked this up because yesterday I had a slightly embarrassing moment with one of my foreman on a job site.
He saw me retying my boots and told me it's because I don't do the square knot. He then proceeded to literally tie my boots for me like he was my dad XD
He was actually really helpful about it though and didn't shame me for not knowing.
I was determined to make sure I remembered that because I really appreciated it, so thank you for such a comprehensive yet concise video.

Bloody hell mate. Underrated I have been tying my lace wrong all this time. I didn't get the lingo about Grammy and flat and what not but when you said change the 1st half and do the 2nd half as normal i automatically Got it right.

I'm a lefty & went through into my 20's tying my shoes wrong with the granny knot because the bastards wouldn't let me do the opposite when I was a kid & get the hang of it my own lefty way. I remember saying that I wanted to do it with my left hand the way a lefty would do it.
I'm in my 40's now & have been using the square knot method for 2 decades & it's ridiculous that they didn't know to tell me I wasn't didn't it right when I was a kid.
A square knot holds up whereas a granny knot doesn't.
I was reading a thing about lefty people that day in my 20's (back when the internet was brand new) & it said if your shoes ever come undone you're using the wrong way & to try the square knot way. That lefty's ALWAYS get shown wrong & I was no different.
They NEVER come undone using this way. I was reversing which way I started the knot out because I'm a lefty & had to fix the beginning of the knot to get the square knot going right.
Guys if your shoes ever come undone you're not using the square knot method because it's a knot that doesn't give. This guy is giving you solid advice.
If you're a lefty double check your shit lol. If they ever come undone you're doing it wrong.

If you put the right string over the left then loop it and then loop from the back of the bunny ear and not the front then you still get the square not
