Zdradsvootya, Method. Forgive my English attempt at Russian but had to say hello. Gotta say I LOOOVED this restoration also the skit at the beginning. I laughed me head off. I have watched it before but on a different phone therefore had to relike and comment AND, not forgetting to, subscribe. Looking forward to going through the catalogue again and getting more enjoyment. Dazvidanya.
After cleaning the grease off you should have put it in a tub of water and used electrolysis on the rust. When you went to unscrew the jaw screws you should have used penetrating oil. In the US Mouse Milk is the best. Not sure what Russia has but bet they have a good penetrating oil. Now I see you are sandblasting it. This works great but the electrolysis would have removed the hidden rust in the screw. bolt and nut areas! This might have allowed you to remove the jaw screws easier!! I do really like the way you de-burred the parts and used a file and lathe to make the pieces look very nice and fit better. I have been commenting and now am at minute 15:35 and see you have a complete metal machine shop! Didn't know you had all that great tooling!! Great job! I bet you could make a vise better than that old one you just restored. I do notice near the end you made this vise a smooth jaw vise! Why didn't you cut groves into the jaw faces?

Really nice professional restoration, well done, but please cut some grip into the jaws on your vice to give it some grip. Crisscross it with an old saw blade. if those jaws don,t grip one day could be really nasty.
Pretty amazing. Had to watch the whole thing...out of respect for this guy's know how and patience. And shops like this are where new ideas are born. In some ways a real work of art !

@@danwhiting4399 exactly! It does absolutely nothing! It doesnt change the functionality of any tool or machine! It doesnt make it better or worse lol its only for cosmetics.
I don't understand smoothing cast iron. Whether you use filler or abrasives. I would leave it looking like cast iron. That's me. It's his vice to do as he wants.
