I've never played any of the games in this D&D franchise. I really want to. The idea of an expansion that can be played with any of the core titles is quite clever. Thanks for sharing!
Wife and I would VERY much love to see you do a playthrough of Ghosts of Saltmarsh.... but one of the dungeon crawl scenarios (as EVERYone has showcased the town ones.. which gets a little boring once you`ve seen too many of these), but there are very few playthroughs of the Saltmarsh crawl tile adventures shown on you tube :-)
Thank you, very informative videos and just what I needed to decide on this box. Probably not going to play the adventures in this one much, but seeing how it's almost half price at my FLGS I'm picking it up to pillage its components to use with the other games.
Hi Annabel, it is a good expansion set, i bought the deluxe copy with all the minitures already painted, saved me some time and paints 🎨 Would look forward to seeing you play through with this added to Castle Ravenloft or Wrath of Ashardalon. Great vid as always, 🙂👍
Play with a mixture of all the games and have a theme for the adventuring party. For example you could have a party just made up of dwarves as there are four different ones in the games you own.
I'd definitely like to see this one in action! I've been meaning to buy it but it's not easily available where I live... maybe try it with Wrath of Ashardalon? Don't the Orc Smashers appear in that box too?
I do not own ToA (yet!) and to n=be honest, I have never played Terraforming Mars, I know it's very popular but I tend to stay away from space themed games
Another great unboxing. I own the other d&d board games and like them, but wondering if this one is worth getting. The content looks pretty sparse for the price. I would like to see you play it so I can make up my mind. Thanks.
@@MeepleVillage So I ended up buying a few board games of this series - Castle Ravenloft, Legend of DrizzT, Wrath of Ashardalon and Ghosts of Saltmarsh expansion. Although they are standard size cards, Ghosts of Saltmarsh cards are slightly different to the others :( very annoying if want close fit sleeves. Ghosts Saltmarsh cards are 63.5x89mm, the others are 63x88mm. I purchased Dragon Shield perfect fit sleeves and these Saltmarsh cards are a touch too tight and cause bending, the rest are well perfect. Why oh why would they change the card size, stupid rookie move by Wizkids.
I got Castle Ravenloft not long after it came out, but was disappointed as it wasn't what I expected. I took it off the shelf to play solo during the pandemic and am thinking of getting another game in the series. The fourth through sixth have campaign rules which could be interesting as I switched to Descent for the campaign. Elemental Evil has a village, but the characters are the same as C.R.; Tomb of Annihilation has a jungle-theme, with 3 new character classes (Bard, Druid and Paladin) but doesn't seem to fit with C.R. So I'm curious how this one plays with Castle Ravenloft. I suspect they changed "immobilized" to "stunned" since the former sounds like you lose a turn instead of being able to fight but not move.
Did the solo experience change your mind about the game? I mostly play it solo as it might be a long game and finding players that want to commit to that is difficult (their loss).
@@MeepleVillage I accept it for what it is, not what I wanted it to be. For instance getting a +1 weapon on a 20-sided die was a disappointment because it might not pay off once in the adventure, where it could multiple times on a d10 (or if it was a +2). Apparently D&D went from multiple dice to a d20 so that's why it's here. In one or more reviews they say Castle Ravenloft is too hard. But I won most of the adventures with two characters, usually one being the Dwarf Cleric. I couldn't beat the last adventure the first 10x until I used 3 heroes.
So this is just an expansion for 85 bucks with hardly any villians. It has its own adventures or are you suppised to add those adventures to the game you are already playing

Ok, will keep that in mind for sure!

I didn't know there was a deluxe version, will have to paint it all myself. Looking forward to mixing and matching!
I’m always up for watching more play through videos. Those tiles look pretty cool too! Keep up the great work!
Glad you like them! Runthrough coming soon!

Yes, I think it would be interesting to mix and match
Yes play it with Ashardalon, thats my vote
I would love to mix and match!
Would definitely like to see a play through. Preferably with Drizzit. But honestly, any would de fine.
You got it!
aw yeah, let's get this one to the table.
Looking forward to it!
Thanks for doing this one. Have you done Tombs of Annihilation and have you ever done terraforming mars?
I do not own ToA (yet!) and to n=be honest, I have never played Terraforming Mars, I know it's very popular but I tend to stay away from space themed games

Yes, absolutely I had the same thoughts, not much in the box, eager to see if it was worth it
Looking at getting into this series of board games.
A question I have is: Are the playing cards a standard size of 63mm x 88mm ?
Yes, they are standard cards

these games are underrated af
They are great, will soon mix them up in a runthrough. Stay tuned!

PS: the website says if you don't have a game with gold pieces then you need to find some kind of way of recording gold.

Ravenloft and ashardalan are way more difficult than the rest.
Since this one is an expansion- how would you say it compares to the other sets? Is it actually worth it?
As a fan of D&D, I would say it's worth it!
It's a shame they did this as an expansion. Would have been nice to get a fresh set of heroes in the box.
New heroes are always welcomed!
They've done 6, so maybe this is a cheaper box at $50?

It is meant to compliment the other core games
@@MeepleVillage like u, i am painting my ashardalon characters with my kids
I think it's $50, with the $90 version having painted miniatures.
