    CENTIPEDE is one of the best Arcade games,
    i have ever played.
    I even played the original Arcade table
    version of this game at a former
    Arcade game hall in Pitäjänmäki,
    Helsinki (Finland 🇫🇮) in the spring 2016.
    Now, i still have the Commodore 64 version of this game on the cartridge (loose) 😺👍🕹️.
    TI/99 version of this game looks and sounds absolutely amazing 😺👍🕹️.
    Even the graphics are brilliant 😺👍🕹️.

      Yep Cetepede was and is a brilliant game, bettered by Millipede but still a classic.
      I also have it on my Arcade1Up for rollerball goodness, along with Millipede, great fun.
      Cheers Arttu😺

    Love this game and it’s fab to see in play on the TI. That box is is incredible condition.

      Thanks Ed, a classic isn't it.
      I did always love the Atarisoft TI99 boxes, that bright yellow looks so cool. Sadly they were also very thin so not many survived in good condition like this.
      Have a fab weekend yourself buddy👍

    I've never played centipede on anything, although I've watched it played so many times I feel like I've played it.
    Looks like a great version.

      Wow really? I can't believe that mate, thought it was one of those games everyone of our generation would've played in the arcades or some system or other. You missed out but not too late to put that right😉 The arcade with trackball is of course THE best, but there are loads of good ports of it on other systems.
      Can't think which of the speccy clones was the better, hmm 🤔
      Cheers Dave buddy👍

      Hey you're the second person to say that about Centipede Alex. One of the absolute arcade classics(although its sequel Millipede was even better), it does play best with the rollerball. I suppose you being alot younger than me arcade games like this weren't around so much.
      Have a great weekend fella👍

    I found I spent the video yelling "shoot the mushrooms" at the screen. It is a most frustrating game to watch someone else play. I do wish we would have gotten Millipede as well, as whoever was given the Centipede project excelled at TMS9900 Asembly (so often unrealistic deadlines gave the Atarisoft crew precious little time to become familiar with the hardware they were coding for). Centipede looks, sounds and plays great. All the Atarisoft games were good at one of those things, occasionally 2, but this is a tittle were they hit the trifecta.
    This is also the Atarisoft game I like the most and play the least. It had become a tad too frenetic in my geriatric years, and atarisoft provided me with gorgeous (and slowpaced) PacMan and Ms PacMan which are far more suited to an old fart's speed, so I default to them instead.
    The other one that impresses is Shamus. Maybe our hero is a single colour sprite, but everything else is ported beautifully, and the maps are faithfully recreated so that any generic walk through maps you find online will get you to the end of the game.
    Thank you for shinning love at the 4A as you so often do.

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hehe well if I have you yelling at the screen that can only be a good thing😁😝
      Haha, like most of my gameplay there's rarely any rhyme or reason to my strategy, I just enjoy randomly playing. On that subject I found myself turned away from taking part in high score challenges as once I realised the proper point scoring strategies for alot of games it actually took away some of the fun for me, crazy I know😄
      I think I mentioned this was one of the few games we didn't have from AtariSoft back in the day, the only other was Pole Position. We definitely missed out not having Cetipede, absolutely brilliant port.
      I'm lucky as I have the Arcade1up Centepede cab which has Millipede also and of course they're a blast to play again with the correct controls, even if the screen ratio is wrong way around.
      Anyway thanks as always for watching, plenty more TI99 to come👍

    As you said, a cracking version on the TI-99, most games you show on it looks great to be fair, think I'd have been alright if my parents had got me one of those instead of the Speccy like was supposed to happen. Definitely can't go down that hole now though 🤣👍

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah the TI99 had some amazing ports and exclusive titles, but when it came to price and game library it could never compete with the humble speccy.
      Buying new games for the TI99 was a special event that required a several mile round trip, once I had my Speccy I could just nip across the road and buy s new release for a couple of quid, it was a revelation!
      Really happy to have grown up with the TI99 experience, but of the two you had the better deal with the Speccy 😉

    That box looks minty fresh! This looks like a good version - I've never really played the game seriously, only ever been a quick go and that never ends well 😆Maybe I need to rewatch the training montage from Pixels and git gud.

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's funny because I've played Cetipede a ton over the years but I've never bothered trying to learn any scoring techniques. To be honest I prefer to play my games that way, main reason I stopped taking part in high score challenges as often once the best way to beat games was pointed out it kinda killed the fun for me so I prefer ignorance and just playing for fun. Mind you I've also never really been a high score chaser either so I guess I'm just an oddball😁

    Good old Centipede. It plays well but I still think a little more could have been squeezed out of it, a few multicolour sprites and some noise effects rather than the basic sound effects would have helped push it to the next level. It's pretty much the same as the Colecovision version and I know the TI can do better as was proven by the TI version of Q*Bert which was graphically superior to the Colecovision version.

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I must admit to me this is near perfect, but I'm sure you're right that it could have been even better as you understand the ins and outs way better than I do.
      Must say we really missed out not having this one back in the day, I'd have been delighted with it. Not sure how we never had it, perhaps Parco never had stock the times we visited as the only other AtariSoft game we didn't have was Pole Position and that's because the guys told us not to bother😄
      Cheers as always Allan, btw I managed to get hold of that Greg guy via facebook messenger and my games have now finally despatched. About time but happy at least.

      @@Tetlee You were lucky to have Psrco near you. I remember their adverts from years ago, I've still got some of them but I distinctly remember them advising Robotron for the TI, the game did exist but never got a release. I seen Arcade Shopper did an Atarisoft compilation cartridge which actually had Robotron on it. Oi know Greg is on the Facebook group as he is a moderator, he also tried to get my 512K Corcomp memory expansion board for my TI PEB off of me, not letting that one go though. 😊

    Good choice of not using the original TI joysticks. They where terrible. We used to use them upside down because it was easier on thr hands!

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha yes they were terrible, but hard to believe now that back in the day I never thought anything negative about them. I suppose as I'd never used other home joysticks at the time they just were what they were. Now however, my poor fingers & thumbs would kill me, I guess age doesn't help😆
