    If you use straight eggs you are making mini-omelettes. If you want to replicate the Starbucks egg bites you need to add cottage cheese or other cheese, (Gruyere anyone?) and blend for smoothness. I purchased my maker to replicate the SB product in addition to custard and cheesecake bites.

      Thank you! I came to the comments to find how SB makes theirs.

      @laura jeanne, do you blend up everything before you pour? Even bacon? About how much cottage cheese would you use for 4 bites?

      I followed the cheesy bites with gryure cheese and cottage cheese and used blender. ThenI used whisk, same result. It calls for four eggs which is alot of bites.

    Use butter to lube the cups. Adds flavor. I love putting these on biscuits, or cooking a little soft and putting on English muffins for eggs benedict. I also cook egg bites for the week while meal prepping. My egg bite recipe is just egg, quessa fresco, and bacon crumbles.

    Huh. I don’t have the same problem getting the bites out. But I use a mixture of eggs, cottage cheese, and cheese rather than just use eggs. (First recipie in the included book.) So that might impact how “sticky” they are. I do coat the cups with butter using a tiny silicone brush, which I think coats the silicone surface better than oil brushed on. Brushed on oil beads and runs on a silicone surface like water off a Duck’s back in my experience.
    I’ll try it with just egg tomorrow morning to see if that’s the reason.
    I’ve had weight loss surgery so my stomach is very small and the egg bite maker is great for meal prepping in portion sizes that are very convenient for me.

    My egg bites pop right out. I think you should have added a bit more time. Like many things, when they are ready they release from the pan. I did use a tad of cooking spray and added a little heavy whipping cream to my egg mixture. Don’t give up. Try again. UPDATE: Just did 32 egg bites and every single one of them easily slid out of the cup. I put 3-4 drops of grapeseed oil in the cups before each batch.

  • @mikeb5286
    @mikeb5286 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    They release better after you cook with them once. Stir your seasonings in your egg mixture so you can get seasoning in every bite not just on top. If you add cheese, onions, peppers or mushrooms you can get 8 for 2 eggs. I think it suggests in the instructions to turn upside down and the eggs will release as they cool.

    I would actually use 4 tablespoons of water for the bottom. Thank you for mentioning the water because I bought mine used, without the instructions, unfortunately.

    Haven’t gotten one of these makers yet. when I make scrambled eggs in a cup in the microwave I mix in a tablespoon or so of oil so doesn’t stick. Sometimes about as much butter if feeling like it. It’s doesn’t stick to the cup and works good. But then that’s ceramic and not silicone. Tempted to get to try. Ny sister has a similar bites makes for her Instapot so can make a bunch at once to have ready in fridge for kids.

    It worked… add a little more water then instructed to get a good steam and cook longer than ten minutes about 12 so it cooks thorough then they will pop right out right after onto the plate. I don’t wait to cool.

    I saw where you made a grilled cheese sandwich on the egg maker, I've also seen where you cooked a chicken thigh on the grill could you cook that on the egg backer, kind of making them interchangeable?

    My egg bite maker just came today and I haven't tried it yet but watching your video makes me think that I don't even want to. Having clean that egg out of those little cups when you live in a van is not a good thing! I could probably just use it for scrambled eggs or little grilled sandwiches I think I'll try that first. 💜

    I have a problem with the egg bites deflating to a pancake. They rise very high and when I open it they are lovely but then collapse. I used the cheesy egg bite recipe. No problem with sticking but not the creamy custard. They are tasty but not what is shown. I really want this to work it is so great for breakfast and other items!

      I've never had any success with the egg bite cups. I just make a big square omelette or frittata and then cut it into four smaller pieces. :)

    My eggs didnt stick but they did deflate. By ny third time using it mine didnt deflate as much. I think the time/ingredient/wisking is really important. Over wisked eggs deflate. Overinflated eggs deflate. I didn't do anything and mine didn't stick. I did wait until the water evaporated but that's when they deflated. When I took them out befire the water evaporated they didnt deflate...idk im going to keep trying as I love eggbites and they're too expensive.

    I would definitely recommend using cooking spray in the egg cups first. Then they will pop out like they are supposed to. Also, if you want to use it as just a griddle, I would still use a little cooking spray.
    Definitely don’t recommend paprika. Made mine taste funny. 😆 Definitely scramble the eggs first. I would also give them more time to cook than 10 minutes. Perhaps 15 to 20. ❤

      Eggs ehh(not a fan of texture) but its been great for healthier grilled sandwiches. I steamed a homemade burger in it today(big dish), then flipped into water left and broke it up. 2 min later and tossed all in dog dish with dry food. Haha yes he's spoiled. Did boneless chicken thigh yesterday(poached I guess with broth??), worked great.
      Have you tried tiny cheesecake yet?

    I like the idea of using the egg bite maker without the cups, to cook some of the things you've done in previous videos. I like that it's bigger than the mini griddle. Thank you for doing this test. I only have the mini griddle and mini waffle maker. I don't know if I'd buy the egg bite maker or the 8 inch griddle, but I was thinking of buying one of them. Which one of those do you like better?

    • @CounterCooking
      @CounterCooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I like them both. The Egg Bite Maker is smaller and uses less electricity so it’s better for traveling and being off the grid. The 8 inch griddle is bigger so it’s more versatile. If I was only going to use one of them in a house or at home, I’d probably go with the 8” griddle. It cooks more food at once. I’ve only had the Egg Bite Maker a very short amount of time though, so I’m still getting to know it.
