If they can win a few more games, even if they lose to the best opponents left on their schedule, Jedd Fisch should be in consideration for Big Ten Coach of the Year. He took over a total mess, and right now, the team looks like it's on an upward trajectory.

@ChrisBuchignani I mean the guy has some serious NFL pedigree. Was around people like McVay, Shannahan, Pete Carroll, Harbaugh. Dude knows how to win and how to prepare a team. Wouldn't be surprised if he did

I mentioned this in a comment further down. We were actually taping as James dropped that info in his post-practice media availability. I'm pleasantly surprised, because I thought the situation looked dire last week. Donkoh is playing great, and he'll be a big asset for PSU's offense!

A couple notes on this one:
    1) I realize I said the “2002” recruiting class when I meant the *2022* class. Allar, Abdul, Nick, Kaytron, maybe Vega, KJ pending health status, all likely gone to the NFL after this year. Can’t waste this window of opportunity.
    2) We were filming this as Coach Franklin announced that they expect to have Anthony Donkoh available on Saturday. A pleasant surprise based on how he looked coming off the field last week, but great news for Penn State.

I will be very happy with a solid PSU win. It will be a big move to bigger and better things. But I have strong concerns. USC will be smarting after losing to Minny. They are not easy to beat when playing at home, and they can get on a roll with their passing game. It's tough for eastern teams heading to California to play. Oh well, let's see what happens.

Moss is a smart savvy QB, the last time we faced a similar QB was against Bowling Green and that game was WAYYYYY closer than it needed to be. The running game SHOULD travel but the West coast travel also bothers me. Penn State wins 27-24 absolutely not comfortable with that pick

Elite defense travels just as well as dominant rushing attack!!!!!! WE ARE 27-13 my Nittany Lions 🦁 are winning and possibly by way more than I think!!!!! For a change, I think we have a fast start and never look back!!!!

I can be an angry PSU fan myself but my god Kevin Horne makes me look like the mailman in comparison, this guy is seriously ptsd from Franklin and I get it but dude at least pretend that you are not some pissed off all of the time because I would venture a guess that most viewers of this podcast want to feel a little better after watching , not like jumping off a high roof lol....

I think reasonable fans expect to beat Ohio State 40% of the time, depending on how you choose to view our program.
Most of us would like to consider Penn State a top-tier program, which means we should be competitive with other top-tier programs. That doesn’t mean we always win, but it means we need to win roughly half the time, and we should generally not be getting blown out. And if you want to say, “OK, well, we’re simply not going to be at the level of Ohio State,” that’s a longer discussion, but we should still be beating them 3 or 4 times out of 10 meetings, and we should pretty much always be playing them tough.
I think the problem for a lot of us is that we see that they really haven’t been playing them tough in the Franklin era. They just fold. We play Michigan and lose. We play Ohio State and lose. And to be fair, some of the early Ohio State games were close, but that only matters if you’re occasionally on the winning side. But even when it’s close, Ohio State always finds a way to come out on top.
    It’s frustrating, and frankly, unacceptable.

If you look at how much money each program invests in FB, PSU is much more competitive with OSU than you think. We definitely have been investing more, but that came after years of Franklin pounding the drum. And when we take several steps forward, so does OSU. We want to consider ourselves a top tier program, but not doing the investment is kind of crazy. Almost a bit of entitlement.
