@@robertwilliamsjr9516 more so in ethos I would say, but they do have songs that are bordering on the side of Not Available and Fimgerprince in terms of how experimental they are.
they've always been inspired by punk influences, i think it's totally accurate to call them a post punk band! though i do totally appreciate how totally punk this song is, it's a total banger X)
SAME HERE! It was at first ave in Minneapolis Minnesota and he looked at me or at least i believe so, straight into my soul several times through the show eye to eye contact oh it was great
Went to a TMBG concert recently in Charlottesville VA, and they played this in the concert along with their new songs from I Like Fun. They surprisingly still sound the same in 2018 as they were in 1997
oh my god -without even seeing your comment I was about to say that this is the greatest live performance of any song any band has ever done ever. Wow.
@r3dk9 In this performance, Graham Maby is on bass. He is most famous for being Joe Jackson's bassist and he played on TMBG's "Factory Showroom" and a few other things.
@suicidalpenguins4u flans is the chubby guy with black hair playing one of the most iconic guitars ever, gibson es-335. i've also seen them live about 15 times and have never ever seen flans playing the bass.
There were 87 Advil in the bottle now there's 30 left I ate 47 so what happened to the other 10? Why do you suspiciously change the subject and break my concentration As I dump the bottle out and I count the Advil up again? Don't interrupt me as I struggle to complete this thought Have some respect for someone more decrepit than yourself And I'm not done And I won't be till my head falls off Hitting every pocket on my shirt, pants and overcoat And I'm hitting them again but I don't know where I put my notes Clearing my throat, and gripping the lectern I smile and face my audience Clearing his throat and smiling with his hands on the bathroom sink And when I lean my head against the frosted shower stall I see stuff through the glass that I don't recognize at all And I'm not done And I won't be till my head falls off Though it may not be a long way off I'm not done talking yet I'm not done talking yet And when I lean my head against the frosted shower stall I see a broken figure silhouetted on the wall And I'm not done And I won't be till my head falls off Though it may not be a long way off I won't be done until my head falls off
i like john linnell. he can actually make non rock instruments make rock music. for example... an accordian is a polka instrument. just check out THE FAMOUS POLKA by THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. it is sort of a polka rock song
The feedback during the bass lead solo part fails. Great song nontheless and I'm greatful for the band to give us such great music. Factory Showroom is my fave.
They Might Be Giants are legends among weird people of the world.......I'm celebrating 20 years of fandom.......I've seen them 4 times.......just listen to "Boat of Car" or "Purple Toupee´" if you need your mind blown.......
wait was john flansburgh playing bass or guitar in this video? im assuming thats a bass guitar and not a normal electric guitar, because he plays bass for the most part. but i cant tell what it is in this video, because i know he can play normal guitar too.
TMBG let their disguise slip and reveal their true nature as a secret punk band.
+Kombucha idd someone on the production side is making them wash their faces/ eq board
You can't ever deny their residents inspiration, either.

They let it slip out once per album, see Dig My Grave and Stompbox
Linnell has a way of looking into the camera and smiling, and you are sure that he is smiling at you.
As opposed to smiling with you. It's the devil's smile.

@1:18 chills when FLANS turns up his amp
this is still one of the most unhinged tmbg performances ive ever seen its incredible
This is so typical and mild quite frankly. Very prompt ending lol not too bad.
@@patricwalker3551 thanks bro
And it's the best version of this song for that exact reason.
Linnell...Greatest lyricist in the history of popular music. Sorry Leonard etc.
flansburgh unstringing his guitar at the end LOL
HE IS DAMNIT. I swear he looked at me a zillion times when I went to their concert too. I nearly passed out
TRULY a shared experience
SAME HERE! It was at first ave in Minneapolis Minnesota and he looked at me or at least i believe so, straight into my soul several times through the show eye to eye contact oh it was great
Me too...
when linnell looks in the camera it makes me feel emotions.
Its much better when your in a crowd and its like he specifically looks at you straight eye to eye contact ❤

It is soooo good for sure
@@patricwalker3551 “In fact”- John Linnell
This has to be one of their most BWAAHH!!! in-your-face songs. Damn Good Times is another, I think.
I love the broken guitar string at the end

That's so metal!
@r3dk9 In this performance, Graham Maby is on bass. He is most famous for being Joe Jackson's bassist and he played on TMBG's "Factory Showroom" and a few other things.
This is DEFIANTLY one of their songs that just flow better live.

Not enough TH-cam likes for this performance :)
See Purple Toupee by TMBG

Yay Dan Hickey.

Then why are you watching this???
@phsycicmonkeys they always look sick at performances, not sick good, sick uggghhh i feel like i'm gonna throw up. but, who cares they are awsome.
Then, if they really are the shittiest band in the world, why do you WANT to watch this?
Am I the only TMBG fan who kind of finds Flansburgh prfoundly annoying?
Yes.
Yep.
Flans is perfect how dare you
I can’t understand how people can like the band and not Flans. His live prescience encapsulates everything TMBG stands for
No
