    I've looked at several videos trying to decide between the PR-4000 and the PR-5000. I was also concerned because I am also 6'2" and wondered if the 80" was too short. I also wondered if I needed four posts or six, etc.. You were the only one that addressed every one my concerns. You really did an outstanding job. Thank you!

    Configuring a rack online and I'm trying to minimize footprint. With 24" the stabilizer feet take up, would changing to 6 post with a 16" crossmember and connecting the RBS and lat tower to the rear post eliminate the issue doing incline within the bench? Also would allow more freedom for storage? I understand it's only saving 4-5 inches in footprint, but if it would allow me to do more inside the rack, I would definitely consider it.

    • @twistedbarbell3950

Ceiling height is not an issue as I have 104" in my basement. I'm 5'7" and I read someone recommended going with the 93" if you're over 5'5" just for maximum versatility. Would you agree?

    • @twistedbarbell3950

    Question on the depth. I want to get the 30” with the feet and spotter arms so my son and I can do squat and bench together. If a bar was racked on the front for bench or squat could you still squat and bench with a bar racked on the back posts?

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  ปีที่แล้ว

      Doug, would be more feasible for dual squats, as the bench head would have to creep inside the rack for proper position. However, I would advise against simultaneous squats (or other exercise) due to the potential for failure from one individual endangering the other. For example, failing a squat, you can’t always control how or where you go down and could fall into the path area of the other. One never knows when a tear, muscle cramp or something unexpected can affect our lifts.

    This is by far the most thorough review on this rack that I have seen - thank you for that! I'm considering going with this model (with the Ares attachment) as I too am limited to keeping a 6'x8' platform to build. With your 30" crossmembers and your rear stabilizers, do you have to roll your bench off the front of your mats to do incline press on the front uprights? I know I would have a little more wiggle room (16" for the Ares + 30" for the 'cage'), but I'm just curious to how well your bench "fits" in that space. Thanks!

    Awesome video. But I just wanted to point out that you can do incline bench inside the rack comfortably if you buy a different bench from REP that doesn't have that bar that touches the rear stabilizer like the blackwing or ab-3000. Also you have to use the wider sandwich J-cups so the bar comes forward more. And remove the low row plate like you mentioned.

      @@cspellman that’s correct. I have not had issues with this myself, as the only accessory from Rogue I use on the rack is the Matador Lite dip bar and that came with no UHMW. I added felt liners to the inside to prevent rattling of metal on metal contact and its quiet and snug now. Depends on what you may want to add from other manufacturers. Most accessories from Rep are cheaper than other MFR’s anyway.

    Stumbled across this review, thank you so much about bringing up the weight storage considerations not many people touch on that. Quick question, regardless of 4 or 6 post you will need to have your rack off the wall right to make room for plates?

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed. Large plates being over 17” in diameter you’ll need at least half that in room behind a rack.

    Great review. I’m looking at buying my first rack. I’ve only room for the 24” cross member. If I bought the rear stabilizer bar and the front feet would I have to bolt it down? I don’t want to bolt something to my garage floor. Thanks.

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Most don’t bolt down. If you weigh it down like I have (weight storage) it shouldn’t move. If you add the lat low row or similar, it’s definitely not moving

    I cant find anything in the literature are on any youtube channels that give the measurements for the Westside spacing. All they say is "in the bench zone". It would be great if you could post where it begins and ends from the floor up. The bottom of the upper and lower pinhole would be a good reference. I'm trying to decide if they're going to be worth losing the extra said holes and better numbering on the 5000.

    This is a great review. Looking at 30in 4 post to start. I will have my weights stored elsewhere would the extension weights alone keep the rack steady without being bolted? Or would weight need to be stored on the rack?

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      thank you. I'm not sure I follow your question. If you store weights on the rack, it will certainly help with stability. Same goes for adding the rear bar stabilizer and front feet (no weight storage).

    @twistedbarbell or any other knowledgeable party, is it conceivable for one to install 2 of the lat pull down systems on the sides of the cage, when using the 41" sides, to effectively create a two pully dual arm system?

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. The pulley system uses a proprietary stabilizer bar at the rear and it is the anchor to the pulley. That and the pulley would stick out almost 3 feet on either side of the rack AND get in the way of using the rack freely by impeding movement for squats, bench and more.

    Thank you for the detailed review. I am also considering purchasing the 80" PR-4000 rack, but I do not have the floor space for the lat/row attachment. I was hoping to use resistance bands (of which I have many), throw one or more of them over the multi-grip pull-up bar and either put the lat row bar through the bands or use other kind of handles to perform seated lat row(s). I noticed you have resistance bands in your gym area. I was hoping you could try this setup and comment on how effective such "banded" lateral rows would be. I would still be using a leg roller just as you have in your video.

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could absolutely be done and I’ve done this with dual bands and clench fitness handles for dual pulley exercises. Just depends on how long you’ll be satisfied with the setup and the amount of resistance you get.

    Great review! Is there a reason you suggest the spotter arms for incline press rather than just flipping the bench around where you are facing towards the low row and still benching inside the rack? Is it to hard to enter with rack the bench flipped that way? Trying to understand :) thanks!

    • @twistedbarbell3950

    Great review! I have the PR-4000 with 41" inch cross members and I do my incline barbell and over head presses inside the rack by turning my bench around to face the back of the rack. Then I work from the inside of the front posts. While you can do this with normal j-cups, the monolifts make life alot easier- I highly recommend them.

    Have you ever tried deadlifting inside the rack off the safety straps? I am thinking of trying to contain all my lifts to within the rack, particularly deadlifts, and using the straps to stop the plates just shy of the ground to reduce stress on my underlaying tile floor. Would the 45's on the storage pegs get in the way?

    • @twistedbarbell3950
      @twistedbarbell3950  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried DL in the rack. Aaron from Whieboxdubai does, but he doesn’t use the strap safeties the way you want to. If you’re storing plates on the racks rear post and your cross members are 30” or less, the plates could potentially interfere. If you have the 41” CM, you could be ok.
