For those who are over a certain age or have sun damaged skin or dark circles black is not so flattering even if we re olive. I believe that age also should be taken into consideration. I feel that mid brown with caramel lights suit me better than dark colours.
Of course age is to be taken into consideration too, but it's not true that light hair colours always suit better after certain age than dark - it's very individual! Some will suit lighter, some darker, and you can only know this by trying :)

Anyways after I got out of that phase when I was around 15 I still kept it a neutral black because it looked good on me. I remember people used to ask me if that was my natural hair color even. I always wondered why I could pull off black so well when I was so pale. Makes sense now that I know I have olive skin.

In the past years I opted for really warm and then cool toned hair colours, both washed me out. Golden blonde to subtle ginger then ashy medium blonde. None of them suited me. I feel like black hair would wash me out too I just can't explain why. Although it looks absolutely gorgeous on you! Brown tones were usually safe options but I really like being medium blonde. I'm going to order a neutral shade to try then I'll edit this comment to let you know! Edit: Hi!!! I dyed my hair with a neutral shade (8) as I was planning. However I wanted to be a little experimental about it and added a small amount of 8.1. (I used professional hair colours) I keep getting compliments about how much my new hair colour suits me! I think eye color affects this too. I’m pale olive probably more warm/neutral and I have hazel eyes so when I get golden blonde highlights it makes my eyes look gold which I love so I think eye color plays a role too.
Can't decide what looks better on you black or those subtle highlights. Love both. I'm South Slavic with fair cool olive skin and darkest ash brown hair/almost black. After changing so many different colours I realized I only look good with pearly or beige blonde( not warm not cool) and dark/black hair. Right now I'm having salt and pepper hair blended with blonde highlights so it creates illusion like light mushroom brown. I looove copper hair but didn't work for me. Can't stand brassy or yellow tones in my hair but also I look awful in something thats too cool.

I should say the ash in your hair is too grey light...i think medium ash would suit you more...with a green tint.. At the same time reduce that brassy tones...

My skin actually got darker… maybe I didn’t age that much yet.

The problem with dark hair is that gray hair is very noticeable so it requires a lot of upkeep.

I think reddish brown is beautiful, but I'm afraid of looking tan, because my skin is a cooler olive... I like to look paler.
