    Just picked one of these up (replaced the 27GP850-B) and in a lot of ways, the image quality is very similar, which is a good thing. The biggest improvement (aside from the increased pixel density) is the black uniformity. I wouldn't say the 32GQ950-B has a huge advantage in contrast ratio but my 27GP850-B had some pretty serious backlight bleed and just general black level inconsistency (especially in the lower left corner). The 32GQ950-B, on the other hand, is essentially perfectly uniform across the entire display. I knew it was going to be better based on this review and others but I was actually surprised at how much better.

    • @xxx333mmm
      @xxx333mmm ปีที่แล้ว

      what is your opinion on 27gp850 is it ok i heard some people have some headache or nausea from nano cell displays and how are the colors ? i think this gq950 is overpriced and still not as good as oled for the same money you can get 42 inch lg c2 ...

    • @GordonGEICO
      @GordonGEICO ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xxx333mmm The 27 GP850 is not bad, but it's a couple years old at this point, so there are cheaper options.
      Aside from the backlight bleed, I didn't have any issues with the GP850. I calibrated it with Calibrite Color Checker Display Pro and the colors were great.
      And it was good for gaming across a wide refresh range in a couple different overdrive modes.
      I personally never had any issues with headache or nausea, but I have my displays calibrated to a fairly low 100 cd/m^2, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
      Unless you can get a great deal, though, I'd still say shop around because you can probably find a newer monitor with better or same performance for cheaper.

    This monitor is ranked on top of my list but I’m waiting for ASUS to release their 32” mini-LED UQXE model. Sure it might cost twice as much as the LG but need to see if it’ll have at least HDMI 2.1 which last year’s UQX didn’t have.

      @@armen1136 ASUS actually does already have a 32 inch mini led which they released last year. The model is PG32UQX. The two main problems with it is that it costs nearly $2,600 and it doesn't have any HDMI 2.1 ports. This year's model supposedly will be cheaper with less dimming zones but it should have at least one HDMI 2.1 port. The model will be PG32UQXE. Been using this one for a week now, I absolutely love it. Only issue I have is that it has a sleep mode function issue, It doesn't detect new signals and won't turn on when I start up any device connected. I have to change inputs manually every time, Hoping there will be a firmware update to fix that issue. Other than that I love the display. I didn't know the monitor had software OSD as well, I found out when I went to LG's website and looked at their support tab, It's always nice to have software OSD.

      Hey Armen
      Another thing I just found out about the monitor, well at least on mine.
      You can't have your console powered on and pc powered on at the same time. If you turn off your pc and switch to your hdmi input, it will not pick up your console. You have to turn off the monitor, so it can pick up the input source???? Same on pc, for some reason my audio on pc stopped working while both console and pc were on also???
      This is getting a bit frustrating 😑

    • @armen1136
      @armen1136 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Pinkfloyd1173 Yup. It can only detect one source. When I just have my pc hooked up it detects it just fine. It won’t detect any of the HDMI ports though. Again an issue I never had on my old monitor, it is a bit frustrating. At first I thought I had a defective monitor, but it’s just how the display is. I’m wondering if that could be fixed with a FW update. I remember when I tried the BenQ Mobiuz Ex3210U, it never had this issue, it would detect every input, regardless of what I had connected or powered on

    HDR Color Gamut (not SDR) is usually better in VA (Odyssey or Neo). Side by side Neo in HDR would probably look better. The contrast is much better and deeper blacks in Neo. This comparison will be definitely there on youtube, one blogger will do that but he confirmed that the contrast wasn't great in this model (no true local dimming zones). An aggressive curve 1000:1 (Neo 16:9 series, for 32:9 it's needed) could be a deal breaker, though.

    I like this monitor a lot! Thank you for the introduction. I think for 799 this would be a good deal. But with the limited amount of zones, the HDR is bad and its just an another 4k, 32, 144hz monitor.. as the Acer XB323QK, Gigybute M32U, FI32U... is. So why its so expensive? Because it can hit 1000 nit peak brightness in HDR content?

    • @DavidFregoli

      yes it has decent HDR because it gets very bright

    This monitor just sucks at HDR, even the Sony Inzone M9 which have 3x more zones (32 on LG vs 96 on Sony) sucks, imagine this cashgraber. It might be a good monitor for SDR usage, but it's just factly terrible for HDR. The pricing for this is just terrible, better of going for the GP950 instead or go directly to the Samsung Neo G7 (don't get the Neo G8, scanlines problems and more prone to QC issues due to the highly forced 240Hz) and hope to get a good unit because that is the only LCD panel capable of true HDR, and the only "acceptable" HDR contender (Inzone M9) just sucks by looking videos up like the ones posted by Hardware Unboxed/Monitors Unboxed.

    You can boost colors with the samsung but you can't boost black levels and contrast with this one. Anything with darker images like movies or darker games the bright blacks will hurt.
    Also people need to stop equaling HDR to super brightness. HDR is high dynamic range not high brightness range so a display with deep blacks can be as good if not better than a brighter one with higher black levels.

    So basically the 27GN950 but bigger? All the last 3 "Flagship" gaming monitors from LG are just updated versions on the previous one. 27GN950 -> 27GP950 -> 32GQ950. 3 years of the same shit. And the 32" is even worse. The last 2 were borderless. But this must have have a border? Why? The last 2 had amazing design. Still could be better. But good design. Cant wait for next year with same monitor but updating it with USB type-C.
    Man.. LG needs to step up the UltraGear line up. Look at how many monitors samsung put out. Or even the EVE monitor that came out in "2020" with everything the LG monitors are now adding to their monitors. It even has a type-c port which no UG monitor has. Cmon LG. Stop slacking. Get your shit up.

    Edge-lit local dimming is not acceptable for a monitor at this price, in my opinion. There are 4k monitors in this price range with much better local dimming.
    Honestly, I'm holding out for a QD-OLED 4k monitor.
