    When we shot this videos we had very little info on the quads, I apologize for any mistakes. More tests (low light, etc.,) coming in the following weeks. Thanks for the support, and to the disrespectful ones, thanks for the views and comments :)

    i got the zoom it's perfect for me, quality is deff good enough for someone like me cuz i'm only posting on insta/facebook and taking videos of friends.Optical zoom and dolly zoom feature are just extras. You have to be somewhat of an expert with photography to get most out of the pro. I don't even know half those terms lol maybe i'll learn as i go and for my next drone i will buy the one with better camera!

    I feel like the zoom is the better Mavic 2 drone for me. To be able to capture weddings or my kids soccer games from farther away and not distract people from the event would be great. I will say I'm disappointed in the "Dolly zoom" as EVERY example of it I've seen on TH-cam, it gets the foreground out of focus. Very blurry actually... I hope they do an update to fix this. For now, the Mavic Air will still be the drone for me. Better flight time, a quieter drone, and a better signal is definitely tempting.

    • @keningram2781
      @keningram2781 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Far away ? it is only a 2X optical Zoom .

    • @projectkilo8370
      @projectkilo8370 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ken Ingram 2x times optical zoom but you can go upto 4x hybrid zoom without quality loss. Also, 2X doesn't justify 24mm to 48mm.

    • @Kyzar11
      @Kyzar11 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Zoom on the way, but I've noticed the exact same thing regarding the dolly zoom. Focus appears super soft at the end of the effect. I don't notice it in the normal 48mm shots so I'm not sure if it is a software issue or what.

    • @gcomfx
      @gcomfx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "farther away" - not far away. Every little bit helps. My Mavic Air successfully stopped a Pre-K soccer game when one kid heard the drone and started pointing and yelling about it. If I had been able to get shots or video from a tad bit farther away he might not have heard it or seen it.

    • @keningram2781
      @keningram2781 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it is a 2X digital Zoom you are talking about , I have a old Kodak camera in my closet that I paid $250 for that came with a 12 X Optical Zoom now having a 12 X zoom would of been awesome on the Mavic 2 Zoom.

  • @aarondavid9946
    @aarondavid9946 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've ordered the Pro version.
    The dolly zoom can be done in post fairly easy and the 1" sensor will help. Further the aperture is really nice.
    Literally the only benefit I see for the zoom is the optical zoom, which allows not to fly so close to the object.

    I got my Zoom this morning. I found out that my Nexus 9 that I have used for my P4 will not except the updated Mavic 2 Go4 app. You may want to check the new specs for what phones or tablets are compatible with the new mavic 2 and zoom. The list has changed. Set up is quite lengthy. I started by charging batteries, and then found that they want you to connect the battery hub to the computer for update. Battery hub update? That's a first! Hopefully I'll be flying by sunset!

    Everyone is talking about the amazing "cinematic" look with the 48mm on the zoom but the crop mode of the pro (that should be round about 45mm) looks even similar with better quality. So I think the zoom is super amazing but when you don't need that "zoom move" you can have a "zoom" on the pro, too. :D Super amazing!

    • @fourtraxer
      @fourtraxer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A lot of people just don't have the time or care to post-process. They can fly, record, and be done.. something to be said about that. You can also post-process ZOOM video to look almost as good at the Pro if you know what you're doing. I think the decision is tough on which one to get and each has it's own benefits.

    • @shaneth138
      @shaneth138 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The pro looks more cinematic in every way. A bigger sensor will always look more cinematic. The 48mm isn't even that big of a difference to me.

    • @MrKuba105000
      @MrKuba105000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's what i'm also thinking about. I was very enthusiastic, when heard about Zoom version, because the new perspective with longer focal length was the thing I missed the most in consumer drones. However now when I hear that HQ mode in Pro gives almost the same (40mm), I have a lot of doubts which drone to choose. I'm waiting for a good comparison of Zoom's 48mm and Pro's HQ mode to see the real difference in FOV and quality. So far nobody did it, although it's the most valueable comparsion you can make about these two Mavics.

      This comparison does not show just what the 1" sensor is capable of, to show just how different it is wait until you see low light/night photography (slow shutter) images taken with it and you will see just how much better a 1' sensor is compared to the smaller sensor in the Zoom.

    • @DrDuu
      @DrDuu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Richard Bell Yes I agree. But in Germany for low light or night flights you need a permission for each flight. That is not part of my usage😉. But for sure at a cloudy day there would some benefits too.

    The Pro just looks vastly better to me. The bigger frame from the 1 inch sensor just looks so much more cinematic. Also, the the zoom only has 13 stops of dynamic range in d-log which it can't handle shooting in due to the 8 bit color. So really the pro is likely 3 stops better since it can shoot in 10 bit. Thats huge. The zoom lens isn't a very big deal to me at all. Especially when you are only getting quality that looks more like a mavic air. A bigger sensor will just always look more cinematic than basically a camera phone sensor.

    • @X99Zero
      @X99Zero 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, great comparison footage. It's immediately visible how much better the footage is from pro.

    • @mr02gixxer1000
      @mr02gixxer1000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its a little better, but say its vastly better is a stretch. the thing is where 1inch sensor shines is in low light conditions. but in well lit condition its very hard to tell the difference between the two. 90% of the people if ask them if there able tell the difference with either one like i just did in this office. And guest what no one was able to tell which of the Mavic was shooting the videos. like I said where the 1inch sensor shines is in low light conditions!!

    • @X99Zero
      @X99Zero 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me its immediately clear that the Pro is vastly better. Detail, colour, dynamic range looks superior to the zoom, you could get away by doing some commercial work with this now.

    • @CrackedTubeGamer
      @CrackedTubeGamer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed the zoom looks so sharp and watching everyone abuse this 2 second dollyzoom is making me sick. It's such a short zoom distance that when it's used the footage isn't stable and becomes jittery. #ProHasLessGimmicks

  • @michaelfrymus
    @michaelfrymus 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Im curious to know, with the zoom, zoomed in all the way, will it create and good blurred BG? And good parallax effect?
    It would be good to have the zoom to shoot wide scenery, but also zoomed in onto the subject with a blurry background, looks more cinematic. But how blury would it be? Worth it or better just stick with the pro
    Is it also wider than the pro?
    and the focal length mentioned, is that FF equivalent??

      I have to agree, owning a Ph4, if looking to acquire a wider range of colors or operating under low light scenario it might be more interesting to play with paralax and the dolly functions on the zoom... time to upgrade my travel companion!

  • @ANDJVisuals
    @ANDJVisuals 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    They both are great... the zoom is more for a creative content, the Pro for better professional pictures... Now, owning and mastering my original Mavic Pro I personally not need the upgrade because for social media like TH-cam, Instagram and etc there’s no difference in quality. Even in this video is really hard to see differences. I was expecting the 4K 60fps in any of these drones where that jumping frames from close ups won’t appear as in this video. That’s my opinion. Later if I have some extra money I’ll go for the Mavic Zoom.

    • @Jenniferobrien
      @Jenniferobrien 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes 4K 60fps would have been amazing! It is hard to see the difference and I say the same thing that I don't see the difference in upgrading from the Mavic Pro, a great drone, my favorite and I've flown the Spark, Air, Pro and now Pro 2!

    Hi, I have the Mavic pro and I love it. I don’t really know much about the internal components on the Mavic pro so please don’t give me a hard time for my questions. Lol 🤔
    I just purchased it about a month ago and I didn’t know that DJI was coming out with the new Mavic 2’s with the newer cameras and sensors.😩.
    So my question is can you upgrade the Mavic pro by switching out the camera with one of the newer Mavic 2 cameras and can you upgrade to the newer 360* sensors?
    Is the Mavic pro actually capable of operating the newer cameras and sensors or would the hardware (electronics) need to be replaced also. Does the newer Mavic 2’s have different hardware. I know it probably can’t be done but I was just wondering. If it can be done is it even cost effective of would it be better to just wait and purchase a newer drone??
    Thank you😏

    Recently I purchased Mavic 2 Zoom I did fly a few times I was very happy with it until Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at around 2:00 pm in Toronto- Humber Bay Park when I lost the Drone, it fell down while 80 m.high in the air. The Drone was up 80 meters high 70 meters away from me suddenly I saw the Drone falling down in two pieces. I was not sure what's happened but as I saw it falling down, it looked like the battery was detached from Drone.
    I looked for it in the area for hours but I couldn't find it because the area is full of trees, bushes, and water.
    It was a very scary and dangerous situation. Of course, I was very upset and disappointed that I lost about $2000 just like that, but at the same time, I was glad that nothing bad happened on the ground as it fell down.
    I read some recent reviews online and I saw similar issues that people had with Mavic 2 zoom.

    Great review. Question for you. I am a real estate photographer and am struggling with the choice between them. The 1” sensor is appealing but so is the option of the zoom. Wouldn’t the super high photo res mode negate the benefit of the 1” sensor for still photos of houses? Also which in your opinion would need less post production for the video?

    Hi WE TALK UAV complementing my question below, my main concern has to do with a comparison that I have not seen yet for landscapes photographers like me. A comparison image quality between super high res (48 megapixeles) in M2Z versus quality image of M2P (20 Megapixeles). I am a landscape photographer and use to take very few but special images. Have you already done this comparison?
    Regards from Chile

  • @cavalos55

    Hi We Talk UAV, I am a serious amateur photographer and only interested on images. Once both mavics were launched I thought that my option was "no brainer" with mavic 2 Pro but after seeing a lot of video comparisons and the fact that M2Z has the option of high resolution images now I am very confusing what would be the right option for me. I will appreciate your comments and thanks before hand.

      The 1 inch sensor has a 20 mpix resolution. 4k videos uses 8 mpix. It depends how you read the 8mpix out of 20 mpix.
      - If the 8mpix you choose as "scattered" all over the geometrical size of sensor, you obtain a large FOV. Is similar with downscaling a 20mpix photo in a 8mpix photo.
      - If the 8mpix is read grouped on the center of the sensor, is like cropping 8mpix out of 20mpix of an image. The resulting picture looks like it was zoomed.
      Neither way is not digital zoom. All the pixels of the image are obtained as a signal from real pixels.

    I got the mavic 2 pro and its coming Wednesday. I currently have the Mavic pro, phantom 4 pro and mavic air. I went with the Mavic 2 pro because I wanted a better camera, I hope I made the right decision. lol. I don't think I will be disappointed either way.

      Mavic PRO has te same sensor like Mavic AIR, right ? 1/2.3". But Air has better birate - 100 Mbps (mavic pro - 60 Mbps, Spark - 40). Mavic 2 zoom has also 100 Mbps and optical zoom and this is the only diffrence between video hardware between Mavic PRO and MAvic PRO 2 (zoom).

I mean fly with both drones side by side, with same framing, with same video settings, with same focal distance (I think so its 28mm) and put these footage into the split screen? It would be great and truly comparison.

    Love the video. Just out of curiosity, I see some users reporting issues with their m2 pro... have you experienced any "issues" with the gimbal loosing from the drone or the gimbal hitting the body while in flight? Mavicpilots.com has a thread where some owners are allegedly "experiencing?" the above.

    i think because of the more limited dynamic range the zoom places the highlights a bit too high. Maybe using minus ev and crushing the blacks just a bit could match the tonality and colors of the pro or come close.
