I think the changes definitely and complexity to the classic #13. Players like Zach Johnson would have trouble making 3. It's perhaps taken some of the excitement on Sunday at Augusta. Sometimes intangible to golf enthusiasts. I'm not sure the length was needed to make the hole tougher. Because of the trouble short and over the green. The second and third shots still have the same considerations. I remember the shot from the rough Mickelson made on #15 that he won his third green jacket from the pine straw......
@@winstonsmith11 I know that. I made the distinction between 15 & 13. They play similar and both are par 5's. My point was great shots by previous champions would probably never been hot because; shots into the green too risky simply over distance. Both holes are guarded by water.
I'm ashamed to say I cussed this gentleman whilst he was caddying for my one and only round at Augusta. If you're reading this Michael, I'm truly sorry. Sincerely, Richard
@@collllllll Also civil rights were still a factor in the 1960’s when he started caddying. He dropped out of school and worked to support his family. His first masters was when he was 14. Augusta required the players to use their caddies till the mid 80’s I think. He was one of the few that was still working the masters after. Segregation was still a thing as well till the mid 60’s. Carl got really lucky with this gig and became a legend.
Abuse, child abuse. My daughter is 11 years old currently and to imagine her carrying a full set of clubs on her own let alone for rounds of golf is unimaginable
The guy has successfully caddied for two majors ! Now that's a flex !
Absolute legend. Would be an honor to shake his hand.
Legend!! Awesome thank you for sharing.
Beautiful story, much respect ✊🏿

Legend
Wonderful story.
SUPER STUFF!!!!!!!
He knows the course very well
Unbelievable
I'm sure Mr. Jackson remembers every bump in the fairways and every break on the greens. Since age 11; wow!
what a sweet man.

That was 13... Not 15.

Caddie underrated . Navigation some knowledge of the course .
Yes he does,And The National didn’t even want to give him a pass to get in Friday.👎
A gentle legend but sadly sounds like they are pushing him out?

00:02 Would having an 11 year old caddie be considered child labour?
Not back then. Whole different world when this caddy was 11 years old.
@@cantaloupeme yeah, I guess

@Justice’s Dad Whatever. Easy for you to say. It was a different time.
