Lupuの映像を検索中に遭遇した理想的なMozartの協奏曲です。Mozartの絶頂期ともいえる27歳ころ自信に満ちた宮廷趣味の横溢した傑作。笑い転げながら書いたのではと思わせるほど諧謔的なパッセージが随所に散りばめられていて興味尽きない作品です。Mozart時代のサイズに近い編成の管弦楽とサロン風な会場は一層この作品に相応しい情景を作り出しておりました。LupuのピアニズムがこんなにもMozartに相応しいとは知りませんでした。素晴らしいの一語です。

The way he looks over to the orchestra (especially to the winds) when they have the more important lines - it's so beautiful to watch. The performance is a true collaboration and a joy. Generous, ego-free musicianship. You will be missed Maestro Lupu.

u forgot Gould! and I completely agree on Richter and Sokolov (although I dont like his schubert, Schiff and Brendel and Richter do a much better job on Schubert)

I had the pleasure of hearing Lupu live in the 1970's, playing Liszt, Mozart, Schubert. One of the handful of top musical experiences in my life. He is truly awesome.

❤ Besides the outstanding quality of the interpretation, which is so obvious !!! I would like to draw your attention about the unique balance got by using a very few number of string instruments. For instance, as soon as the opening orchestra expositiob in the first movement, we can hear the solo flute as I neverso clearly heard .

Radu Lupu: A miraculous pianist. Not just playing, but transporting Mozart and all his talent and ability and presenting it to us in the most unique way.
A perfectly well balanced and highly spirited performance. Lupu is also a great Mozart player. I listened to him live, in Romania, several times and also listened to his recordings on the radio. The cadenzas in the first and third parts were composed by Mozart himself.
I like the pianist. He plays with deeper emotion. good striking techniques
Two neglected genius of the XX Century, Radu Lupu and maestro Zinman deserve to be recognized like the the extraordinary musicians they are!! Unfortunately fame isn't for everyone!!! Both artists were at the prime of his time. Really beautiful!!!

Didn’t I already tell you I’d be back? This man has the uncanny ability to bring everything together under his unique umbrella of rule of thumb. Serene and surveying every note of the rite of this glorious passage from early spring into the bursting cornucopia of mid-summer brilliant foliage. Over twenty years ago for my forty-seventh birthday I visited that august Meyerhoff Hall in Baltimore, Md. where he was featured in Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto. I had a premium seat on the left side of the auditorium to see his hands on that Steinway keyboard. He strode onstage looking the veritable mad scientist and I was ready to go wherever we might wind up. Galaxies, nebulae, skirting a black hole didn’t matter because I was supremely confident being on cool Radu’s starship. I hope to take a very similar trip before leaving this earth. Mr. Lupu played those coruscating trills and intervals in the finale like Jupiter and Mars conjoined and the sun shifted on realignment. One of my most memorable live concerts ever. Radu Lupu, in 1968 a prezentat toate cele 5 concerte pt. pian si orchestra de Beethoven. Mai intai cele trei (op. 15, op.19 si op.37), iar a doua duminica cel in Sol-major (op. 58) si Imperial, op. 73. Era o performanta de nedescris!! ca un tanar de 21 de ani sa cante cu atata inversunare si talent toate cele 5 concerte. Tocmai se intorsese din America, unde castiga-se un premiu. L-am apreciat mult, si L-am pus la egal cu Valentin Gheorghiu, idolul meu din tinerete. Este un mare talent, insa nu inteleg, unde s-a pierdut in haosul vietii, la fel ca Roberto Benzi.
Translation: Radu Lupu, in 1968, presented all 5 concerts for. the piano and the Beethoven orchestra. First, the three (op.15, op.19 and op.37), and the second on Sunday in Sol-major (op.58) and Imperial, op. 73. It was an indescribable performance !! as a 21-year-old to sing with so much reverie and talent all 5 concerts. He had just returned from America, where he won a prize. I appreciated it a lot, and I put it on Valentin Gheorghiu, my idol in my youth. It's a great talent, but I do not understand where he's lost in the chaos of life, like Roberto Benzi.

Chris Phillips You are totally correct.Murray Perahia playing Mozart piano concerto 25 and Mozart Rondo K382(Perahia has the best structure for the music).Ashkenazy playing Mozart piano concerto no 20(the most colorful piano sound) Ashkenazy his recording of Prokofiev piano concerto no 2(the most volcano touch and the most vulcanic piano sound.
d2d4e6 Also, Goode 17 and 23 will knock you out. He has that thing like Lupu for depth and sublety. Lipatti and Schnabel sonatas might interest you along with Cliburn, Pires and Gould.
Yes, Ashkenazy has real verve awesome Tchaikovsky, Chopin (Ballades=devastating!) and Schubert.

I have loved this piece for close to fifty years. You play it like “budder” wrapped in royal velvet. I enjoyed it as never before. Mozart surely would envy this interpretation. I heard Radu Lupu's live in 1987. Though I used to hear his Schubert,he played Mozart's Rondo K.511,sonata K.330,K.310 and Chopin's sonatain B minor op.58. I like his Brahms,too.
I heard the same programme, it's the Chopin sonata I still remember. The largo was haunting!

Last movement is very operatic. Orchestral presentation of all themes is followed by the entrance of the piano. The aria is of course pianistic instead of vocal but the harmony there could have been used to fashion a vocal treatment. The interplay of piano and orchestra has lots opera Buffa quality One gesture used as a closing of the movement is very Papageno-like. The Pianist and conductor contribute greatly to this opera like treatment.
