This is by far my favorite area to hike, I've hiked this hike and or parts of it many times. I never get tired of it, but gee's that's a big pack for that hike.
Have you hiked the Freycinet Peninsula circuit in Tasmania? It reminded me very much of this hike. It was beautiful! haha yeah it was the only pack i owned at this point in time. My gear has changed a fair bit since this trip!
Awesome Hike. I have did this walk many years ago and we are trying to plan to do it in 2021. With a two night stay at the light house. A great adventure Ladies. Well done. Hit your bell. Aussie supporting Aussies. Yeah!
Thank you so much! haha yeah this was my first time visiting the Prom. We want to go again and have a little stroll past the lighthouse since we didn’t venture down that way last time. I will check out your channel! :D
haha yeah I kept reading about it and thinking ‘nah we won’t get stuck at high tide what are the odds’ It didn’t feel like we waited very long though so it turned out good! :P
Hello, chanced upon your videos when looking for a guide of what to pack for a multi-day hike and was happy to see you've been to Wilsons Prom which is where my husband and I will be going this March 2023. I was wondering as it seems like maybe you're based in Victoria what amount of warm clothes you would recommend for a 2 night hike to Wilsons Prom in early March? The weather forecast says 15 degrees - 26 degrees but from what I understand the weather can fluctuate quite a lot. Appreciate any advice from yourself or others who have experience :) Thank you!!
Thats great you'll get to go to Wilsons Prom, its very beautiful. We did this hike fairly close to winter hence I was wearing leggings instead of my normal shorts haha. Just keeping in mind to bring some different layers so you'll be prepared for what ever the weather throws at you. For me that normally looks like hiking in a tshirt, with a lightweight fleece close by thats easy to throw on if I get cold. (i'll also have easy access to a beanie, gloves and rain jacket if it's even colder) I will also have a warmer jacket like a puffer or thicker fleece thats usually in the bottom of my bag mostly for camp (but if for some reason I was still cold I can also fetch it out) and when we reach camp i will put on a thermal top and bottoms with my warmer jacket and tracksuit pants. :)
This two lovely girls makes this hike looks like so easy with big backpack 🤣 When I was do this hike I was almost dying 😜🤣😂 Ok I'm not that young and fitt than they are But I'm absolutely want to go back again Thank you for this awesome video🥰
Hahah thank you for watching! I remember the hike being a bit harder then I had anticipated but I don't recall myself dying at the time. 😂 its been a few years now, might be a different story!
I loved your video and the way how you explain to us step by step, short but meaningful . so im still have some doubts about the camping side that you took. do i need to book it or just look the perferct spot for my tend over there? in Little Waterloo and Sealers Cove. What about the carpark? Any issues leaving the car three days there? Thank you so much.
Love your video! I'm about to head off on the hike myself. How did you find hanging your food at the camping spots? Were there adequately high trees closeby?
Thank you! :) Yeah lots of trees around at both Sealers cove and Little Waterloo Bay. (Sealers cove has taller trees from memory) Although I have never hung my food before. I normally have it all in a big zip lock bag, then it goes into a food bag dry sack, then into my pack liner, then into my pack. I have never had a problem with sneaky animals but I also do not want to jynx myself :P Have an awesome trip!!
This was just after I finished my last backpacking trip (Superstition Wilderness in the Arizona desert) before the pandemic hit. My next backpacking trip didn't happen until December of 2020. Looks like you had a great trip.
@@settohike Hiking in the AZ desert is awesome. Just make sure you do it in the cooler parts of the year, such as October to April. In the summer, it often gets above 43C. I backpacked the Grand Canyon in July once and it was over 43C. My hiking buddy got heat exhaustion going down, and I had to carry both of our packs back up. Let's just say I'm a wiser hiker now...
Wilson's Prom isn't that far away for me and I'm planning to do the same walk which should be fun. I wanted to ask though when you took your day packs at 3:21 what did you do with your backpacks and stuff? Hide them in the bush somewhere? You'd hope there's no theft out there but I'd still be too scared to leave it anywhere with all my goodies in it :) Also what's the water situation along the way, how much did you start with and what, where and how did you replenish (filter, etc)?
It is a very beautiful track, especially the soft white sand! Yeah we just put our packs to the side of the track. Luckily in 12 years that Ive been hiking no one has ever taken anything nor have I heard of anyone having had something being taken. But I suppose it is true you can’t trust everyone! I always carry my camera with me and don’t have anything hanging on the outside of my pack. You could also put your pack rain cover on your pack as another line of defence! For us there was plenty of water. There was a running hose thing at Sealers Cove Campground and a water tank at Little Waterloo Bay Campground. (Sometimes I email parks Vic and ask them if there is water in the tanks) My friend had a drink bottle that was made from Lifestraw for water filtration and I was using water purification tablets. (Aquatabs) I have just bought a sawyer squeeze water filter too but haven’t tried it out yet. I normally carry 3L of water. 2L in my bladder and a 1L bottle. I guess that might seam excessive for some but id rather carry it then worry about it!
Thanks for the reply, I had guessed you just tucked them aside somewhere but I would be anxious that it would be just my luck in the middle of no where someone decides to pilfer it. You'd hope there would be some kind of respect and 'code' for hikers between hikers which I think your 12 years of experience shows too. I did note your friends filtered bottle and looked it up as an option as well but I also carry 3L the same way, 2.5 in bladder and spare bottle and have also ordered a sawyer mini as a backup which is on its way for some time now. Thanks again, happy trails :)
Yeah there was a water at each of the campsites (as well as the one we passed along the way at refuge cove between sealers cove and little waterloo bay)
another awesome and well put together video! your editing skills are great! I'd love to know what tool you used to get that little bit of animation right at the start to draw the map of the hike?
Always lovely to hear comments on editing! I am no animator so I do a cheat way of animation where I draw the individual lines in Photoshop then bring them into Final Cut Pro and keyframe with the crop tool so that the lines reveal themselves, if that makes any sense haha
@@settohike ah yup! I see what you did there! I've tried doing something similar with a map reveal but i'v always struggled with the keyframe/crop tool (particularly when it's a weird shape/reveal). thanks for the insight though! love it!

Aww that is very nice of you to say! I actually got Freycinet vibes on this hike, but Freycinet still won. 😛 You will love this hike too!
@@settohike I see how you get those vibes! Freycient is amazing tho!!
Great video as always! I can't wait to finally do an multi day there. So far only ever done day walks
Thank you! 😁 I think it would be a great one for a multi day, not to strenuous and nice views to take your mind off the walking part 😛
A really lovely and well done video! Congratulations.
Thank you so much! 😊😊
I love Wilson’s Promontory
Done this one in a day, such a great hike

:) Yeah thankfully only had small moments of rain! I want to go back in summer now for some swimming!!
I still remember crossing that river on high tide lol in winter 😬🤣 but it was still a great hike
