Good video! When you're unplugging a refrigerator/freezer you have to allow it sometime to depressurize the high pressure side. Otherwise if you unplug and immediately replug it back in there is a large amount of current needed for the pump to start pushing against high pressure. It's much easier for the motor to start after the pressure has settled.
@@ScottsSolarProjects You're welcome! Usually just after the pump is done running you'll hear a slight hissing sound coming from the back for just a minute. That's the high pressure side stabilizing with the low pressure side.
4-4-2023 -- I have a new River 2 PRO, and it did the same 'Overload' stoppage, tried couple times, no luck. Delta 2 too $$$ for me right now. I have a Milin 622w power satation and it had no problem to run my fridge. strange, Love the ecoflow. I would be nervous using XBoost on the fridge. I'll try again see it I get lucky like you did. My fridge runs at 120w but the surge seems high, confused why the MILIN 622w ran it no problem over the river 2 MAX & PRO I have. Great vid... Thnx
Hey Scott! Really enjoyed your video. I have a River 2 Max sitting in front of me awaiting its maiden voyage in my garage. Sadly, complete user manual is not very helpful, so your vids help alot. Thks. FYI, I have a Goal Zero 100W Boulder Briefcase solar panel on order (The ecoflow 60W has been back ordered for over a year ugh). Not sure how to interface the two and need to buy extension cable MC4 - XT60? but not sure what Goal Zero uses....so may hit you up for a question. My first foray into solar power in my garage. Great Videos...keep 'em coming
I did my test with 125 watt High speed table fan for Camping, it only ran for 3. 15 hours . Which means abt 400 watt hours... It is falling short by 100 watt hrs everytime. X boost is kept off.... In your case, fridge compressor runs intermittently , so can't say 7 hours backup by it.
Hi Scott - Just found your channel today. Good stuff, very valuable and I really appreciate your confident, knowledgeable and non-flashy delivery. I just purchased the Ecoflow River 2 Pro for which I have many goals, including power to my RV fridge (12v/Propane/120vac) in my motorhome. The goal in my case is to supply power to the fridge while driving, allowing me the safer option of not flowing propane (I prefer driving with the LP tank shut off.) I figure with the River 2 Pro sized between the Delta and R2Max, and expecting lower power demand than the large compressor fridge that I should have about 10 travel hours of fridge power. We could extend that with recharges along the way. I ordered the River 2 Pro today so we'll see how long before it arrives. Looking forward to the testing and will share my results here!
Thanks a lot for the video! This was perfectly up to the point, exactly what I was looking for :) My fridge is a bit bigger than yours but I guess it would still work for a few hours, enough to save my food during a short blackout
As seen in the video here, it's not so much the run time, it's whether the unit will work during the startup phase when the compressor kicks in. If it's a short blackout and the temps inside the house are normal/cool, you don't need to run your fridge anyway. Our fridge contents lasted 14 hrs no problem during a recent long-term outage 19º C inside the house (it was late fall). Ice cream was perfect. No food went bad. We did NOT open the fridge or freezer though, for the duration of the power failure.
Probably just a bit underpowered for a refrigerator unless you're in a pinch. I have a 2500 watt inverter and 24v LiFePO4 battery (5kWh) as my refrigerator backup system. I just bought one of these River 2 Max on sale at Sam's Club - waiting for it to arrive, and just curious whether anyone has tested it for refrigerator backup. I intend to use the River 2 max as backup computer / lighting power as well as my internet router. Also seems to be a handy size for camping. Also, I have some other 12V LifePO4 batteries that I'm assembling and hope to be able to plug into the back to increase the energy capacity.
X-Boost will kill your Fridge. It works by letting over 500W of power draw at the expense of lower voltage, so your fridge will draw 800W at the start, but the Ecoflow will only output 100V @ 800W in X-Boost mode. The fridge compressor does not like low voltage, which will destroy it.
I tried this with mine. It showed wattage output for a few minutes and then it didn't show any wattage use for a quite awhile. The fridge light was still on and no overload message showed up. I'm wondering if yours had intervals of drawing power and then no power output while the fridge is at rest? Or did yours show intervals of higher and lower watts (but not 0)while at rest. I've got the RIVER pro. Thank you.
Killed by X-Boost. "X-Boost features an intelligent voltage control that marginally reduces voltage, allowing you to power devices with a lower-rated inverter, giving you more for less. Complete peace of mind. Traditional battery inverters often overload when connected to appliances that have higher-rated power consumption." Fridge compressor does not like low voltage.
Yes, I had to have xboost on for it to work. My guess is that it didn’t have anything to do with me turning it on via the app, it just happened to work on that 4th/5th try.

Oh, that’s good to know, thanks for sharing!

Interesting, great feedback, thank you!!

Well that's that scewed😊😊😊

Most compressors are universal. Mine is 100-240v, so it should work well ( it has been) with X-Boost.
I tried this with mine. It showed wattage output for a few minutes and then it didn't show any wattage use for a quite awhile. The fridge light was still on and no overload message showed up. you also could of cycle the refrigerator to run for 30 mins every two hours on the Max in a blackout
So doing exactly this with a river 2 pro actually killed my fridge. Yup, no longer cooling at all.
Killed by X-Boost.

I have the Eco River and my charging percentage has never been at 100%
Thank you.
Did you ever find out why only using the app allowed you to start the fridge? Also, when you used the app you still had to use eco-boost, right?
Yes, I had to have xboost on for it to work. My guess is that it didn’t have anything to do with me turning it on via the app, it just happened to work on that 4th/5th try.

So, basically, they are a waste of money. Thank you.
