Some really great pieces here. His range is just astounding. A true master.

It isn't so astounding, any more, if you know that he is a reincarnation of Brahms.

I LOVE Father and Son from Jaws. One of the best moments in the film, and scored wonderfully. So playful, yet with that ominous bass line.

Perfect! Awesome to find someone who noticed and really appreciatted that moment too!

Agreed. That bass maintains a creepiness to the track that leads well into the next scene in the film when Roy Scheider is leafing through the book about sharks. He's just looking at a book(!) and yet Williams' music makes that scene decidedly dark and creepy.

One of my favourite cues by John Williams and possibly in all of the film scores I’ve heard! For me, it conveys the emotions portrayed in the scene so perfectly.

_Nice._ I made a video a billion years ago that used two Williams cues, one from _Nixon,_ “Growing Up in Whittier” and another from _Hook,_ “You Are the Pan.” It was a tribute to Natalie Portman called _The Allure of Natalie Portman._ Those two pieces are so beautiful. It’s still on TH-cam, I think. A friend wanted to upload it to his channel.

      Revealing in what sense?

Revealing of the gems that have been hidden. The “big hits” are what get played in concerts and on the tribute albums. Here we have the snippets that helped make the films so effective but didn’t always garner a lot of attention on their own. They still do demonstrate the great skills of JTW!

@@brucekuehn4031 That is an interesting view: the small, inconspicuous beauties making a film effective. Concerning the skills of Williams, I assume that he has trained already during incarnations as Johann Sebastian Bach and Johannes Brahms. Just pay attention to his name, as well as to his looks and his slowly developing, noble style...

The "Father and Son" cue, and its reuse in the credits of "Jaws", is just stunning. A perfect synthesis of the movie's depiction of the wonder and the horror of nature. I still think, after all these years, that "Jaws" is Williams's greatest score.

The oboe playing the teddy bear theme from AI in "Perfume" is a brilliant melody only JW can write. Astounding. He's the last of the great composers...

Des suites orchestrales qui malheureusement ne sont pas programmées lors de concerts dédiés à John Williams, du moins en France.

There are other gems to add. "Images", "Monsignor", "Jane Eyre", "The Eiger Sanction" and from the "Fury" I would add "Epilogue" (strings version of the main theme).
