This was the demo I was looking for tonight - the sounds I wanted to hear played by a player on a real keyboard rather than just sequences alone - great stuff, great patches, many thanks.
I myself make patch libraries and sell them, but hearing this demo, I can honestly say I will be picking these up when my summit arrives. Absolutely stellar work. These are thoughtful and very very well constructed patches. They're almost the opposite of the one's I make, which is exactly why I love them so much. They're like a modern take on timeless tones and timbres found in legendary analog polysynths from the 70s, and 80s. Great sounding synths require great sounding patches and these really show it off. These should be bank A on a stock peak or summit in my opinion. Great work buddy.
I just want to chime in. I finally got a chance to load this patch library and test it out. It's easily the best patch library I've ever used; for any synth. It sounds like a collection of vintage synths got crammed into your Peak. I cannot recommend it enough. Loads of warmth and texture. Very musical. Totally usable. Once again I'm reminded of how terrible the factory patches represent what the Peak is capable of. These patches prove the Peak is on par with the best of the best (Moogs, Prophets, etc); and few people realize it 'cause it never sounds this good.
Alphacode Can’t wait to hear. The word on the street is that NAMM might see the release of a Bi timbral 16 Voice keyboard based Peak from Novation. With Waldorf releasing the Kyra and Sequential possibly doing a replacement for the Prophet 12, looks like this NAMM will be Wavetable City. Lol
Wow! The patch at 3:08 is a wonderful homage to the D-50 patch "Soundtrack" which is one of my favorite original presets from that board. (I used to own a D-50 and I still have a D-550.) Wonderful programming! Thank you for sharing and inspiring! Peace.
Nice patches man! This synth is in my opinion the best new thing of the past years. Sounds pretty analogue and has the digital advantages and flexibility. I need one.
Ok… I "liked" the video and subscribed. I bought a Peak in early December. THESE sounds are ALL along the lines of what appeals to me about analog synths generally… VERY NICE WORK. I noticed below your comment about offering these (roughly 100 sounds) for sale… I definitely want them. I'll hang on as I also read you're under the weather with the flu (get better soon).
Dear Alphacode, your patches made me buy the peak! Great work, man!!! Just sent you the money and am looking forward to get the soundpatches from you...
These patches are awesome, consider selling/sharing them. I am in a facebook group of PEAK users, and we are trying to get some collaboration and file sharing happening there. Thanks for showing what this puppy can do! So many haters out there lol
Get a multi midi, and multi mixer (each cost like $50), then if you have another synth, boom, multi timbral. I tri timbral sometimes with the Peak, the mililogue xd, and the mc707. You can get the mc101 or the minilogue xd module for $500 each. Both are great machines to supplement the peak, and they do their own individual awesome things. The 101 for example is also not just a sound module, but also sampler and drum machine. The minilogue xd module is its own nice analog niceness (unique character). You can get a used Peak for 1,000 even if you keep your eye out.
you have a great ear for tone, there is something about the peak it's so transparent and smooth not sure what I would compare it to, maybe nord but I think the peak sounds better generally than nord not that the nord sounds bad at all....I have the A1 ...too many options out there it's the golden age of synths 2.0 right now
I think this sounds like a step up from the nord, tone is living a more and sound more natural. I personally think i could replace most of my synths with this, analog as digital. Interface seem damn spot-on too!
Purchased the whole set (A+B+C). Great stuff, suits very well my needs. Novation should put such patches as factory on Peak and Summit. Good pricing makes the whole set a very good choice. Hope there will be more and more banks :) Keep up the good work.
To me, this is the best synth released in the last five years. Don’t get why so many people dislike it. Sadly for me, it’s too expensive for my small budget, and I tend to prefer smaller boxes. I know it’s very unlikely that Novation releases a “mini” version of the Peak. But I would buy it (even knowing that the smaller size means less “tweakability”).
Awesome demo man, these don't sound like stock patches, they are sensational patches, hope you release them for sale, that first patch wow ! Please consider sharing
I have to agree , stock patches were terrible and don't give justice to this synth. I have no problem selling them i just need to figure out what is the best way to do this ebay ? any recommendations welcome !
Paypal is the simplest. If you think you're going to sell more than a few, you might look at something like gumroad. Never considered ebay. Might work. BTW, I'm interested in buying.
These are all fantastic sounds. I wish it wasn't a nightmare to use Paypal from China, otherwise I'd definitely be down for purchasing the patches. Very well done, Alpha.
This thing looks awesome. I was considering a Matrixbrute or an Analog Four, but after this and a couple other nice demos I'm really leaning toward it because of its fantastic sound and versatility. "Peak" is a good name for it, because it seems it'll be very hard to top.
Hello .... the best presets I have bought online and I have over 5000 your arp are outbid all I'm waiting for the next banks and I will gladly support you in the next productions. Regards Michael Dlugosh
Prologue should have a better tone using VCOs but it lacks a lot of what Peak has it's down to taste. I went with Peak because I get the versatility of digital wave form generation and the tone of analogue filter and amps. Peak does have hidden oscillators for adding variation to the pitch and drift of the oscillators to make them sound more like VCOs and even the very unstable VCOs of the CS-80.
I agree. The only thing I notice with VCO's is more low and less high, something EQ can compensate for pretty easily. Or any plugin that adds some lower harmonics.
I really don't think vco's are overhyped. Maybe for hobbyist bedroom producers. But if you're really into sound, even just in the bedroom, hitting a key and hearing a vco ring out is a totally different experience from a dco or a digital waveform. With an all analog circuit, the sound just lives and breaths. There is a connection there. It is the difference between looking at a rock, and looking into the eyes of a girl that might like you. There is a lot of feeling coming back. A lot of people try to diss vcos, and I have to wonder, are they just talking out of their ass, or have they never experienced the thrill of intimacy? Or maybe they're just commercial producers and they know you can bury a digital oscillator in reverb, and the rest of the mix, and then slap reverb over the digi o, and an end listener listening on a 1.3 inch speaker in mono from a youtube rip won't be able to tell the difference, and you'd be right, you couldn't hear the difference. Not trying to dis dco's, or digi o's. It is just a fact that I've observed for myself. A fact I wish wasn't true. I'd love to get rid of my tankish, large poly vco from the 80's, get a vst and save all that space. But I feel the difference, it is night and day. I deal with the decrepitude, with the primitive midi spec (thank goodness that it at least has it, thanks Dave), with the price, with the clutter just to have that experience of liveness when I play it. And again, really really not trying to dis the Peak, I think it sounds amazing. I do think it tends to be clean and sterile, but that is a texture that you'd do well to have in your pallet. This demo sounds amazing, and I thought right away how much I'd really love to have those patches for tracks that I have parked, waiting for completion. It's all good, I don't know why everything has to be so black and white like vco's are the only oscillator type that is worth anything and people that don't have vcos aren't really making music, and then their opposite, a wave is a wave, a sin wave is a sin wave, they all sound identical, anyone thinks that there is life in vco's is just lost in woo and is full of shit. Forget all that. A place for everything in my studio. Only problem is I'm on an exceedingly tight budget during the golden age of synths. I don't think this is the second gold age, I think the first was only silver. I used to call it the golden age, until everything that is happening started happening. This is AMAZING. I literally never thought this would happen. And Behringer man, wtf... I literally have gas for a behringer product. wth? I wouldn't believe me if I told myself 4 years ago that I would gas over a behringer *SYNTH*. haha, madness out here.
only thing that could make this great synth better is LED indicators on all the knobs and faders so you can instantly see how a patch was programmed when loaded. its what made the nord lead 3 great, even with a somewhat clinical sound
Jim Pickins Load up this. The editor updates when you change patches on Peak to reflect the parameter values. maxforlive.com/library/device/4615/novation-peak-editor
Circular Gates I don't to see the relevance of this comment... he's a really good player and sound designer, watch his CS1x and SY85 videos, cheap synths but beautiful sounds. Calling someone a kiss-ass for leaving a supportive comment is rather crass.
Obviously he is a troll as he went and wastaed his time to reply to almost every one's comment in here , so apologies but i had to remove them. He is blind too aparently as you can clearly see PRO 2 on the bottom right wooden panel of the synth. oh well trolls will be trolls.
These sound gorgeous. I got the Peak 2 weeks ago and I'm loving building patches with it. With this video and some of the sounds I've made myself, I'm wondering mostly why Novations preset bank A and B sound so horrible.
your presets are really excellent.the only demo on youtube that show the real power of peak.I ve played some months ago and all the other videos created me a different impression of peak that the one i had with peak when i tried..do you prefer peak or Dave Smith prophet 8 rev 2?
Some really warm tones in this video. Nice. How are you finding the combination of Peak and Pro2? Once thought about that one more than a few times myself.
Thank You to all my Subscribers !!!!! a Xmas gift :) I will make some time today to upload a demo of The Dave Smith Pro2 Synth. I have already a couple of videos recorded of different synths i need to edit , Modular Stuff coming too. Let me know if you would like me to do tutorial videos on Modular perhaps next month ? Wish you all a great 2018 !
thank you for this great demo. Just watched the Rev2 demo of yours also. how would you compare the Peak to the Rev2, having played both? Sound, feel, user interface/experience, etc? cheers!
TechnoShamanism very different. The peak is better built in some aspects and in others not so well. Rev 2 felt a bit cheap. Knobs not aligned to center and woobly. Sound wise peak is sharper, and rev 2 mellow . Interface is easy on both so no complaints. I would get a prophet 12 or prophet X instead if had to get them again.
Alphacode curious what you thought wasn’t as nicely built on the Peak? I think it’s super solid every knob is metal shafted, and the sliders and nice and stiff. Great video I’ll have to send you cash for the patches sometime this week
Michael Uhl the data encoders for example are horrendous, alsothe black switches near dispkay should be white, in low light impossible to see what you press. Will send you the patches as soon as i get the funds. Thanks for watching !!!
Excellent patches. I find on poly synths it's often handy to be able to remove some of the bottom end because sometimes sounds can get a bit too full and muddy with so many voices stacked on top of each other. Peak doesn't allow the LP filter and HP filter to act simultaneously, so do you know if there's a way of removing bottom end (eg. an internal EQ?) when in LP filter mode?
@@alphacodesynth That's what I thought! Except the Peak doesn't seem drop much bottom end with the resonance up. It's a shame as I think some kind of bottom end control is important on a poly, and I'm otherwise sold on this synth!
this synth does really create some gorgeous retro vibes. I guess this would be an affordable alternative to an ob6 desktop
Several nice patches with the filter closed down for a mellow/warm tone. Just what I love to hear...!

People mainly care about buying vintage name brands.
I think the best use of the Peak really is with the wavetables. It really gives it its own unique sound.
Agree Bank B which I am working on contains plenty of these.

EverettDudgeon138 or not...
David Knight Yup, guess not. I think most new synth gear is likely going to happen at Knobcon or Superbooth. Seems this Namm was more guitar oriented.
Best demo I've heard of the Peak...will try to audition one myself now....
This synth has a really cool New Wave feel to it
Wow! The patch at 3:08 is a wonderful homage to the D-50 patch "Soundtrack" which is one of my favorite original presets from that board. (I used to own a D-50 and I still have a D-550.) Wonderful programming! Thank you for sharing and inspiring!

Wow these sound great! Very JUPITER 8
That sounds really good: Warm, bright, analog ... it's all in the Peak. I am glad, that I orderd one.

What midi controller are you using? Sounds Great 👍!
Nick B. - something from Dave Smith I think haha
Pretty sure it’s a DSI Pro 2!
bought!
Add resonnance :)
@@alphacodesynth That's what I thought! Except the Peak doesn't seem drop much bottom end with the resonance up. It's a shame as I think some kind of bottom end control is important on a poly, and I'm otherwise sold on this synth!
Hi, do you still sell this sound bank patches? Thank you!
Same question. :)
Hi sorry , yes of course both banks are still for sale.
@@alphacodesynth Still today? :-)
