Oh ambassador, with these 10-day trends you are really spoiling us.
Creep! 😁😂
If only the jet stream would bugger off, like it did last year. Fed up with low pressure.
Coldest and wettest summer on record
Thank you Aidan. Love cooler weather and Autumn starting.
I've been thankful that this summer hasn't been stupidly warm like last year.
It’s all so depressing. I keep thinking the succession of depressions cannot continue and we are due something better but little sign. I cannot remember another summer where l have had to put the lights on during the day so often.
Apparently July 2009 was more rainy than July 2023. And July 2007 even more.
The 10 day trend like the Deep Dive, Is a good reason to subscribe to the Met Office on TH-cam.
I'm thinking of something witty and amusing to say but it's been an awful summer. The odd sunny day but wet, dull and windy for most of the 'summer' here in Dorset. Maybe not as bad as many have had it, but nothing you could call summer all the same.
June was hot though
It's all just so grey. So much cloud, it's grey and dull here all the time I just want my few months of brightness!
Thank you. That is so useful to us gardeners wondering when to plant out our autumn stuff.
We had a week of summer in June. That's it. Horrible. I hate Autumn and really loathe winter. So I am depressed.
Bit more than a week
@@TheIlhanTheElequent_ishaq Not where I live it wasn't.
Thanks Aidan , great detailed forecast.
Thank you for the info.
Stay healthy🙂everyone.
Thanks Aidan - superb 10 Day Trend as always. It's so interesting to compare how the weather really is with what was forecast in last week's 10DT (this week it was very accurate!). Love these.
I am so fed up in my corner of Yorkshire! I feel we have skipped summer totally and now with the leaves piling up on our grass cos the trees are confused and think its Autumn already, please say I will have a last blast of heat and sun? I dont mind when just not ready for the next season yet!
Thanks Aidan for this deep dive.I want it warm and sunny this September and autumn/winter this year due to the cost of living I can't afford big heating bills.
End of summer…..when did it start?
Well, if June 21 is midsummer's day, then summer is roughly 46 days each side of that. If so, then summer ended around 6th August. There are those who ask if it ever actually started this year, given July was the sixth wettest since records began in 1836.
In fact, you should factor in the delaying process the oceans do. That’s why summer is considered, apart from statistics purposes, June, July and August. As the water heats slowly then land, you actually have a three week period delay in the peak temperatures, even if astronomically, the Sun’s highest angle occurs around June 21st. That’s why when you look at long term averages, you see July as the warmest month. The same happens to winter, with the coldest month being January.
@@felipecorrea9075 That's classical thinking, but the Gulf and Gulf Stream didn't cool this spring.
2009 and 2007 apparently wetter but nobody seemed to care.
Thanks for this detailed weather forecast, you put energy into it 🙂👍🏻
Thank you to the jet stream. Great job this summer keeping it pretty cool in the north of Europe including UK it seems.
Thank you met-office. I like this slightly more nerdy weather channel even if naturally UK centered. From Jutland
The summer ended 2 months ago here in West Wales:)
Interesting how people view summer. For those that don't like heat it's been great, others that do it's been awful. The stats will prove its still been a warmer than average summer, but sunshine amounts since July are probably low to very low, depending where you are.
I can't remember even one August Bank Holiday which has been fine. Same as Wimbledon tennis tournament. Cue inclement weather!
I've been thankful for this summers weather, drought/ wildfires/extreme heat does not appeal to me.
thank you, Aidan
Many thanks Aidan. So not the best of bank holiday weekends then, though it could be worse, and one things for sure, at least we’re not experiencing the very hot weather that Europe is. I’ll stick with what we will be having and be thankful. 😊Thanks a lot Aidan
Hi, I do love your channel. I follow the astronomical summer, which means summer ends on the 23rd of September and not the 1st September 🌞🌞🌞
Brilliant detailed forecast
Great explanations. So informative. Thank you. Nobody else gives such good realistic forecasts.
Well, looking at some of the truly horrendous heat that we've seen not that far south of the UK, I for one feel lucky that we've had a reasonable summer...in terms of no awful heat spikes. This is more like the English summers that I remember before 30c+ almost became a norm! We should count our blessings.
What summer? We never had one, you’ll agree!
End of summer? … we didn’t even have a start 😂
Interesting that in the current world ‘cooler’ air is still bright orange
More like titian 😂
Thanks for the detailed forecast Aiden. I have plans for bank holiday Monday so I’m hoping it will be dry I don’t mind cloud and cooler weather but don’t want any rain lol.
Ahh (constant) low pressure systems…we have missed you…NOT. Bank holiday Monday - it’ll rain. 😏
Another excellent explanation 👍
I have been hoping for rain for ages. Its still so dry down here. Would have been nice to have had a dry weekend though.
It may be depressing for hot weather lovers, but for those that don't like it, it’s been a great summer.
It’s the rain that bothers me not so much lack of heat people don’t like being stuck inside
@@johnsonsteven664 I love the sound and smell of rain so not an issue for me. Can't survive without rain mate.
I agree but not all summer long we’ve had or share
@@johnsonsteven664 Welll yes and no. Most of June and first week of July was very dry.
All the nice days were when I was at work it always seemed to rain on weekends 😂
Sorry have I missed something here? What summer exactly in the Midlands? Been terrible weather since late spring, nagging winds and cool temperatures.
Would it be fair to say that we never have a sunny summer in El Niño years?
Also I’m interested in the high sea temperatures earlier in the year. Did they stay hot and what part did they play in inviting the Atlantic to dump itself on us?
Summer?
I must have nodded off.
End of summer?
There was a summer?
Who knew!?!
:D
Who organises the showers?
Terrible. Our weather has been dreadful this ' summer' ..in fact it's been more a likened to March or early October. Depressing to think that in a month or so, the Autumn will be well seated-in. No wonder we flock to Europe for our hols!
The weather has been fascinating this summer season but it has meant my vegetables on my allotment have done really well. I wonder how much of the summer’s weather is due to El Niño and I feel sure this winter will bring frequent storms and colder temperatures as a consequence 😁🤔
To think I simply looked forward to `Summer` to simply peg the washing out. Not having the heating on to get it dry...
Has the El Nino effect directly impacted on the position of the jet stream during our “summer” ?
I get the jet stream dipping south of us but after that it was moving north over Greenland moving eastward so how is it suddenly dropping north as soon as it gets near us giving us more unsettled weather
The summer ended the day after the heatwave in June ended.
Cool.
Weekend of summer lows 🙁
🎉🎉
End of summer? I thought thay happened in July!
Intense intense intense
Spring/summ…sorry spring/autumn/winter 😢
It did get to 30 degrees in South London and North-East London (bordering God's county!), which is around 3-5 degrees more than predicted today.
Heres hoping for a stormy autumn and a very cold snowy winter
Hope you have plenty of spare money available for your heating. Many don't have that luxury & prefer it as mild as possible
@@Rob-xz9vx
Let me give you a Winter forecast. Wet and very windy at times interspersed with the occasional cold snap with overnight frosts. This will start from the end of October, when the clocks go back and will continue until the end of April. Then the rain will get warmer. The end
Hopefully we get an Indian Summer, some hope HaHa!
🎉
I think it ended in june
Now, such is the effect of the collapse of the arctic jet stream, one only has to take the Eurostar to Paris to find heat.
Lots of people see to have forgotten the hot dry June: one third of the summer.
@@scottsaunders5087I agree…..I don’t know where these people that go on about how hot it was live.
Trees where I live r autumn colours 😮
and ours..the leaves have been steadily dropping for about 10 days now
Another depressing UK summer yet again 👎👎👎
Its just weather. I guess we just need to adapt and learn to enjoy ourselves despite the weather? Other countries seem to have the knack
@@richardh8082 nahhh I'll stick to traveling abroad and leave it behind
So Low pressure Lots of showers
Meteorological summer ends on 22 sept.. I’ve consulted numerous professors in my geography dept at my uni. They were unanimous
With all due respect to your Geography professors, it’s astronomical summer that ends on 22 September
It’s all looking very messy. An unenviable job to forecast …. 😊
Oh bother ...rain again..😢
On the day, May weather app said Thunderstorm in the evening at 6
Well done jetstream..keep that hot weather away
