I daily drove (commuted) a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS from 1997-2019. It was the best car I ever had. The two rear windows would get stuck and have to be helped up. And, the power antenna quit. I manually raised and lowered it. It was gifted to me by my grandmother after my grandfather passed in 1996. Always garaged. It was black over gray leather. I think it just needed a fuel pump when I sold it with just under 170k miles. No rust, no accidents, black paint still shined, perfect leather and carpets. I babied it for 20 years. I now drive my dad's '04 Accord. It's another good one!
My dad gave me his white 88 Ltd trailer special I just changed the heater core as my first fix on a car😁💪🏼. I’m loving that dash, mine is super cracked from the Cali sun lol. Glad to see some people actually like these cars still Bc I LOVE this car. I feel sorry for anyone who’s never rode in these, so smooth me and my brothers always fell asleep in the (sleep machine)😂great memories
These are the best cars of the Panther Platform. I owned 2 of these eras, a 1988 and 1991 MGM, also a 2003 and 2006 MGM. I loved my 1988 the most. Can't wait to see the restore and see what you do with it!
Have a 91 Crown Vic Lx that was parked at least 4 to 5 years, at least, if not longer .she put up a fight but she is back on the road. I am in the northwest GA area,we still gotta a few of those hanging around
If you're just looking for a stock replacement, an AOD is what would come in them from the factory. A word of caution, though: be absolutely sure to check the TVcable connection at the throttle body. The plastic clip is known to deteriorate and fall apart over time. This allows the cable to become disconnected and will burn up the transmission if driven long that way.
I have an 88 LTD as well but mine stays inside out of the weather.. been working on stripping the vinyl roof off due to it having some small splits in it and i didn't want it to rot the roof.
@@TorquePowerVideo From what I have seen yours is still really nice and I am betting if you stripped that off it could be saved. It's some work but worth it in the end.
Sorry to say I haven't done much with the old girl lately. I've been working on other cars, but I do hope to get it back on the channel soon and at least get the windows working on it.

I agree. They're great cars. I just put tags & insurance on it, plus bought a new set of tires. Look for more content on it soon!
@@TorquePowerVideo Thats awesome, love to see the old box panthers get new life back into them. Look forward to seeing!
Good deal with the Crown Vic! Looking sweet
Thank you! It's really nice to work on something else for a change! I'll get back on the Mustang soon enough, but I like variety in my projects haha
Beautiful LTD Crown Vic .. keep that as long as you live brother, she's a kegend❤❤❤
I own an 89 Crown Vic. It's slow and boring... but also the most insanely relaxing experience I've ever had. I love old, big cars.
It's like riding a couch 😄
@@TorquePowerVideo Yes. When you're an accountant and have a stressful day at work, there's nothing else you'd rather drive.

That's awesome! Every time I tell someone about this old thing, I get to hear stories of someone's relatives who had one. It's great!
@MnWGarage I have known this car since the day it was sold new
That’s thing survived the “cash for clunkers” holocaust back in 2009
@Crazytwister-vw4er HA! That never even crossed my mind! She's a survivor, for sure! We lost a lot of great cars back in those days.
@@TorquePowerVideo I will never trust Obamna again
I owed 3. One sedan on wagon and a 91 with the police 351. All great cars
Please when you get this car tires get white wall PLEASE
That's the plan!
They are great cars. With a little TLC they will last long lives. And the both drive and ride wonderfully. Good luck with your car.
@carminecrapanzano1407 new white walls are going on the car today. Look for a new episode on it soon!
Can't wait to see her in all her glory! Best of luck with her.

This one has some rot under the vinyl roof. It's unfortunate since it's otherwise a pretty solid car.

Any update? I just bought one a 90 LTD same color, all original out of Georgia... 27k miles on her
