  • A reflection of a banner stocking program fishing pressure is always high in Cherokee. The Raven Fork receives a large portion of that pressure. Only a few minutes from town this section of water always has enough cool, clean water ideal for trout. We dug up a video from our last experience fishing this section of prime North Carolina trout water and invite you to join us as we break down how to be successful on the reservation in this episode of Pautzke Outdoors!
Editor’s Note: A North Carolina fishing license isn’t required to fish in Cherokee. However, a tribal permit is. They are $10 per day and come with a whopping 10-fish limit. For more information please visit www.fishcherokee.com or / fish-cherokee .

Please dont use spinning rods, even if it is leagal in the non trophy section. People travel many miles to fly fish this area.

Its actually illegal to fish Ravens fork with anything other than flys.

      Logan,
It's actually not. Please read the regs carefully before making false statements. The tribal police was with us on this adventure. We think they know the rules.

      Their website literally says:
"Tackle is limited to fly rods, reels, and line with a maximum of 18 feet of leader material or monofilament line attached."
So unless you were outside of the Qualla Boundary you were in violation of the rules and regs they have posted on their website. If their rules and regulations have changed I'd like to see where it says otherwise.

@@kilo.sierra thank you so much for your hard found research. We encourage you to call Fish Cherokee - or the game wardens - who watched us film. And watched the dozens of other anglers who fished in the holes above and below us. Sure, miles upriver - and in a small section near town - there are special regs in place, but no in this several mile long section that's stocked weekly.
