Very lucky that here in Ohio, USA, despite being on lockdown, our government has said it’s OK to get out and fish...provided we keep 6’ distant from each other! I hope the authorities in the UK open things up enough to let you guys out fishing, soon. Mostly though, I hope you all are staying healthy. Love the videos, Graeme, been a fan for a long time, you and Haight’s Wanderings are raising the TH-cam fishing channel bar!

It was amazing to see how quiet was your large Eel. The last time I caught one I was fishing on the bottom for Carp using meat. I netted it and a few seconds later it had bitten through my line, bitten through my net and returned to the water! I was very pleased to see the back of it!

You are right Graham one rod rule in Canada unless you are ice fishing the crazy thing is Carp are seen as vermin and there is no limit on catching or killing them even bow fishing for them but you can only use on rod which really makes no sense as it’s rare to catch anything else while using boilies

In the UK everything goes back on the rivers and coarse lakes, Trout fisheries you normally pay per tally of fish. For example you can book a ticket from 1 - 4 fish and pay for what you want to catch. Even then some Trout fisheries have catch and return. Over here we only have small lakes as we are just a small island we don't have the vast area's water like in the States.

That eel looked maybe 4lb, decent alright. Unusual in the day as well. All those little twitchy takes you missed could be eels as well, perhaps they're daytime feeders in that lake. Had that happen on some lakes when pike fishing with deadbaits, twitchy takes you can't connect with.

Most definitely. One poor chap last year thought on the same lines, thought he didn't need a Rod licence on private waters but, the Bailiff came around with the local constabulary in tow checking licences, this one chap didn't have one, had all his expensive Carp kit confiscated. If i recall correctly there is a video on YT somewhere.

Graeme, do you ever eat anything without thinking this would make a good bait? Great vid as usual... Thank you & keep safe!

Bait is the priority for me. Probably from doing too much Big Game fishing years ago when everything was eaten by something else.

Lay the eel on it's back and stroke it's belly, mate. Calms them down...as for the fry up; Brown HP or Daddies. Everyday of the week!

Graeme, have you not tried a wireless mic? Must be easier for you.
    Thanks for the entertainment 👌🏼

Thanks for entertaining us again with a great video. Would have been good seeing a wels. That was the biggest freshwater eel I've ever seen. Did u weigh it? I know you don't often weigh fish, what would you have estimated it to be ?

I would say 3 - 4lb. Used be able to catch these on regular basis but lucky to see one that size now.

Why didn't you weigh the eel Graeme? That's a specimen, and all fish count. Don't they ?
