  • A quick look at the Thule TopRide 568 wheel off bike carrier system. So good I've purchased two of them. Sorry about the wind noise obviously my Rode Viceomicro and muff just isn't unto the job. But look at all that glorious bokeh.
    Hope this video is of interest especially if you are in the market for buying some racks. Any questions on them hit me up in the comments section.

    This is exactly what I've been thinking of a lot of the other roof racks. They look very wobbly, and I just simply don't trust solutions like that if you're going 60mph+ and also longer trips. I'm picking up a Thule Velospace XT 2 today and will start off with that. The one you got there might be something I'll consider later on if the Velospace XT 2 feels a bit much for everyday use. Looks rock solid at least.

    Great review. I have one and also think it is brilliant. I agree the front axle handle should be lockable! How they missed that very simple yet effective solution amazes me! One big reason to buy the front axle rack and not the frame option is for Carbon bikes...

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed my carbon bikes are perfectly secure with no risk of damage or paint rub. I’m still chuffed with it. The lockable axle handle would be nice but not a biggie for me I don’t leave my bike parked on the car anywhere unless it’s a petrol station and in which case it’s always on sight.

  • @kuzmajacek
    @kuzmajacek ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you tested it at speed? Thule say max 130km/h for all of them and while I wouldn't dare to exceed that with the wobbly, frame grabbing mount (which I own), I hope you could do more than that with this one? The same limit applies to roof boxes (130 km/h as per Thule's manual) but you can regularly see people flying with them at 180km/h in Germany. I try not to exceed 160km/h (100mph) with the box though.
    Have you tried this bike rack with real Motorway speeds? I'm thinking of taking bikes on a European trip, but If I need to drive at 130km/h I would probaly rent bikes at destination instead. Thx

    • @BeardonaBike
      @BeardonaBike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s right, the only thing locking the bike to the Thule is that plastic coated metal wire. A D lock would lock the bike to the rack but it’s an over sight on Thules behalf if you ask me. I would t dare leave my bike unattended on the roof lock or no lock to be honest.

    • @Simon-pu9qg
      @Simon-pu9qg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Locking the adapter wouldn't work as someone could just undo the axle instead. This is a compromise with the adapters to fit all axle sizes and lengths. Some carriers lock on to the bikes through axle directly but this can damage the axle and even break them in half (alxes are sometimes hour glass- or X-shaped). With the adapters there is no risk of damaging the bike or axle but a separate lock is needed.
