- Politics and Music...Senate Majority Leader (and Brooklyn resident) Chuck Schumer gives a NYC Pep Talk and introduces Journey (it's a GREAT band, kiddies)! Yes, the YOUNG front man is not an Original...LOL, but he actually Sounds close...
So Sad the concert was Rained Out (And IN THE MIDDLE OF BARRY MANILOW, who is 78 yo!) and had to be cancelled about half way thru...and the best was just to come...🙁
Also I would like to say that the camera crews really need a "bit" of training when SOLOS are being performed...such as when Santana played, etc..
I saw the "Journey "band started their career, making hits, on their early days Journey band was a very great band with of course their gem Steve Perry with a tenor voice. I can say Steve is untouchable from the beginning up to their prime days. If you see the concerts of the Journey Steve's voice is a monster especially in a ballad songs of the band. Well, Steve is Steve! He is the original and the pure sound of Journey nothing can touch that. But can we just be thankful that the band found Arnel not to replace Steve but to continue the legacy of the band.

Arnel Pineda still the great singer inspite of his ages he is still the great,. fabulous.. proud Filipino here😘
You would get more amazed had they discovered Arnel in his prime. So lucky were Filipinos who had seen him perform during that time. He was not so good looking, thus, the music industry in Philippines did not give him so much attention as they preferred good looks than talent.

Why ..you do have the originality, dynamics...powerful and clear voice...and most of all ...Heart...Soul and passion on every performance...Journey was lucky to have you as their lead vocalist since SP can't sing high tunes anymore of his aged...keep it up man...

@@johnsantos1348 Hmm. I'm a schooled musician and do music for a living for myself as well as others. That said, I was looking for your videos. I was thinking maybe you can give some insight on pitch, that my life of music has never given me. Also I was looking for a video that shows which note in Arnel's track are flat and or sharp and by how much if you're in 440. Maybe you would use a plug in like AutoTune to measure each of his note's intonation.
But I see that you don't have any published. So you have no right to falsify claims for myself or other pros like Arnel or Neil Schon or J. Cain (one my early keyboard heroes), for continuing to keep him hired as the rep for their music. Once you have some videos posted, then you'll have some cred, until then, your opinion has no merit and quite inane.
BTW I just listened to both songs very intently concentration on Arnel's pitch and even going to my piano to check on a couple of notes. I counted maybe two or three notes that we're a couple of cents off on pitch. They were all on "Anyway", one long note and a couple of eighth notes in runs, but otherwise, all the others were on pitch! This is what makes a human performance sound human. Once, I had to analyze and edit an edit an a capella stem of Perry's vox, and there were quite a few imperfections that I had to fix. I was very surprised to find this in one of the greatest vocalists of all time. But ALL live vocalists have some imperfections. This what makes them sound like them! If you take too many out, then they will sound like robots and their performances ruined! But of course, you know all theses things, right?😁
The Real Music Observer is a mega douche who has a grudge against any band that continues to exist with a replacement singer - Styx, Yes, Journey, Chicago, etc. With the rare exception of Rush, It's just not possible for bands to last 30, 40 or 50 years without some changes in personnel.
@@legasimusic schooled musician you are not . Far from any music knowledge I might add . I own 14 guitars , two basses , a Grand Piano , two Synthesizers and a ton of gear . What do you play , a tambourine ? That must be the extent of your music knowledge because as I hinted even a non music lover could hear he's clearly all over the place and off key . Time to get a new singer if Schon wishes to keep playing music as Journey .
@@legasimusic I don't need to prove anything to you as anyone with ears can hear he's awfully off key . But it is difficut to convince someone without a sense of pitch . You keep dreaming he's on and keep buying his records and going to his shows - they clearly need the support as their audience dwindle in attendance . They're gonna need every bit of help you can give .

I was in the audience and it sounded way better than this poorly mixed broadcast. I feel like they are pulling audio from microphones placed in the audience rather than from the soundboard.

He still can rock but I noticed these last performances he made that whenever he sings Dont Stop Believin', he's struggling at the end. Too high for him? ageing? nope. It's most probably his previous voice ailment (that's before his Journey gig) that he went to recuperate for 6 mos.
Arnel has a natural high range, heard him in Manila and continous belting out will really destroys his voice nevertheless the little guy could still make it

@@samccfl his name is Arnel and he’s 53 and has been with the band since 2007. Neal Schon is the only original member in the band at the moment.

You sing these songs every night you have to be easy and find new ways to hit the notes or you will blow your voice out in a few days.. and he's 53-54 ... For as much as journey toured over the years I'm shocked he's still that great... He may need lessons on how to conserve and breathe hit lower harmonies when you can it all matters to save on the pipes

I'm convinced that he was either sick or had some vocal issues because he sounded great on new years eve and sang Don't Stop Believing in the original key, unlike here where it's down a half step.
