I am thinking of going into trucking however my impression is that if you lease onto a company you have no say in the loads you take on and the company will be maxing out your load to the limit and wear out your truck faster. If you have your own authority you can pick and choose the weight and routes you take on.
Hello. You mentioned key points on how to get an MC. I should have paid more close attention when I received my MC. Thank you for great content. I look forward to your future videos.
I’ve been a one truck carrier since 2017. The problem is finding a good carrier to be leased on to. It’s best to have experience before you go off totally on your own authority. Try being leased on with someone first. I tried hiring other drivers and it was a nightmare. I wouldn’t try and get your own authority now unless you’re really experienced. A lot of the major brokers won’t touch you unless you have 6 months active authority AND a dot inspection on file so you need to try and get direct customers first if you can.
Howzit Pinoy, great info thanks! My authority should be active tomorrow 1/12. Paid cash for my '22 579. My plan is to get out there and get enough experience that Landstar will take me. With any luck, I'll find something even better on my own. I know this is a challenging time in the industry, I've considered all that. Keep making vids bro!
Nice congrats. Seems like a solid truck too. Good luck out there. Gonna be tough but with perseverance and enough will it can be done. I see a lot of potential already specially as a power only. Lots of opportunities out there. Not the pandemic $$$ but it’s good enough.
If you talking pre pandemic were there. The only reason you not seeing as much in your net because everything cost so much nowadays. Other than that rates is same pre pandemic.
I’m gonna be honest with you. It’s a lot tougher than it was but can still be done. A lot scams have risen lately that most brokers will only deal with aged authorities. There are still brokers out there that will deal with new authorities. My moto is; they’ll just tell you yes or no.
If we’re talking about 2010-2016 ish trucks and Paccar engines I would agree. The newer Cummins, Volvo, and Detroit have gotten so efficient with the def that it’s almost better to have emissions vs non emissions. I say that because these engines are so fuel efficient and much more manageable when it comes to parts/services and everything else. Not only that they’re dime a dozen so they’re usually cheap when you get them used.
I use to drive for TruckLand. It’s made up of owner operators both dispatchers and drivers. I use to drive for David and he just told me today he’s looking a driver for his KW T600 Cummins 10 speed manual. Must have 2yrs exp and be able to enter Canada. Pay is .60/mile in the lower 48 and .65 in Canada. You can get more details from him. Email him davidd@truckland-inc.com
guys..I've been in this business for 20 years..don't get involved in this business!!!!!..there's no money here! Freight rates are strictly controlled by the government. He won't let you make money in this business....
I would be lying to you if I gave you a company. I have no clue really hehehe 😂. Maybe look it up on YT maybe someone has already made a video about it?
