      Read up and find out who's to blame sir. The Texas Utility Worker union are no allowing outside sources to help in restoring power. Why do you suppose the CenterPoint workers are being threatened with AK-47's by some Houstonians?

    • @MM-sf3rl
      @MM-sf3rl หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rogerbec5766 I didn’t know that about the union. Linemen don’t look at their profession as a job, it’s a career. So I imagine they do want to try and protect that (right or wrong). The threats by Houstonians with AK-47s is just part of the sick American gun culture. Seems like it’s the new hammer, and everyone’s a nail.

    It certainly places the customers without power in a difficult position. As a retired utility engineer (40yrs) I've packed my bags and been on more storms than I can count and spent weeks at a time working away from home. A message for Center Point - You get judged most when things are worst. CP needs to weigh that in every decision they make about how they build and maintain their system.

    I'm sure every state is different and may handle things differently. Unfortunately, regardless of how things are handled, the one common thing is that hurricanes always create wide spread power outages. Living in South Florida, my heart goes out to those affected. As someone who has gone through MANY hurricanes and has experienced many power outages, some for 2 to 4 weeks, in the worst heat, with nearly 100% humidity, you can't just lay all of the blame on the power company. I'm not saying they are blameless, but there are a lot of issues and road blocks (both literally and figuratively) to getting power restored. Too many to detail, but one of the biggest priorities is getting power back to hospitals. How do I know this? Because my neighbor accross the street is on the same line as the hospital. While it's infuriating to see they have power, and a week later, I still don't, I understand that it is not as simple as the power company coming over 1 street and flipping a switch to turn on my power. There could be downed lines, poles, debris, trees, etc. way on down the line that I can't see, plus, I'm not the priority- the next hospital is.
    I'm not here to argue, and you may have an actual legitimate reason to be upset at the power company, but don't think everyone should get power back at the same time in a couple of days after a storm with such wide spread outages.
    However you feel about your power company, the most important thing to do is not take frustrations out on the workers out in the field trying to restore your power. What they are doing is not only dangerous, but many are working 10-16 hrs in the heat to get your power back on. These people are heroes. The last time I was without power for over a week, I drove around with a sign saying "Thank you" and would hold it up every time I drove past a power crew. Why? Because even though we had thousands of people from FPL and those that drove from other states' power companies, people were taking their frustrations out on these workers. Even though we saw all the convoys of power company trucks from all over the country, people still thought it wasn't enough and gave these people a hard time.
