bought the kailh box white v2s from you're store, i thought i would get import tax. i didnt, took like 1 week to arrive, i am very pleased with this company. Thank you MilkTooth.
Even though i like melodic clicky. I kinda hoped the top housing is standart so i can use milky top / cherry top for frankenswitch. But it kinda my problem
I tested some of the Melodic for a review a few months ago and I was really impressed. I guess I need to get some more to put them in a board at some point!
i have tried some of the clicky switches and to me, my top is Kailh Navy/Jade follow by Melodic. None other clicky switches give me the feel of crisp and clear sound like the Navy, the Melodic also offer an unique sound as it use leaf spring mechanic, the sound is more on the low, creamy side.
These clicky switches seem quieter than I expected. I watched some of your video about tactile ones at similar botton out force and they seemed to sound slight louder. I'm interested in trying out clicky switches, but I'm not sure if clicky is just tactile but with loud clicky sound.
just wish the actual tactility of the melodic's click leaf was less intence. I too love the way they sound, but they get fatiguing to type on relatively quickly for me. love these top 5 videos btw, great work on the channel as usual 🫶🏼
I have Kailh Box v2 switches together with Zuoya GMK67-S and what can I say? It`s very perfect thocky-clicky sound. But there is one negative moment. Kailh Box form does not fit well into most plates. While I was inserting them into plate of my Zouya I have broke one hotswap socket. But with MMD Vivian v2 switches there was no such thing.
GREAT VIDEO!!! Maybe a dumb question but I have a hankering for a very *subtle* click in a switch. The Melodics seem to be the most subtle in the compare test at the end.. do you think the click could be even more subtle with some lube in the right places? I’ll prob have to just order a sample shipment. I just enjoy a super subtle click. Something I’ve never quite experienced before.
I wouldn't lube clicky switches if I were your though. I tried it once and it becomes muted pretty much like a Cherry brown switch, which defeats the purpose of a clicky switch in the first place.
@ I bought the TTC brother, gat melodics, and white v2’s to sample. I had experience trying to soften the click with Gateron greens which use the same mechanism as the TTC brothers (the separated bottom stem piece), I couldn’t get that to work still. Kills the click with a few dif lubing methods. Gateron melodic is a small metal piece that flicks the top housing. It was intriguing. I couldn’t seem to soften it, it just made it higher pitch and the pierce was a bit too much. Then I saw the Box White v2 has the coiled metal piece in the back which also slaps against the housing. I got my brush soaked in 206 and applied all over the wire where it slaps the housing. It actually worked very well to reduce the power of the click sound. I know this is a really weird and dumb desire but just had to share here that we did succeed in creating a reliably softer click, that doesn’t have variance. No matter where I press or how hard I press, the click is consistently softer
Are they as loud as box clicks? What do you think of this compare to outemu spring breeze switch? I'm looking for a light clicky switch for gaming, currently using box white v2 but for some reason they are really stiff for a 50g when they are not suppose to. Can you recommend this switch for gaming? I'm choosing between Outemu spring breeze and ttc brother
Whatever happened to Clicky Switches reputation? I remember when Mechcanical Keyboards were starting to become Mainstream in like 2012, I was always told Blues were the best and Browns were the worst with Red being the "Gaming" switch. But yeah nowadays I find it's been reversed, that Clicky and Blue Switches are the worst and Browns and Tactiles are the good and most people leaning towards Linears now. It's really jarring for me since I was there when Mechcanical Keyboards were becoming mainstream and then stopped caring since my Blue Switch Keyboard did me well for like 9 years. I find myself still prefering Clicky Switches the most if I'm alone, in a workspace environment I know it won't be good but in an isolated and private space, Clicky is more #1 preference still. I have tried Box Whites and Box Jades. I thought I'd like Box Jades and they do give a satisfying crunch and tactility, however they're too heavy. Box Whites are pretty good, being lighter, I'm able to type faster. So for now in the Clicky department, I enjoy Box Whites and the og Blues. Since then I have tried Brown Switches - I hate them but got used to them since I was in a working environment, they're very mushy and barely tactile. I hear such polarizing opinions of them, at first they were hated but now they seem to be accepted, so what is it!? I have tried out using Glorious Pandas and I'm typing this with them right now. I quite satisfied with them. But I still miss a nice little crunchy just so I know I hit the key that I wanted to hit. They're good to type but I don't see myself enjoying them during gameplay, I need that nice CRUNCH. I was eyeing the Gateron Melodics the most for a while, I'm still trying to decide what I want. It's like I want something that feels like the Glorious Pandas but with a Box White click as well. Any suggestions anyone?
the chosfox arctic fox clickie switch is pretty good they have a satisfying bump but stil maintains the clickie feel and they are pretty light they have a 52 gram spring and prelubed for added smoothnes and they are pretty unique. Its currently my favourite clickie switch u can find them in vendors like kineticlabs and they are in stock for they cost about 52 dollars for 72 switches so not that cheap but they are very good for there price
I think the reputation of clicky switches is down to the average preferred sound profiles. Nowadays, the most desirable sound profile lands somewhere between the marbly sound of an aluminum case, and the thocky sound of a full POM linear. I think clickies had a really good rep back in the day because it was the only popular choice from all major keyboard manufacturers. Especially once mechanical keyboards became popular in the gaming scene and companies like Razer took over the mainstream for a while, the only real popular options had cherry blues or proprietary clicky switches. Once the mkb community started to grow, so did the options for new switches, and more people were introduced to what else is out there besides clickey switches. I myself sit in the camp of linear enjoyers, but I cant hate on clicky switches too much cause it's what I grew up with in my Razer boards I used to love so much.
Honestly with how unbelievably crisp and clear switches like HMX are these days, even more so in a lot of boards that come with PET sheets, I'm not sure clickies even have a place anymore. If you like the sound profile whatever, but the actual functional purpose of the click is now outclassed by short-travel, clearly audible but super clean linears. Older firm setups with more traditional switches had a ton of background noise essentially, but modern boards with switches like HMX can be basically entirely a short bottom-out sound and nothing else at all, and knowing where the switch actuates isn't really relevant with
You really should, even just once at some point. There's too much hate against them in the space, despite having a unique typing feel and sound compared to the other types of switches. Those Outemu Spring Breeze are actually quite surprising for click jacket switches too, IMO. I do have to hand it to Gateron Melodics and Zeal Clickiez for sound though, but they're a bit too tactile for me.
@@MangoTangoFoxClickies have a completely unique sound signature and really sharp tactility, that just cannot be replicated by linears or tactiles. I say this as someone who isn't even a fan of mx clickies (alps clickies are cool though).
@@MangoTangoFox they're fun - you can be creative with them. chuck them in a numpad or some mods/esc or a 40%. HMX is getting boring with all these re-colours. this is a creative hobby. Expand your horizon lad
@@rayhustles1876 I tried all sorts of switches, clickies tactiles middle and top big and small, really put tons of thought into sound profiles and how they pair with different boards and different kinds of keycaps... and as soon as I got HMX I immediately stopped caring and haven't switched or thought about another switch since. Top bump tactiles are what I'd use for work that requires precision and no mistakes, but other than a slight accuracy decrease ("fatfingering"), everything else, sound, feel, speed, typing satisfaction, etc, is better on HMX stock with no work or effort at all. Err RGB is usually lacking, which I would appreciate having back, but it's certainly a trade-off I'm happy with for everything else.

They've grown on me a lot!
That clean click on Melodic is a crime, the fact that I can hear the scratch on Kailh's click bar when compared to the click on Melodic

do you still have the try out a switch program?
