Ulta always has some great sales. My daughter likes the ABH single shadows too. I should try more wet and wild blushes I would use it as a shimmer instead of a blush. My daughter likes it in her eye with s matte for a simple look. Stay fabulous and enjoy your weekend. Hugs 🤗
Ranalynn Naipo yeah they do!! W&W is coming out with some new blushes-they look great; I may have to pick up the whole summer collection! I’ve tried using that shimmer palette-I still don’t understand what it’s for, but seems to work nicely as a blush topper!
What is WRONG with me? You got some amazing stuff and ULTA has better rewards and all the brands I’m curious to try...yet I’m still at Sephora when I can spend on makeup :/ it’s like my happy place I guess? The Ulta store here is really nice, very friendly people yet I only go there when I got to buy my son his pomade he HAS to have lol
muumol I totally get it. I try to buy everything I can at Ulta for the rewards, more frequent 20% off coupons, etc., but I actually enjoy shopping at Sephora a lot more. Although the staff at my Ulta is nice, they make a lot of mistakes, there are system glitches, and I feel like they just don’t know what they’re doing a lot of the time. They don’t understand their own points system. They also don’t seem as knowledgeable about beauty/skincare and certainly don’t seem to be as interested in makeup as Sephora employees. In Sephora, I can talk to employees about a new line or something and a) they know what I’m talking about and b) they’re just as excited about it as I am. The Sephora shopping experience is just on a whole different level from Ulta.
Well see, your view makes sense! But even online I prefer the Sephora app. It’s kind of diminishing now, that I have read this article about the lawsuit involving them and OCC Cosmetics. I like OCC, but it appears they have gone out of business and it’s seemingly directly linked to their problems with selling at Sephora. I try to be conscious of what and where I buy, and that for sure put a damper on it. But I’ve already have been diminished about the “obsessive” or “must buy” makeup stuff as I wasted so much money on items I thought I HAD to have, but never used and it went bad. Now, I’m buying things I know I’ll ise or really really want and if it works out I’ll use, and if not, I’ll return it. There is a stigma for returning things and it feels like I’m being awful! But I did it and do not feel a bit guilty. When I think about it, a lot of high end , low end, mid range products are not really different. There’s only so many basic ingredients that make products and they are all the same. I enjoy skin care on high end because they do use less cheap fillers, but some “basic” stuff is the same for cheaper versions, like one or two ingredient products. Like aloe gel, body oils, even lotions. I find I prefer it just buy pure shea butter and jojoba oil and grab small containers and use perfume oils to scent them myself and my skin is for sure happier with that. Idk why I’m writing this long ass reply, guess I have stuff to say and you seem to “get it”. Thanks for your reply!
That's really sad about OCC. I don't really follow a lot of the 'beauty news' stuff like that, but I should. I also like online ordering from Sephora better. The app is more aesthetically pleasing, but mainly I like the super fast shipping with no minimum purchase. So I get it, for sure. I will return stuff I don't like it, makes me break out, doesn't last, etc. However, I'll only return it if it's a purchase I thought through and expected to like. Even then, I still feel bad about returning. No one's ever given me a hard time about it, especially at Sephora, but I still hate returning stuff if I've used it. However, I will occasionally buy something really impulsively that I know before even using it that I shouldn't have bought. I end up using it once, and of course immediately regret purchasing it because I know I won't use it--but those items I won't return. For example, I bought the Soft Glam palette impulsively when ABH was 10x points at Ulta even though I had like 5 of the EXACT same ABH shades already in my collection. It's a nice palette, but I knew I had those shades. I bought it almost two months ago and have barely used it--just as I had expected would happen. I regret buying it but I won't return it because there was nothing wrong with it. I bought that palette KNOWING I probably wouldn't use it much because I didn't need it. That said, I'm trying to think through purchase more and buy things less impulsively. Yeah, that's a good point about the products with the same ingredients being sold at very different price points. I'm too lazy to compare ingredient decks, but I like my fancy pants makeup (ie UD, Too Faced, ABH, etc.), but I do have to say--I don't see how the formula of my $129 ND palette is better than my $3 Wet n Wild palette. Of course, I love my ridiculously overpriced ND palette, but it was a 'reward' for finishing my comps so it has an emotional meaning attached. Regardless, no palette is worth that. But I love it anyway. Look at me rambling on, lol. Thanks for chatting with me!
Lauren Jo oh exactly how I feel and what I do! The wet n wild is amazing for some products, but a lot of their colourful eyeshadow makes my eyes water (also Kat von D) but Marc Jacobs does not. Their halo liquid highlighter is awesome, but smells and blends differently than the Milk halographic but I actually use both and love them, for different reasons. Skincare and sunblock is a big difference, and I think it’s the amount of fillers used, or /and amount of product and mainly the packaging. I think I have a emotional thing with Sephora. I have always loved makeup, my mom gave me a Lancome wet/dry powder compact when I was 9 so that’s the brand I always used. Then Clinique and mostly Lancome and a few wet n wild items through the years. But about 10 years ago I discovered Sephora online and a whole new world of brands opened up and had a lot of info on products and could browse and read at my leisure without the pressure of associates hovering. It also just feels magical lol
Aw that's too bad about the Wet n Wild. The only shadows I've tried from them are the browns and purples though, so I don't know how the more colorful ones would work...but they don't have great reviews so that doesn't surprise me. Yeah MJ shadows are gorgeous and completely non-irritating. There is definitely something magical about shopping at Sephora that just isn't there with Ulta...in general. But it is pretty magical when you get $125 of free prestige makeup from Ulta after only having to spend about $300 (if you're mostly strategically shopping with point multipliers). At Sephora, you spend $300 and get 3 dinky samples. I really wish Sephora's rewards were better. Even just offering a $50 giftcard for every 1000 points (not in limited quantities) would be better than what they're currently doing (though still far inferior to what Ulta offers). I'm thinking of doing an Ulta vs Sephora video to talk about all this...
Your summer project sounds like a fun idea!! 👍🏻 I’m excited to see the outcome ☺️
