I have a 2020 Vitara. Allgrip has an amazing software. New Subaru's are worse for some reason but Suzuki continues to innovate. I climbed to 2300 meters, really hard track with rocks, just had A/T tires if you call it a modification. I really wouldn't call the Vitara a "light off-roader", it is an off-road beast in the shape of a city SUV. Very impressive and pleased with it. Thank you for your informative videos man! Chris Linardos Wrong. Duster with antispin (ESP/TC) went on sale in 2013. Suzuki All Grip system also went on sale in 2013, so where is any manipulation? In this case both cars are from 2016. And what was the choice between 2015 and 2018? Duster I (FL) vs Vitara II. And what is the choice now? Duster II vs Vitara II. I will test newest Duster if I only find a volunteer with such car.

Suzuki wins (by a relatively small margin), but the key message is that both are VERY able 'soft roaders', compared to the plethora of wannabes which have AWD looks and ride height but no actual AWD ability whatsoever.

Vitara is smaller(especially the trunk, 375L) and is lower(only 185mm/18.5cm) and the Duster is bigger(the trunk has 411L) and is higher(210mm/21cm)...Duster is the same category as the SX4(1.0 turbo AllGrip is 18.130€ and the 1.4 turbo AllGrip is 19. 420€)...all the prices are from Romania
If there is somethnig that is influenced by the weight of the cars in that Platform, because people doesn t understan that the first thing for a performance car is a low weight. On road f.e. ALFA Giulia off road f e fiat panda 4x4 😁
Duster is more expensive for what it offers. The engines are not great. The 4wd is just a cheaper version from Nissan. The chassis has only 3 star EURO NCAP. It's a good utility car only if it drops 3k euro in price, like 18k the top of the line and about 15k with 4wd included. Compared euro per euro and tech vs tech, Suzuki wins by a large margin. The 1.4L turbo is a great engine, feels like a diesel with 220 Nm of torque. I have an SX4-Scross 1.4 turbo allgrip and Duster is out of its league.

I have no official information. However - recently we tested Vitara 1.5 Full Hybrid and All Grip worked slightly different there thus it is highly possible that awd system software is adapted to the engine.

@@avgram4192 Unfortunately Vitara diesel was not available in my country so it will be hard to find it for the test. When it comes to Vitara and S-Cross - I don't know. I remember that when Vitara entered the market - it had updated software in relation to S-Cross but I think that during authorised services all cars got the update.

He didn't really conclude any comparisons between the two cars. As he says, there's a 2 to 3 times more snow like there was when he tested Vitara. He talks about how Duster aims to be as good as Vitara and that it is comparatively priced. Then he proceeds do turn off ESP and turn on the Lock setting. He mentions that ESP will turn itself on after 50km/h is reached. Then he tried to climb the hill but he could not, possibly because of the snow, and he didn't really think ( or say out loud) that Duster is inferior to Vitara in his terrain capabilities. Last thing he mentioned is that between axel coupling ( I had to use transalor for this one) may overheat when used extensively in conditions like this.

Francisco Acevedo Thanks, but I can't agree. Tires with grip are on dry pavement. They are not spinning on pavement, so they have ~100% grip. This is not labolatory test with measurments of miliseconds. Car passes some test or fails. That's all.

The thing about rollers is that they test dummy scenarios and capabilities ONLY of the AWD system. Give me an example of having 0 traction on 2 front and 1 back wheel simultaneously, with only 1 back wheel having to pull the car.. I am doing a lot of off road and this scenario almost never happens as the car is on the move and other things matter most such as suspension, ground clearance, angles etc.. Rollers are for Geeks not for real off roaders!

I agree about test on 3 rollers, extremely rare or impossible situation, but it shows how smart awd system is. The most important is test on two rollers which can simulate real, onroad situations.
To add to your point the 3 roller test could simulate a very icy road. Yes ground clearance is an issue for some people but 90% of these cars rarely mount a grass verge. Excellent and valid test. Cheers.
It's amazing how much time needs the Suzuki to move the rear wheels... the front ones start and two hours later the sistem seems to understand what's going on and then it sends torq to the back side. Too slow !
Nope, that's not correct. That's the effect of classic automatic transmission with torque converter. When driver takes away his foot from the brake pedal - front wheels are spinning although the car is not powered yet. You can see the same effect in many other cars with torque converter. If Vitara is on-throttle then awd system is engaged before car starts to move, no matter what mode you chose and what conditions are there.
I am sorry but this is unfair for duster. This duster has only 156 nm torque. You should test the 1.5 4x4 with 260 nm torque. That 's the real offroad duster.
