In 2018 he had stopped by the Renzo Gracie NYC academy and taught an evening class by surprise. It was amazing! At the time, he was only teaching seminars and said he was on tour for basically the entire year. He said that he wouldn't even consider Hawaii his home base anymore. I would recommend his seminars to anyone who has at least taken up BJJ as a hobby. The man is a living Jiu Jitsu encyclopedia.
Of Helio's children, Relson was the meanest. He was said to have a temper. To punish him, Helio would sometimes delay promoting Relson to a higher belt ranking until he learned to behave. Relson even said in an interview that when he and Rolls Gracie were children, he and Rolls got into a fight. Rolls, being older, won the fight. Frustrated, Relson grabbed a knife. The family had to talk Relson into putting the knife down.
