When I am depressed I cannot exercise and nothing irritates me as much as the people who recommend exercise as a therapy for depression. I can only speak for myself but I suspect the same is true for most other people who suffer from depression. If I were able to go out running, I wouldn't be depressed (and brush my teeth twice a year).

What would you think would be a right or better suggestion?
When I think of exercise, it could even be something as going for a 5 minutes walk and then increase it within days or weeks.
I know everyone is different, but I believe that humans are suppose to move their bodies and by doing so, it can help with their symptoms. Also I read that being outside can help with the mood.

      Same.
It's not exercise you need, it's enjoying your physical body for a moment. For some this is running, but for others it's sitting in the sunshine petting a cat. Rolling around on your floor stretching. Braiding your hair. A walk around the block.

@lauragadille3384 most people from the site I learn about anxiety have beaten in without any meds. The lead psychologist doesn't recommend (but not forbid) anything to take because without meds people feel a lot worse and they become dependent from them. It's better to understand, accept and ignore anxiety. It helps people to fully recover from anxiety disorders unlike meds. If someone won't understand the anxiety mechanism, they will never recover.

What should I do if in addition to medication proving ineffective I also found therapy ineffective, am unable to stick with life changes, and have watched my social support erode over the last 4 years as a result of my lack of improvement. I’m a therapist’s nightmare- 36, male, 146 IQ, undiagnosed DPDR since 18 until two years ago, identical twin, career as freelance bass player for hire, very tiny family and no functional nuclear family relationships.
Identical twin caused my DPDR onset at 18 and and reappeared in 2019 as unhinged abusive alcohol I cannot fully eliminate because dad (79) is screwed with no money, advanced Parkinson’s, separated from his Alzheimer’s wife for for 9 months now after her daughters became legal guardians and they are all very nasty now, and dad has no family or support but me, relapsing twin I can’t talk to, but thankfully dad’s brother (76) also in Alaska is taking on legal guardianship of dad plus the stepsister (who suddenly evicted dad and Sandy from their apartment on her property last summer after they put down $40k as a gift 7 years ago) but unfortunately the evil stepsisters correctly hate her for that. And I’m having major financial issues because I too would not hire a sideman musician that has an unstable mood and related issues.

I never had an issue UNTIL I was in a car wreck. It wasn't the injuries (which caused severe disabilities) so much as the fact that the person who caused the accident, was never held responsible. It was 30+ years ago. A judge's daughter who was high on drugs, her driver's license had been revoked so didn't have one. She walked, and my case was dropped by a judge who was a friend of the judge. Can you find an in-person or online support group for parents who have lost a child? It might help to develop a friend base of people who have been through similar pain and really "get it". Friends and family can sympathize and try to empathize, but only so much. If you can connect with other people who truly understand what you're going through and can offer you at the very least, some understanding and support, and at best, some coping skills, this might really help you.
Also, if you can rally yourself at all (I don't know how hard it is for you to: get out of bed, get out of the house, etc...), sometimes just doing something for someone who needs help can give your life some meaning. It seems like you've kind of lost your sense of self as "my child's parent", and not that ourb identities NEED to come from other people, but when you're stuck in a rut, sometimes it helps to know that you are "person A who helps person B with C". Know what I mean? Is there anyone in your family, friend group, neighborhood, who needs any sort of help with anything, even something small, like an elderly neighbor who'd really appreciate someone picking up their groceries sometimes? It's just that when you've lost what has "definited your identity" and you miss that person terribly, it's easy to go down a rabbit hole of what you should and shouldn't have done. What you should and shouldn't have said. How they should be here right now and it really isn't fair... And that keeps people stuck.
At the very least, maybe just some basic grief support group. Hospice companies in your area might offer those for free...

I was on medication (Prozac) for depression and anxiety, almost ten years. It seemed to be the best for me after a trial of soooo many different medications. But, I never really felt 100%. That changed when I changed my diet. Yes, I am going to be that guy... I switched to a ketogenic diet, very very low in carbohydrates. Not only did I lose a bunch of weight and feel physically great, I am no longer on Prozac. I really do think that food is medicine. Look at what you are eating...

I am sure I'll never find cure for my nightmare disorder. It's been like 2 years, and it just keeps getting worse. I don't wish this upon anyone, having your worst nightmare every single night. On top of that, I have fibromyalgia, started drinking heavily after starting having these nightmares. One of the few I haven't tried is vortioxetine, did duloxetine for 1 month only (low dose, 30mg). Not to mention neuropathy which is annoying as fuck (started way before I started drinking)
I am running out of options, can't afford therapy, can't exercise bc of pain, can't get rest. I am lucky to have people who care about me and are always there to help, many people don't have the same luck

My mum suffers from fibromyalgia, why did you take duloxetine for such short period of time, may I ask? If you didn't had a negative side effect, usually you need more time for the med to work.
My mum really, really dislike pregabalyn, but it has been prescribed to her by several different specialists and actually helps her sleep. Has any doctor prescribed to you?
I understand you about the nightmares. 22 years with PTSD. It returned worst about 5 years ago. I scream and wake people up. There was a time I would punch the wall, hit my head against it, even fell from bed. That was the worst time. I actually feel bad for my family for the screams. It's so common. Fortunately, once I'm told "it's a nightmare, you're safe", I completely forgot what I was dreaming about.

I had to sit on the couch for three months because if I stood up or even tried to walk into the kitchen, it would set one off. I was having 3 to 4 panic attacks a day. It took me a year and trying 10 different meds to find the one that worked for me. I take Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, and clonazepam as needed for panic attacks. I only have maybe 20 a year now. I have had a handful of bouts with depression, one was bad enough that I Baker acted myself, but for the most part, the meds have worked very well. I can go about day-to-day life, with my anxiety and panic disorder and depression, causing too much interference. It just took a while. And therapy for the last 25 years as well. 💙

I always prioritize symptoms and just like you suggested will circle back with the patient on those specific symptoms at the follow up and more than likely there has been improvement. As a psych provider it can get exhausting hearing "nothings working" over and over again and pts assuming we can just jump from one medication to the next so this video again solidifies that perspective is huge!

I’ve known many folks who were considered tx-resistant and were dx with a whole host of conditions until providers did a thorough trauma screening and realized they had PTSD. Have you checked Dr. Tracey's oldest videos?
I have the feeling she has addressed the issue.
You must NEVER cut them out abruptly.
There are doctors, even GP's that can help you reduce the dosage and check you out so you're not causing any damage to yourself.
If you no longer need the meds, you can quit, but you need supervision and, depends on which benzo, for how long and what dosage are you taking, it's how the process will go.
I've been on clonazepan for 20 years, but not all the time. Many of those years have been as SOS, when I take it once a week, or once a month. Only recently I have increased because a lot of issues has happened in my life and my GAD has skyrocketed, but you definitely can quit, but slowly, and the best is with a professional's supervision.
If you can check Dr. Tracey's videos, I have a feeling she has addressed the issue.
The only thing I regret about benzos is the cognitive deterioration. But I do need these things, so it's the price to pay to be alive.

      That's an excellent question!
I was misdiagnosed with BPD and given olanzapine for some months. It was almost 15 years ago and I still struggle with insulin resistance.
Since I gained about 20 kg between the side effects and the anxiety binge eating caused by the olanzapine, my underlying lypedema got notorious, specially on my upper arms, where I never had that problem before. Now it's very obvious, when I'm just about 5 kg away from my initial weight. It hate olanzapine and specially the psychiatrist who prescribed to me, he never admitted his misdiagnosis when everyone else did.
What worked for me was to quit alcohol, refined sugars, changing my eating habits to increase anti-inflammatory food. Also, I'm vegan. Drink plenty of water and quit all carbonated drinks.
      Exercise.
The best thing is to check with a diabetologist or a specialist in obesity that can guide you with other specialists.
I'm very sorry you had to went through that.
      Don't lose hope.

Boredom therapy as a way of motivation seems to work for me. I just sit there and not think. Usually your mind hates that lack of stimulus. Though of cause this doesn't relate to depression where everything is hopeless. I get this and it's a real struggle. So I understand. As for exercise i can feel so slowed down that its even painful sadly even therapy wont help that
