Been shouting out about Simon for over a decade. Worthy successor to Gary Moore, and weirdly born just a few miles away. Great blues rock. What's even more impressive is that he has the full arsenal of modern techniques, and can shred just as well/fast as Gilbert, Vai, Satriani et al, but uses his speed tastefully, and in short bursts, which takes great restraint and discipline. Great to see him now playing to huge audiences with Purple!
Simon you are like my twin x 50 lol....what really blows my mind is growing up Purple was my band, but getting older I opened up as well, and all the bands you mentioned were the same bands I too were drawn too. Maybe your my brother from another guitar player creating mother! LOL.....anyway so happy to hear they picked you to fill in for Steve. My dream has always been to open for purple. I have to say they have heard my band "Fluidhead" thanks to Dave Hodgenkson. Thanks for being a great new inspiration for me, and at 63 I'm so glad I'm still playing, and still love it. Saw Simon at the Dallas International Guitar Festival a few weeks ago. He and another guy that played with Paul Reed Smith just tore it up. Amazing stuff.
