    Good updates. However neither myself, nor anyone I have asked knows what 'locally' means in terms of snow depth. To me, literally, it means that places local to me will have the deepest snow? Surely there must be a clearer and more obvious word, especially when it is used in red alert weather reports. Do any other viewers not understand what this means?

    • @rityalimza3200
      @rityalimza3200 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the term above 100 m or 200 m how is someone spoused to know where that is exactly.

    • @-yeme-
      @-yeme- 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can you really not work out what locally means in this context? They give an average depth of snow expected across a wide area, and warn that in any specific location within that area it could be deeper. So that extra depth might be local for you, or it might be local for someone else. But it will be local as opposed to widespread.
      And to find out your altitude, whether youre at 100 or 200m, open any mapping application such as Google Earth. In a short weather forecast they really do not have time to list thousands and thousands of locations individually by altitude.

      SSW took place 3 days ago, and based on the most recent European and GFS runs, it appears we will get some sort of severe easterly by the end of January. I think that’s why TH-cam has suddenly recommended this.

    Wer sick of hearing about Scotland man it’s always them with the snow! U spend most ur time forecasting about them what about Northern Ireland, what about Birmingham? What about other places further south on the east coast that have been badly effected! It’s all about Scotland.

    Despite the metrication of our nation, the demographic profile is of a majority of elderly folk.
    Would the MET office consider giving inches and degrees Farenheit in their reports.
    Even if they "don't have to".
    Wind speeds in mph is handy too.
    Please

      I’m 30 and since I can remember we’ve used degrees and inches etc. Just because they’re ‘old’ does not mean they can’t adapt especially when they’ve had decades to do so.
      I can understand both cm and inches, I really don’t see why they’d have a problem interpreting.
