In all of my years of watching forecasts for tropical systems, I can count on on finger, let alone one hand, the number of times that well ahead of a storm about to strike, stated the difference in the low making landfall vs impacts of the storm hitting 12 hours earlier. For people making plans for travel, business closures, etc., this is critical. Early Tuesday will be the low, making landfall and coming on shore. BUT, the storm essentially hits many hours earlier. When the landfall occurs, half of the tropical system is done. This is so important and I think the only person I recall pointing this out was someone from NOAA or NHC, like Max Mayfield. And he did so well ahead of the arrival because many will change their language as it is closer but people need to think of this WELL AHEAD of a day or 2 prior. Too much focus on landfall of the low vs when the leading edge or the start of the downhill weather. I lived in south Florida for 10 years and I still recall how many people would say that it came earlier than forecast. It didn't. The low made landfall when expected but the actual storm started much earlier than the low hitting the state.

I live in the upstate of South Carolina and this is the only thing I can find on this storm right now. It's terrible right now, lightning blew out a Transformer few minutes ago and the lightning has not stopped.

Thanks for sharing this Fox 26 Weather, we are planning a trip down to Florida in the 2nd week of next month, hopefully it won't impact of where we are going to stay. Because the place that we are staying at got affected by hurricane Ian last year I think.

After going thru and surviving a cat 4/5 last year I’m not to worried about a cat 1 or 2 😮 Don’t get me wrong definitely wanna make sure you have gas water and some food but other than that we should be fine 😎

I just have a question Mister meteorologist, what is the dark purple weather down there in the red where you're showing the makings of the hurricane? I think the dark colors and usually the darker the color it's worse but I've never seen purple show up under red
