Having driven the Grenadier in CO Springs, with cash in hand, but didn’t take one home; my local dealer had multiple units in the right colors and trim I wanted on the lot, I couldn’t really put WHY into words until this video. Great summary! Add the terrible rearward vision, inability to fold flat the rear seats for sleeping inside/packing (for 2) for overlanding, and 1970’s steering. It’s NEARLY there but unacceptably overpriced/underspeced.
Not only is it cheaper to do your own oil change, it’s probably faster, too. Plus it’s a good opportunity to take a look underneath for leaks and other problems.
Had the same experience with the JLR dealer charging $750 for an oil change, cabin air filter and new windshield wipers. Never again. That is completely and utterly ridiculous. Get a FUTOMO oil drain plug adapter and change the oil yourself. Very easy. Also, totally want to get a Grenadier to replace my FJ Cruiser. Wish I could keep them all, but there's no world in which a person needs a Hummer, a Defender, a FJ and a Grenadier.
Credibility is always important in reviews, and the you say that the Ford ran circles around the Toyota in the off-road trail is ridiculous. 'm not a fan bot in any way , but in your own video you took the the tacoma on a substantially harder line, so I'm curious why you didn't take the raptor on that line if it's so much better?
Please get your hands on the Roxor Mahindra. Jeep Willy like side by side. I would love to see that thing put to the test. I owned a Jeep Compass 4x4 and it did fairly well off road. Biggest downside to that vehicle was they offset the rear wheels in the wheel well so you cant put bigger tires on it. Even if you gave it a lift. It's like they didn't want you to make it more capable.
Went to Italy this summer. Those Renegades are everywhere. They carry the look of the older Fiat Pandas, which looked to be the standard farm truck. Imagine an Italian farmer trying an HD truck…
I’ve wrapped 3 cars for a previous business. I would not recommend it. Just the time alone to remove it alone is a pain not to mention potential damage if it’s “done right”.
Talking about the oil change on that defender, heck just take your little Polaris Ranger in for a factory oil change, I do all of my own changes but friend of mine just took his in and it's first service was a 20 point inspection with an oil change for $416
I guess I’m in the minority as we have a 2016 Renegade with 110k miles. We’ve taken it across the country several times, have been off road in Utah & Colorado and the little thing just keep going. It runs smoothly and does not shake the way you describe. I guess when you have access to a lot of cars most can’t and or don’t want to afford, it gives you the right to be a bit boushie.
You guys are unbelievable. You dis the not so cheep Jeep, but rave about the Disco that’s at least $20k more, plus the Ranger Raptor is at least $25 k more. My Gladiator Sport S, with hardtop, automatic, ACC, rear radar cros traffic alert LED Taillights, LED lights everywhere except headlights plus heated seats and steering wheel, 12.3” touch screen plus 4 G LTE WIFI Hot Spot, with granted 245/75-17 HT tires with matching Chrystal Granite Metallic alloy wheels to match the body. All marked down from MSRP of $51,000, down to out the door price of $35,400! That’s one of the most comfortable trucks I’ve ever had, plus daily average of 18 mpg, 22 highway at 70 mph. Easily cruise along without ever touching the brake or gas pedal, that automatically follows the flow of traffic right along till it stops for 5 sec. with the adaptive cruise control. Only been off road on trails in Georgia running up some serious hills of loose sand an gravel, plus deep beach sand with ease, with the open differentials, just turned off the traction control and knowledgeably using the handbrake level to send a balance of power to both rear wheels.
Gonna miss the Ram 2500. Great truck and always loved the content it was featured in. The G wagon and Defender have the same issue in that even if you can afford the sticker price, maintenance will get you. Everything from oil changes and brake jobs up to real repairs will be more expensive. The Wrangler is super cool but even at $32k is still overpriced by about $5k. Need more Ranger Raptor content. I’d love to see it vs the new Tacoma Trailhunter.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT VIDEOS HOPE THE NEXT YEAR IS EVEN BETTER! I look forward to you testing the G580 Mercedes Electric G wagen! and your assessment of it!
I drive a 2016 GMC Canyon 2WD truck with a manual transmission. Since I don't have a garage for home charging, an electric vehicle is not practical in my daily life. However, ever since I heard about the compact Telo electric truck that is 152 inches long and available as a 2WD or all wheel drive, I have been very curious about it. I wanted a mid-sized truck to make parking in the city easier, but the Canyon is too big. When I used an indoor parking structure, I had to first get into the bed and unscrew the antenna because the truck was too tall. Every year, car manufacturers make so-called mid-sized trucks taller and wider, and car reviewers say it great that the trucks are bigger. I hate the size of the Canyon because where I live, my Canyon barely fits between the lines in a parking lot. If a Suzuki Samurai doesn't constantly tip over off-road because it's too narrow, then there's no reason to continue making mid-sized trucks bigger. When Telo is released at the end of 2025, customers will finally have a real mid-sized truck that can carry and tow like a full-sized truck.
@lonerider5315 The Telo gets 260 miles of range for the smaller battery and 350 miles of range for the big battery pack. It has 500 horsepower, 1600 lbs of payload, and it can tow 6600 lbs. The two original founders of Tesla are investors, and the guy who was responsible for getting the Nissan Leaf into production is consulting on the truck.
I like the Trail Boss but absolutely hate the G80. It's the weak link to the truck in my opinion, but also it's perfectly useful for the majority of people. I love Roman's G though, but not the color.
What happened to the GLS!?!? Am i the only one who was into that series? Please do more unique things this year... Im personally over jeeps and 70k+ super pick ups. We all already know those are going to be great offroad. I wanna see something challenging. Like what a lifted and modified crv can do.
I owned a 2015 renegade and it didn’t shake? I’d be willing to bet it had bad motor mounts, it is a known issue with those and the automatic transmission. I would put it in the same class as a crossover, not really a dedicated off road vehicle but then again the cyber truck isn’t either.
The 20g off is a lie from the dealer. I had a friend call and check and put a deal together and it’s false advertising with the Willy’s 4xe at the Colorado stealership.
If you get the 4 cylinder, you need the extended warranty. The Trail Recon guy's mechanic has replaced several of those engines just out of warranty. And it is expensive!
A compromise on the g wagon could be to leave the center hood cowl black but put red from the cowl body line outward Edit: nevermind. Not worth it if it's sold!
NO "MOON ROOF" AVAILABLE ON THE RANGER. THE WORST IS THE "RAPTOR R" DOESN'T HAVE A TORSEN FRONT DIFFERENTIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kase getting emotionally nostalgic with the classic Jeep is what makes him a tremendous man I’m sending you bear hugs bro. Ps can you believe that you are at the company now for 5 years. Now you get retirement benefits lol 😂 congratulations kase we love you Tommy And kase. your leaderships . Has really helped the company grow. Roman Is beyond proud of you
For some reason your videos are all playing in a foreign language. It doesn't happen with any other channels. Wth? Tried setting the default back to US English and it doesn't work.
Those EV discounts and incentives are thankfully about to be gone. That Willy’s jeep is the best vehicle y’all have there. My grandfather had 3 of the 40’s models and I put those damn things through crap they should have never been in. They were proven in war and you can get yourself out of just about everything. They were easy and cheap to maintain which is obvious because so many are still running.
Means EVs will be similar priced. Dealers and manufacturers know consumers have those incentives, so they mark them up. So if they want to flip inventory now they better be competitively priced.
EV’s will be fire-sale’d after being unsold on lots for a year without incentives, and mfg’s will stop making them when the lack of incentives mean a lack of profits. If mfg’s were willing to make things for less profit, we would still see regular cabs and manual transmissions.
@Cloud30000 stopping making them😂😂 Maybe slow down, but everyday battery tech and manufacturing processes are being advanced. It's only a matter of time before it makes sense to go EV.
@Cloud30000 but if yoy really wanna kill EV sales. Get oil prices down, so the cost of a gas car can compare annually to an EVs running cost. I'm keeping my v8s, but I'm also not scared of the future or change.
Getting rid of a Tacoma and even the Ienos being a Colorado company seems illogical. Not sure I understand what this channel is trying to accomplish. No wrenching or mods for offroad, which is fine, but what is goal of offroad channel? G wagon on trail, ya OK.
I would love to see a series of videos where you buy an old vw bug and show the process of turning it into a baja. Then, test it against modern off roaders. You can modify the engine but must stay an aircooled 4 cylinder. Suspension, steering, tires, and safety can be upgraded to your choice.
Love the Ranger Raptor. Or for $10k more you can get the Toyota TRD pro Taco which is worse at everything. I just wish the Ranger had more aggressive styling like the Colorados.
I own a truck. F150. I live in the city and use the truck for towing a small camper. I never expect to drive off road and still I love these videos. You all make such high quality content that I can’t stop watching. Keep up the great work and happy new year.
I already purchased a solid off roader for dirt cheap since it is very broken and will need to put some money into. A 2008 VW Touareg V10 diesel with all the lockers.
@@nothingtoseaheardammit Yup. Looking at pulling the engine then new cam, new turbos, new gaskets, seals, alternator, etc.. Should take most of the winter working on it 3 days a week plus shipping times.

Our local dealer has a full lot of inventory. I’m now worried there will not be a better version.
I do my own anyway, but $400 oil changes tell you everything you need to know about a dealer.
A 4x4 Christmas Eve morning.

Always loved the Jeep brand. But until Stellantis gets their head out of their ass, I’m not touching another one with a ten foot pole.
Didn't stellantis have a stop sale on the 4xe for fire concerns?

TFL/Tommy what about a few more upgrades (minimum needed) then do rubicon trail next year?
The grenadine would be about perfect if it had an actual full instrument cluster instead of a screen, and the price is over twice what it should be.
How is a 4Runner and Bronco better on-trail than the triple-locked G-Wagon? That sounds like a crazy thing to say.
$400 oil change? Valvoline centers here in Cali would do that for $80 w synthetic while you stay sitting in your car taking maybe 10-15 minutes.
