  • Today, I test ride a 2015 Suzuki DRZ-400SM. The DRZ is a factory supermoto that is known for dependability and reliability. The old-school machine is built to last and is one of the most popular supermotos. The tough machine is a blast to ride and is a true WHEELIE BIKE!!! Enjoy the video, and SUBSCRIBE TODAY!!!

    I have been debating for a while now between the DRZ400SM and the WR250X. This video actually made the decision for me. WR owner gets on a DRZ and the worst thing he can say about it is that its not fuel injected, that's pretty good. Also, the comments about stability and how it feels bigger helped me decide which bike was more fitting for what I'm looking for. I'll be getting a DRZ. Thanks!

  • @roydied15
    @roydied15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ive owned both now, my general consensus was that the DRZ actually feels better on the street and the WR feels better offroad, so if you buy the DRZ, get the SM and if you get the WR, get the 250R. The DRZ is heavier, but it just feels a lot more planted in the corners. My current DRZ has a 434 Overbore, Hot cams, and an FCR carb and it KILLS on the street.

    The DRZ is definitely great for being a hooligan. I have an 09 and am buying the 2017 soon. I've done all kinds of crazy stuff on my DRZ from trails to motocross and actual supermoto racing. And I can't even count how many times my neighbors and people around town have called the cops on me. lol

    Thank you for making this video it's very informative. I'm seriously considering buying one of these things. I'm 53 years old and getting off a cruiser... not kidding. I'm thinking of going back to my dirt bike roots but I like riding on the street. Be fair, for a guy who rides only on secondary roads and rarely exceed 60 mph and never does wheelies would I be satisfied on this bike? Thank you in advance!

      @magnificentbastard2311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rich Vogel how could you not be satisfied ? Lol I'm 47 and haven't grown up yet , ride diet and dual sports and am on the market for a new bike ... I may have found what I want in the DRZ

    Awesome! Hope I see you guys wheelie-ing around dtla.
    Thinking of getting a grom, but starting to think a drz might last me longer.
    Would it be worth it just to grom then bump up? or just go for the drz

    I thought my DRZ's 2nd gear is annoyingly short even with the 15/39 sprocket, but I guess I can't complain anymore if the WR250X has shorter 2nd.

    Thinking about getting a new drz,,, but u mentioned that 12k miles was a lot.... i currently have 60k miles on my 15' fz07... would a drz be a reliable or do they have less life than that before problems start coming up?

    • @derekgardin1512
      @derekgardin1512 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do oil changes often and maintain it and it's no problem. My neighbor has a 2015 and it's at 36,000km now no problem. He said have to check the valve lash every 20,000 or 24,000km and adjust if needed. Been a really solid bike, they've been making them forever and pretty much unchanged in the engine department, as the saying goes if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    How is this on dirt roads?

  • @E2Moto
    @E2Moto 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love everything about my DRZ400SM, but the only thing I hate a bit about it is it's a bit heavy combined with it being a little too tall for me. I can only stand toe by toe on it, but it's a good thing I wear dirt bike boots to take advantage if its stiffness to keep it standing. I really hope my suspensions will break in soon(been riding it daily for two weeks now) so the bike would lower to another 1 inch then it will eventually become a perfect bike for me.
    Yes, I've shaven the seat 1 inch lower before my first ride, and will not tamper with the suspensions.

    • @qj877
      @qj877 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      How tall are you? I'm 5'6 and I want to get a drz400sm this riding season. I figured id have to lean to one side when stopped.

    • @E2Moto
      @E2Moto 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DemocracyOfHypocrisy I'm 5'6", 30" inseam. You'll be fine riding one, but I highly recommend either buying a low seat or shaving it down 1 inch. It helps, and I rarely drop my bike now.

    • @qj877
      @qj877 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +E2Moto
      Yeah I plan too, I don't want to mess with the suspension either. I think I have a 31" inseam so I should be alright. The bikes hard to find used in my area though.

    • @E2Moto
      @E2Moto 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just buy it brand new if you can afford it and plan to settle with it. That bike could take a lot of beating, and still keep going.

    • @qj877
      @qj877 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +E2Moto
      I've found a couple 2014-2015s with low miles for under $5-6k which is where i want to stay on price. I think one of them was new. Still not in my area though. They're just hard to find around here.

    What are the maintenance intervals on the drz400sm?

    • @io3056
      @io3056 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Around a million miles, or something.
      but fr, suzuki says every 6000km(3 728.2 miles), some users say every 2000km(1 242.7 miles)
      It's safe to say they are durable.
