  • Dawn Morse of Core Elements Training demonstrates massage to the Achilles tendon.
Massage to the Achilles tendon is a great way to increase localised blood flow to the tendon, whilst increasing mobility.
This massage technique can be used for for both sports massage and therapeutic massage treatment.
When using these techniques for Achilles injury or limited range of movement at the ankle, also treat the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles.
These are examples of the techniques covered in Core Elements accredited, Level 3 and Level 4 #Sports #Massage Diploma, which is available as a face to face, and bended learning course, at our training centre in Swindon, Wiltshire (UK).
Core Elements Training delivers a range of accredited Sports Massage and Sports Therapy based qualifications and short courses.
*All courses are available as face to face delivery at our training centre in Swindon, Wiltshire and a selection of CPD courses are available as Live Online delivery, such as #Dry #Cupping and #Kinesilogy #Taping, and some courses are available fully online, such as #Clinical #Yoga and The Science of Stretching.

I will be trying out this massage and the heel dips. I have very painful archilies plus planter facia. Thankyou for showing the massage therapy. Will revert on the results soon.

I just had achilles surgery and while this looks great I'm wondering if this would work during the physical therapy stages of my healing process. Thanks.

Yes wait for the scar to heal and when you’re ready to start physical therapy, speak to your therapist and they’ll be able to assess if your Achilles is ready for massage therapy 👍🏼.
Hope you recover quickly and successfully from your surgery.

I had this procedure with no positive result. Heel dips several times a day for two weeks saved me. I limped for over 1 yr.

Ooh yes the excercise heal dips can be useful for stretching out the gastroc and soleus muscles and reducing tension on the Achilles.
I’m surprised that massage to the Gastroc and Soleus, along with Achilles didn’t help also?
Often as therapists we’d massage the area of tension and wider region and then prescribe home care activities too.
Great to hear that your injury is now resolved and you’re no longer limping 👍🏼.

Not always 🙂. May feel a slight sting as the needle is inserted.

You can massage with some moisturiser and place your leg on the bed or chair to raise it up, so that your can reach the back of your leg 👍

Can I do this on an injured achilles tendon?

    • @CoreElementsTraining

It really depends on what the injury is.
If it’s an old strain or generalised tightness then yes 👍
