Something that helped me decide if 1 moa would be too small or not, was my experience with Eotech EXPS holographic sights. The center dot on those is 1 moa, so just envision that on an rmr on your firearm to get an idea.
I have found the opposite in terms of dot size and astigmatism, I use 6.5/5 in RMR and SRO because they are a less fine point of light... with an astigmatism, the bloom can come from concentrated points of light (think looking up at stars or a red laser on wall etc) and it is less the more dispersed the light is. Also even if this is not true for everyone, the streaks/blobs that come from the bigger dots are less size compared to the dot. Just my .02 YMMV
It's the same thing for me. I used a 3.25 moa RMR for years. When I tried the 6.5, with my astigmatism, I noticed that the dot appeared much cleaner for me.
I went back to the 3.25 from the 1moa because the dot seems brighter at a lower setting. Especially for when the dot is on "auto" setting. I carried a 1moa for two years, I usually adjust the dot in the morning and make sure it's at the proper setting, but I decided to get to the range late one night and when I drew from the holster I found out it had reverted to auto setting, and the 1moa wasn't visible with my x300 turned on, and it was barely visible when I shut it off. I then decided the 3.25 was a better option for me, because on the off chance I do ever have to draw from concealment and the dot auto feature is on, it's more likely to be bright enough for me to see.
Probably the best explanation I’ve found especially as you addressed astigmatism and bloom. I was banging my head trying to find a 6 moa, especially one that wasn’t the same price as my pistol. I’ll get a 3 moa.
Burris Fastfire 3 comes in 8 MOA for about $200. For a bit more w Holosun EPS comes in 6 MOA. There's also the 6MOA 407K. I prefer a larger dot on a pistol in general or on a special purpose rifle, such as for Steel Challenge which is about fast target transitions. It's easier to get a larger dot on target faster and they appear less shaky.
Great video! U gave me alot to think about when shopping for my RMR. I also agree with getting a smaller dot with having astigmatism. I like the fact that I have more options with a 1 moa dot
1 MOA would be great for plinking. Seems way too small for a self-defense setup at which point 3 MOA seems appropriate. 6 MOA would obliterate too much; however, if you're into 6 MOA just up the intensity to flare out the dot.
I discovered i had astigmatism when i got a dot for my pistol, i had chosen a 6moa because it seemed getting a big dot was a good idea for a beginner. I now know i should have went for the smallest dot i can because i'm seing a big blur in my 6moa (still useable but could be much nicer). Will try the 509T and it's 2moa dot on my new pistol. Glad i bought a cheaper red dot as my first red dot (venom).
@@Qsaws_ tried both in store! I have astigmatism! i also see a little magnified 6 moa dot. at 2 moa dot it doesn't bother me because it's much smaller. the only thing that worries me is,how 2 moa dot will show up in the strong sun!?
rm09 is sitting in the mailbox when I get home. Looking forward to seeing the diff between this and my 06. Let Trijicon know you were responsible for the sale bro.
In my opinion, the window Size Doesn't Matter because we keep both our eyes open. Those that Clues and I which is doing it the wrong way, are the ones that care about window size. Keep both eyes open
@@KineticConsulting yeah, I totally agree, was speaking to the durability, if you have seen any difference between window size in relation to durability
@@KineticConsulting that's what I was thinking too, I'm choosing between a 22mm and a 27mm window for a carry and a gun for work. Kinda seems like the bigger, the More easily it would break.
I have astigmatism and the Holosun red dots as they bloom less than my Trijicons. I have an SRO with a 1 MOA dot but I have a 3.25 MOA RMR and an RMRcc. I noticed that with my SRO where the dot enlarged when I turned up the brightness.
Nice to see a video focusing on size of dot. I will be aiming for 1 moa as well

Same with me. The 6.5 was clearer than 3.25.
I never realized i had astigmatism until i used a red dot and it was an oblong shape rather than a perfect circle
I'm rocking the Amber 12.9 MOA Triangle radical. Loving it.

I'm currently saving up to get a Glock 34 Gen 5 done up by Agency. It will be my first experience with them so I'm pretty anxious!
Very good information and extremely helpful and useful. I appreciate you taking the time help. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Great video dude! You answered a lot of my red dot questions!
You should have more SUBs for sure
I appreciate it, but I do this to help people, not subs.
Agreed, I could listen to his melodious voice and enjoy his succulent olive skin all day.
keep the great info coming. Thanks

loving the venom 6moa
have you switched to 2 moa dot? what are your impressions? i have a dilemma what to buy 407k with 6 moa dot or 407c with 2 moa dot

For a home defense set up where I am close to my target, would 6 MOA be more appropriate?
Anything works. I prefer smaller.
I'd say yes. What did you go with?
