Generic name: Salicylic Acid.
Brand names: Acnevir.
Available as an ointment, cream and gel.
How to use it?
Ointment: Apply a thin layer and cover it with bandages, foil or tape.
Cream or gel: put the part of skin you want to treat 5 minutes into warm water. Dry your skin and than rub in the gel or cream. Afterwards cover it with foil or bandages.
After applying salicylic acid you should always wash your hands and make sure this medicine does not come into contact with your eyes, nose, mouth or any wounds you might have.
Duration of treatment?
The duration of the treatment depends on the indication for use. Usually it is a few weeks.
When to use it?
Ointment and cream are used for skin-related problems like: severe itching and other skin related problems.
What is the correct dosage?
Always use the dosage and frequency prescribed by your own doctor.
What are the side-effects?
Common (1-10%): Itching
Uncommon (0,1 - 1%): hypersensitive reaction, headache, dizziness, confusion and nausea.
Safety:
It is safe to use with alcohol (in moderation), eat any type of food and drive your car while using this drug. However, salicylic acid can have interactions with other drugs. Therefore always ask your prescribing physician if Salicylic Acid is safe for you.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Salicylic can be dangerous when pregnant or breast feeding. So if you are pregnant or breastfeeding discuss this very clearly with your prescribing doctor.

It's hard to find Acnevir anymore,. The company said they discontinued the product.
I have a small side corn on my toe ...can I use a 17 % salicylic acid ( generic wart remover liguid ) for corn removal.... I plan to carefully apply it directly to the corn and cover with a bandage afterwards, daily .... any other recommendations I should follow?.... thank you

I bought the ice cream mask in the blue tube ghkzykuy mask it has completely rid my forehead of wrinkles. It's getting bad reviews but I wash my face and put it on and since using it I look 10yrs younger. That's just the effect on me . No burning blemishes or redness. My skins never looked better.

I had my 2% of salicylic acid in clear essense mosturiser made from a pharmacy because they had raw material and I was told to use it twice a day but it's drying my skin out so what should I do?
Idk If salicylic is helping me or just messing up my skin but whenever I use a leave on mask salicylic acid even cleanser it makes my face have a deep acne and its inflamed after waking up its fast and it hurts 😩does this mean that its working or do I need to avoid using it since I just want my small clogged pores to dissappear but it just gives me handful of over inflamed but small actual pimples, 😭
Noo, stop using it. Use only face wash with 0, 5 % salicydic acid only and rinse it off with water. You probably have sensitive skin and can use it only like face wash but it helps for clogged pores and blackheads. If that doesn’t work then you only have option with bioderma sebium facewash which it even milder but still clears clogged pores.
@@sanjaa.2396 i was using cleanser soap wit bha on it I know it has salicylic acid on it but they dont really tell how much it has in it but whenever i use products that has that whenever i wake up i will have this big inflamed deep acne more than 3 i think. idk if it was purging or just irratation but is there like a great alternativefor that cuz i really wanna avoid having deep acne cuz it hurts and it last tru weeks xD

Would it work on calluses? Like whole hand and foot.....i got both a 20% gel solution and a 99.5% powder (probably should have researched before buying lol)
How did it go? I developed plantar hyperkeratosis. Very stubborn w rapid, tough skin growth. heels and outer aspect of soles. I don't know anyone else with this, most literature out there is for acne or the face. so if you don't mind, can you tell me what worked for you? ai fear getting older if I don't get this under some more prevention control. My dermatologist is not much help. Have you tried UV light or anything else? OK if you don't feel like communicating, but what works for you might work for me.
(I use callus remover razor everyday to every few days, and Triamcinolone cream. Also using urea 40 % w 2 % salicylic acid. BUT. also treatment with 10 % salicylic acid ointment plaster left on overnight. Now just trying stronger acid. Up tp 20 % plaster, Noticing some improvement, and going to try a home compound w adding coal tar. The recipe is online from a dermatologist. ) Thanks and best wishes!

Skin tags are better left alone if it's not bothering your aesthetics.
How long you leave it on the skin? 10 minutes? Or rinse it off right away? This is the most important question but no one tells.

@@tigersjk2558 hi, maximum use for salicylic acid is twice per day, lesser is better. Some salicylic acid should be washed 10min after using, and some can leave overnight like The Ordinary. Depends on what brand you're using :) sorry for my english
The masque I bought to remove blackheads said leave on for no more than 10 min
the 17% concentration that is used for removing warts says to apply two thin layers, allowing each to dry first, then not applying again for at least 12 hours. This is as per the directions on the bottle. But this is for destroying warts, this is NOT what you would want to use for other purposes.

How does salicylic acid treat dry skin? It literally gave me dry skin it takes out the oil out of your skin and has really bad side effects if too much is used
salicylic acid - 2 x a week.
You need to wear moisturiser after and if you're going out, you need to wear sunscreen. Salicylic acid is sensitive to sun.
it's not really the most effective product for dry skin , it's more for the oily side

Yes if you use it consistently. Now since you are using SA in your cleanser ,you'll be able to use another treatment like Retinoid or retinol , azelaic acid, alpha arbutin, B3 etc. It just makes the layering process easier

So my family doctor put me on the gel at 6% with my tretinoin, I have been in my tretinoin for two months now. I only use my tretinoin one day a week, I tried the salicylic acid 6% on my face for the first time (not on the same night as the Tretinoin) and I got half of my face done and was starting to put it on the other side. It started to burn.... I have sensitive skin. I followed the directions. I kept my face nice and wet for five minutes then put it on. My face was wet when I started to apply, as I was rubbing it in it was slimy. It started to "slug" up, it's hard to describe but it started to get stringy. My skin was burning for a while after I removed it, I though my face would be super red after words. I'm Native American, Irish and German so I get red super fast, I was a little red that's it. I feel like I should try it one more time because my skin is already dry then you put the Tretinoin on top of that . Ohhhh baby!! It's crust town! So is there any advice on what I can do the next time? Maybe a barrier of sorts? Anything would be great! I'm very grateful thank you so much.

I'm a 16 year old who lifts and I'm a according to my doctor a little "under" 5'8 and I don't really see my dad because of divorce but I'm sure he's between 5'6-5'5 and my mother us between 5'5-5'4 and my eldest brother is 5'6 so I actually fear that I'm going to be short in adult hood by remaining 5'7. I do in fact lift weights and according to this site by subtracting a couple of cm from my parents hights plus my hieght will be my future height which is apparently 5'8 a little below average.
